Why the Owner Chose Traverse City

Location, Location, location. Long Lake, Lake Michigan, Grand Traverse Bay and nearby Leelanau County are among the most beautiful and liveable places on Earth. This home is in the best of all possible locations, close to Interlochen and Traverse City's commercial , educational, cultural and medical center yet serene and secluded on the peaceful shores of Long Lake.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Guests will enjoy the beauty, peace and relaxation of being on the water in a space and place that is comforting, calm and in keeping with nature. The Lodge at Old Long Lake (or OLLL as we call it) is a spacious and gracious home without distraction or pretense. It was designed and furnished for families to reunite and enjoy the woods, water and serenity of Long Lake. Peace prevails at OLLL as time falls away and families remember an eternal truth: It is a blessing to be. It is a blessing to be here. It is a blessing to be here now, together.

Owner's Map of Traverse City

Blessed to be born of teachers who grew up nearby, our family spent summers on Long Lake since 1960. Unable to resist the lure of its clear waters, and wanting to be closer to our parents and grandparents, we bought Old Long Lake Lodge in November 2007. Sharing it with others who seek a peaceful family retreat is an act of love and practicality from our family to those who seek likewise. As the Michigan motto so aptly says: "If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look around you."

    • This is a lovely spacious home that easily slept our 12 family members. Everything in the house worked beautifully and our teens enjoyed the 2 kayaks the house is situated on Long Lake a particularly lovely area, yet Traverse City is within easy driving distance. We just read in our Sunday Paper that Traverse City is one of the 5 top rated cities for retirement, we're not surprised. Great house great holiday.

    • We just returned from celebrating our son's graduation from Interlochen Arts Academy. Our accomodations at Old Long Lake Lodge could not have been more perfect!!! Great beds, great linens, the kitchen was extremely well equipped and the location and view of the lake is second to none. Pam has been a joy to work with prior to and during the time we rented the property. We would highly recommend this property and will definitely try to use again when we are in the area!
