Anchor Lodge, Where Family Traditions Are Born...

Anchor Lodge located on the Southwest cape of Alligator Point, was built in the 1950's to escape from South Georgia to the soothing Gulf breezes. Currently, the fourth-generation of the owners are enjoying family reunions to the Point. The 3 bedroom house is on one level which is ideal for retirees, and children. Oak trees line the yard while the terrace with 50% shade allows for some great 'therapeutic' time to relax. There are no hotels, bars, and other tourist attractions to disturb you. It's kind of like being in the country at the beach!
Anchor Lodge has 3 bedrooms (1 King, 1 Queen & 1 Full) with sleeping room in the living room on 2 futons and 1 convertible bed.
There are 2 full bathrooms, one with a shower/tub the other with standing shower. However, most of our guests prefer to bathe in the outdoor shower on the back deck, especially after a long day on the beach.
The stocked kitchen offers a variety of cooking supplies to create a culinary masterpiece. A large dining table that seats eight comfortably and a breakfast bar with room for three, offer seating for larger parties.
There is also a washer and dryer in the pump house on the back deck that also holds a variety of beach chairs and toys.
The beach side patio is a favorite for lounging in 50% shade, taking a afternoon cat nap in the hammock, or watching a beautiful Gulf sunset. Stairs from the patio lead to a private walk to the beach. They are easy to access and allow for quick dips in the ocean, especially at low tide when the sand bar is out. After dark sea turtle safe patio lights allow for a continued outdoor experience, but we suggest taking some time in the dark to count shooting stars!
Alligator Point is on of the few dog friendly beaches on the Gulf Coast allowing for your K-9 friend to enjoy all the beach has to offer. Please observe local leash laws with all pets. Pets are allowed with a deposit.

We really enjoyed this beach house and especially the cabana! We watched a lot of dolphins and the highlight was standing on beach and dolphins coming to shore fishing! It was shocking to see that fin coming so fast towards me then spin a circle, splash, and head back out! Property was on quiet street with a handful of people on beach daily. King bed was so comfortable! Kitchen had everything you would need! The bonus was a gas grill for cooking fresh grouper from the My Way fish market. Usually, we only find charcoal grills avail at rentals.Very clean place!Recommended for: Families with young children, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Anchor Lodge provided the much needed break from the 'real world' that this family needed. The house oozes with old Florida history. We really felt like part of the family. House has a great ac unit and an endless supply of hot water (which is nice when everyone comes in from the beach at the same time). The kitchen is rustic, but fully stocked with great cookware and appliances. Everything is very neat and clean. Owners were very nice and even left us some veggies from their own garden! If you are looking for a getaway from it all - this is the place to be. Saw very few other people this week, but lots of sea life including sand dollars, starfish, hemit crabs and dolphins. I highly recommend Anchor Lodge for families with small to teenage children. We especially loved the wooden decked walkway to the beach and the hammock area.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, pet owners, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

You're very own kiahuna on the beach!! If you like looking off your very own private deck to gaze at the oceans crashing waves you'd love this house. This sweet beach home has every thing you need for a lovely trip to the beach, all it needs is you to make for a special trip away from home! You're very own beach home away from home!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.
