National parks, snorkel+scuba: Within easy driving distance there are several very popular Day Trips. You’ll need good walking or hiking shoes. Dink lots of water, pack insect repellent and perhaps most importantly, don’t overdo it! Remember heat and humidity can sneak up on you.
SCUBA DIVING AND SNORKELING TRIPS
An average of about 80 degrees Fahrenheit makes exploring the Gold Coast’s undersea universe a most delightful pursuit. With variable visibility ranging from 30% to an unmatched 100%, the area’s colorful and diverse marine life is offset by a network of cliffs, passages and tunnels.
Tours- Canopy, boat, toys: Canopy - Most Canopy tours are located inland, so you’ll need a car or the help of a tour company to get there. Hook up your harness and soar with the birds above the tree line. Do the superman, butterfly or stream across the forest upside down!
Boat tours - Home to more than 300 migratory birds, white-face monkeys, howler monkeys, American crocodiles, and iguanas, a two hour river cruise through Palo Verde National Park should be on your “to do” list when visiting Cost Rica.
Toys for Rent - Tamarindo offers a variety of alternate means of transportation. A credit card deposit and photo ID is required to rent any of the following: Jeeps, scooters, motorcycles, ATV’s, Kayaks, Snorkeling, surfboards, boogie boards, bicycles.
Restaurants, shopping and nightlife: RESTAURANTS
To say Tamarindo has a great collection of fine restaurants is an understatement! And is one of its primary attractions. Whether you have a taste for traditional Costa Rican food or something with international flair, you will find it in Tamarindo.
The Tamarindo Heights Garden Boutique Plaza, an exclusive high end commercial centre with a Pacific-Balinese style is open to the public since September, 2007. The amenities are designed to appeal to the discerning travellers that come to Tamarindo and include a high-end supermarket, pharmacy, full-service bank, fully equipped health fitness facility, several superb restaurants and other boutique shops. www.tamarindoheights.com.
The nightlife, if you choose to sample it, is famous for its mix of characters and is eclectic and lively. Bar-hoppers will not be disappointed - Tamarindo will keep those of you busy all night.

Nice place, but a little decieving
Nice place, but a little decieving
My husband and I just got back from our wonderful trip to Tamarindo. The unit we rented was definately not the one pictured, although the unit we had was nice. The problem we experienced with the unit we had was it wasn't equipped with even the basics you would expect from a rental (ie: paper towels, dish soap-no dishwasher-, salt/pepper, spices, etc). We were in the bottom, front condo which was all glass facing the street. Would have been OK if the blinds didn't leave a gap of 2 inches in Living rm and Master brm. We slept in the 2nd (inside) bedrm because of this. Also they are renovating the place and construction goes on all day, so it can be very noisy at times. I feel this should have been explained to us before we arrived. Also, we never saw a fitness ctr or clubhouse. If there was one, it wasn't on the premises. Teka (hope I spelled it right) was wonderful to us and I hope she is well! I never properly met Julius (who is the contact person on website) and thought that was odd. I had asked him to provide a few staples (food, which he offered to do for us) before we arrived which never happened. Never got a 'gift' upon arrival either, as stated on their website. On the postive side, the place is very pretty and the people nice (wish I could say accomadating). It is secured/locked at night and very safe. We loved to sit by the pool at night and have a nightcap. The beach is just across the road and down 1 block and market, restaurants, and nightlife just a few blocks away. We did see the Monkeys & Iguanas around the condo which was cool. Try the Kahiki restaurant on the corner from the condo. Food is great and happy hour was "happy". Actually, we never had a bad meal anywhere! The Tamarindo people are very 'pura vida' and nice. We always felt safe, even at night. If you decide to do some activies, I'd recommend Xtreme, a local company. We had EXCELLENT service from them. Thanks Alex, Sean, Phillipe, and Paul!!! You guys ROCK! This is a very laid back, flip flop, beachwear place and totally relaxing. Thank you Mango Condos for allowing us to stay with you and hopefully will see you again as a neighbor (loved Tamarindo so much that we want to retire there). The Alexanders

Mango Condos: Gorgeous complex, Perfect location!
Mango Condos: Gorgeous complex, Perfect location!
My family and I recently stayed at one of the Mango condos--not the one pictured--and had an amazing time! The Mango center is absolutely the perfect location in Tamarindo, just a block or two out from the center of town. You are within walking distance of everything (beach, restaraunts, small supermarkets, shopping, etc.), yet you are far enough out to enjoy a quiet night's sleep. We saw howler monkeys in the trees across the street and watched the family of iguanas hang out above the pool everyday. The Mango is perfect for any demographic, but particularly for families. The small pool is manageable for young children, laundry is on sight, and the whole complex is securely gated. The architecture is truly something to see--the Mango is beautiful already, and owner Julius continues to develop it with additional condos and spacious penthouse options. The condos are well appointed and comfortable, even for our family of five! While we were there, the area was upgrading to fiber optic wiring, so we expect that the internet and phone service will be perfectly reliable shortly. We did not receive any housekeeping services in the 10 days that we were there, but we were able to work directly with Julius to obtain what we needed for the unit and to wash clothes. He is a joy and we talked with him daily about local recommendations, etc. We were sad to leave the Mango, and definitely want to return! This place is sure to be the best valued property in Tamarindo! Stay there!

We really didn't know what to expect when we got such a good deal on a place in Tamarindo for the week. It ended up being beautiful, spacious, and most importantly, close to everything in Tamarindo--especially the beach! The owner was incredibly helpful and accommodating in every sense and I did not expect all of the amenities our condo had. Overall, this rental experience definitely led to a successful vacation and complete satisfaction!

Mango Condominium - Tamarindo, Costa Rica
Mango Condominium - Tamarindo, Costa Rica
When I searched out this rental, I truly thought it was too good to be true. The pictures of the accommodations were beautiful and the price was less than many other resorts that weren't half as nice. Julius was very accommodating and was quick to answer all my questions before booking the rental. When we arrived in Tamarindo, we were pleasantly surprised to find the accommodations even better than we expected. Mango Condominiums is only a two minute walk to the beach and the town of Tamarindo. It is located in a quiet spot off the main road with access to everything. The pool and water fountain was a big hit with our group, as we would end our day at the beach by sitting and lounging by the pool. We enjoyed the surfing community with several restaurants, shops, and activities to keep us busy. The apartment was very spacious, included a full kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as wireless internet. Everything was kept in immaculate condition and the apartment was cleaned once during our stay. Safety was never a concern for us in Tamarindo, but rest assured that there are several locks and gates to ensure that you are secured while on the premises. We rented a vehicle during out stay in Costa Rica, which we parked for free in front of our building. We loved our stay at Mango Condominiums and I would highly recommend it to others. In fact, I already have. If I return to Costa Rica, I will certainly stay there again. Nancy

After spending a week in Tamarindo we came home totally relaxed. The luxury condo met all our expectations. It was a very comfortable and safe setting. The space was very roomy for a family of 5. Two full bathrooms, with enough hot water and water pressure. Everything was very clean and new. Martin couldn't have been more hospitable and efficient. The condo was just outside the town but walking distance to everything. We went to the bakery every morning for fresh bread and bought fresh squeezed OJ on our walk there. I can't wait to go back to Tamarindo and would highly recommend staying at the Mango.

I had high expectations of this condo after reading the description and reviewing the pictures. I am happy to say that I was not the least bit disappointed. The condo was beautifully decorated and very clean...but most importantly it was COMFORTABLE. After arriving in Tamarindo, we realized how lucky we were with the location of this condo. A very short walk to the beach and restaurants made our lives so much easier since I came on this trip with an injured ankle. After a few long days of various day trips and activities, this condo was our home away from home. It had everything we needed from utensils to wireless internet. When asked how we thought they could improve, we had nothing to say. I am usually hesitant to give recommendations to friends and work colleagues because everyone is so different in what they want and need...but I can say with confidence that this condo is perfect for everyone...location, the help, the price, the level of comfort, the setup/decoration, the layout of the condo...it's fit for any type of traveler.
