Excellent Accomodations

Guest: Deborah and Dave (Traverse City, MI)
Date of Stay: 02/08/12 Review Submitted: 03/01/12

We found the unit to have everything we needed. It was very comfortable, very nicely furnished, and exceptionally clean. We prefer Stainless cookware so Della provided everything we needed. Fresh flowers including a beautiful Lei, CD's, internet, etc. The unit had everything we would have at home. Plenty of towels, dishes, pans, washer/dryer. Easy to find from main roads. To avoid traffic on Highway 19 into Kona, you can go up the hill from her place to the end (turn right) and go into town and avoid the traffic.

Kona Holiday - Jan 2012

We had a great week here on the big Island. This was our 3rd trip to Kona and this one-bedroom suite was perfect for us and very close to the airport and many beaches close by to choose from. The suite was clean, and comfortable for myself and my husband had all of the convenience of home. The kitchen was full equipped and everything was modern in the kitchen. There has been a lot of thought of what you might need on holidays! We love the quiet and sounds of the doves in the morning and the view of the water. We saw some beautiful sunsets too! The washer dryer outside of the suite we used often, very handy. We particularly enjoyed seeing were some of the locals's live and saw some beautiful homes! The use of the boogie boards was great as that saved us on expenses and didn't have to renting them. Della is wonderful and took great care of us and had some great recommendations as to where to get the best coffee and scones at the "four Seasons". Thanks Della. All in al I would recommend to stay here, great place to chill out and relax. Pemberton, BC

Ho'oluana ( to relax in Hawaiian)

We have been to the Big Island many times. This was the first time we stayed here in Della and Max's wonderful guest unit. We were greeted by beautiful tropical flowers in a vase on the table. Della also had fresh leis for both of us. Thank you Della! The unit is so quiet, clean , safe, roomy and it felt so comfortable. They equipped it with everything you may need and more. You are only 10 min drive or less to the airport or better yet to a beach or town. With the central location we were able to travel to the Waimea, to the over 13,000 ft elevation on top of Mauna Kea Observatory, to Captain Cook, South Point, Akaka falls, and beaches beaches beaches. They even have snorkel gear, beach towels and mats for your use. We stayed here for 10 days and each day we returned from our adventures to a very relaxing comfy safe gated property that is a home away from home. The birds singing in the morning was a peaceful way to wake up - forget the alarm clock.Della and Max are so friendly and helpful. Their attention to details makes this the best place we have stayed in over the years of visiting the Island.Teh price can't be beat. Just pack a carry on, come to the Big Island and stay here. We will be back in a few months! Mahalo

Della was delightful and extremely generous in her hospitality. She provided numerous special touches that made our stay memorable. Her shared local knowledge allowed me to run along breathtaking paths and enjoy some secluded beaches! I highly recommend staying here if you are not interested in waterfront accommodations

Wonderful experience with all facilities

We stayed here for a week on our first trip to the Big Island. The unit was bright, very clean, well kept & the owners have thought of even the smallest things to take care of in the unit. Max & Della are both warm & friendly people - Della told us about a nice place to buy fish when we wanted to cook at home. Even though the location is a 7 miles from Kona town, it is completely worth the extra drive because of all the peace & quiet along with amenities. I was hoping we could have got the 1st floor room (I'm just not used to living on the ground floor) but then the ground floor room was equally nice with easy access to the small garden. The one thing I wish could have been better is the bath tub, the one in our unit didn't really hold water very well. But overall, my husband & I would highly recommend it to all our friends & family.

This rental was everything we were looking for on our first trip ever to Hawaii. Della met us to show us everything about the unit & gave us information on where to buy groceries. I felt secure with the gated entry. The unit was so quiet. The only sounds were of birds in the morning -- lovely! I liked visiting the two hens in a pen just off the driveway. All appliances worked great. We borrowed the snorkel equipment & used the shared washer/dryer. We would definitely return to this rental again!

I have been renting a one-bedroom from the wonderful Della and Max. Not only is the apartment clean, safe and comfortable but also the property that it is on is beautiful, zen and safe. The amenities are exactly as listed and the landlords are so kind and accommodating. I've extended my stay because of how comfortable I have felt; it feels like home. I highly recommend the rental units to anyone who is interested in staying at a clean, safe, well-maintained, very comfortable, well-priced and lovely "home."

Home away from home

We are so glad we stayed here! The unit had everything we needed and the hosts were wonderful. Everything was well-maintained. We would love to come back. The beautiful birdsong every morning will be missed, as will the fragrance of all the flowers. This felt very homey and safe with the locking gate. The elevation turned out to be a plus also, as it is not in the tsunami evacuation zone. It was great to have access to the kitchen supplies and snorkel gear. We highly recommend this rental. Thank you, Della and Max, for letting us stay. Mahalo! If you have access to a 4-wheel drive (or don't mind scrambling over lava gravel for a while) the Kekaha Kai State Park near the airport is wonderfully beautiful.

we are coming to Hawaii, Big Island, since 1990 and we stayed in the last five years for half a year in Kailua Kona. Last winter we were two months at a condo (Palisades) at this place was a lot of dont`s and we could not sleep very often, because of the noise around us. We could hear everything from the people above us. It was a very unpleasant place and we don`t come back. We have a lot of experience, but this time was incredible! Sigi and Susanne Reitlinger from munich

Owner response:What can I say. They were the most rude & demanding people I have ever met.

Peaceful, accessible, affordable...>>> AN INSPIRATION!

Guest: Ryan and Sheena (Guam/Philippines)
Date of Stay: 10/11/10 Review Submitted: 11/10/10

The place definitely looks and feels better than the pictures. we stayed there for a month and we didnt want to leave. we got so comfortable and felt so at home. it is safe because it has its own compound; it is peaceful that Sheena was able to concentrate on my thesis publication; it was romantic because on a clear night, you can lie on the parking lot and look at the sky carpeted with stars; complete amenities, all you need is food to cook; its always breezy and cool even at high noon; max and della are the best - very welcoming, friendly, accommodating, helpful; we recommend this place to those that need peace and quiet to concentrate on writing a book/paper or do art because it is surrounded by greenery and has a great view of the coast. gives one inspiration and focus. we have nothing bad to say. all we hope is for them to let us rent one of their units for a long-term stay. =)

My best enjoyable experience in Kona

It was the best place I have been as a renter. I am a timeshare owner; thus I have had the oppotunity of exchanging flats around the world in several times. However, this condo was a magic and unique place that I will never forget and it will be my anual venue of holidays. Firstly, the place is fantastic, only 5 minutes to the airport. The location is amazing, in a tranquil neighborhood plenty of hawaiian-native flowers, trees and birds. They woke up me every day with their wanderful noises as a sweet paradise´s melody!!. The flat is really adorable. Everything is clean as it was my own home. Everything is tidy, mantained as new and it has everything you need from coffe, salt, vinager, olive oil to the best nice-smelly La Toja Spanish Soap in the bath and flowers in your dining table, bathroom and bedroom, In some moment I really thuoght that I was in the paradise. This kind of fine details do this place the best. Della (the kind and lovely owner) is in every detail reaching the perfection for her hosts. From the nice hawaiian welcome with flowers to the every day attention. The weather is unique and better that in Kona, cool enjoyable at every moment of the day. The independency of your own BBQ, your free parking lot and your own gate clicked for entering to the 5-acres-private property when you want. The bed is better that in the best 5 star hotel where you have been!!! In summary, this is my home in the paradise and from now I book my 2-yearly weeks of my holidays in Kona with Della and Max. It is the superb place to enjoy the paradise.

Excellent Value

Of four different condos we stayed at during our trip to the Islands in March of 2010, this was without question the most spacious and tastefully decorated. From the beautiful frosted glass sliding panels separating the bedroom from the living area, to the large kitchen it was easy to feel that this was a home away from home. We paid well over double at other locations that were neither as large or as nice. While it is not on the beach nor right in the shopping district, it is quite conveniently located if you have a car. This rental is a one bedroom apartment in a new four of five unit building located on a four acre undeveloped lot in a residential area and primarily renting to vacationers. Located part way up the mountain, directly above the airport the location provides welcome cooler evening temperatures for sleeping that range five to six degrees lower than those in Kona. It is obvious that a lot of care and “sweat equity” has been put into this building by the owners who live next door. The personal touch was very evident from the time we were met at the front gate, to the fresh flowers greeting us in the unit. Lots of privacy, but with the knowledge that the owners are only a minute or so away if we needed anything. On the subject of the owners, you would have to go a long way to meet two more interesting, energetic and likable folks than Della and Max. If you are looking for a luxurious five star condo surrounded by beautiful grounds and located on the beach or the “main drag”, this probably is not the place for you. However, if a safe, clean, comfortable, inexpensive place to stay in the Kailua-Kona area, then it would be difficult if not impossible to find anything better than this.

Real Kona Living

I had a wonderful time staying here. The relaxed, peaceful setting up the mountain was just what I was looking for, to get away. I found the location to be very close to all of the wonderful beaches of the Kohala Coast. The accommodations which were the cheapest in town, were new and clean. From the minute we met Della and Max we were greeted with aloha. They were eager to answer any questions about the Island with their extensive local knowledge. I will definitely be back!
