If you seek a vacation in a magnificent home, not a rental house, then you will find "Bear Lodge" to be your place. A magnificent 5400+ square foot NON SMOKING, custom home built true LOG HOME built from 'massive logs from Western Canada' and features a lovely view of Grandfather Mountain. Nothing but the best, including the latest Wi-Fi available to all renters. It was built in 2001 and is simply the best in a great location with a gorgeous western view of Grandfather Mountain and nearby areas. Only 4 miles from downtown Blowing Rock, less than one mile from the famous Westglow Spa, two miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 5 miles to Appalachian Ski Mountain, approximately thirty minutes to Sugar Mountain, and located in well-known Misty Mountain on Hwy 221 towards Grandfather Mountain from downtown Blowing Rock.
The huge great room features a soaring 27' tall ceiling.
The large kitchen has commercial grade stainless steel appliances.
The large Master Bedroom is special and the Master Bath has a magnificent 84" x 69" Jacuzzi tub plus a walk in shower.
We have wonderful sleeping accomodations:
two bedrooms with KING beds
one bedroom with a Queen bed
two bedrooms with two TWIN beds
(each of these four bedroom has it's own private bath)
Additionally, the spacious vaulted loft has two TWIN beds that would share the loft bathroom with the other twin beds room.
In cooler months, you will love the warm floors provided by in-floor radiant heat.
Outside, you will enjoy over 1200 square feet of deck space suitable for al fresco dining or a grand cocktail party, plus a wonderful view of Grandfather Mountain from the rear of the house, which includes a 72' wide full width deck on the main level and a smaller deck on the terrace level.
Children will love the upstairs loft plus the terrace level den.

Bear Lodge was a spectacular place to have a family vacation. Very spacious, clean and all the amenities one could ask for. The great room was perfect for the families to gather in the evening and tell stories of what occurrred that day, watch a movie or play the Wii games. The rooms were spacious, especially the master bedroom with a spa bathroom, and accommodated a large party easily. There were so many nice areas in the home, you almost didn't want to venture out to take part of the mountain activities. The home was easy to get to and close to all that the NC mountains have to offer. One week didn't seem like enough time to do it all. We look forward to returning again to Bear Lodge in the future.

Our stay at Bear Lodge was a most memorable one. Being a Native Floridian, we were pretty excited to have rented the home for Christmas expecting a white Christmas. All though we didn't have a white Christmas,we had a wonderful time. The home is located in the small town of Blowing Rock surrounded by restaurants and little shops. One of my daughter's favorite place was Oh La La Cupcake, one word delicious! The owner of Bear Lodge was a true delight to do business with. His description of the home was exactly as he listed. The home was not only spacious it was beautifully decorated. The gourmet kitchen was quite pleasureable to cook in, all the appliciances worked perfectly. All the rooms had their own private bathroom with the exception of the loft wich shared a bathroom with one of the bedrooms. The master on the main floor and the bedroom on the third floor had it's own balcony with rocking chairs, it was one of my many favorite places to sit and enjoy the view. We had alot of great family time in the kitchen and in the great room enjoying the fireplace. As I mentioned, we were not fortunate enough to have a white Christmas my daughter did see snow. We visited the Appalachian Ski Mountain which was about 20 minutes away and became professional Florida skiers (thank God for the Jacuzzi in the home). We also visited Hawks Nest which was also quite close to the home but because the drive was a beautiful scenic drive I can't remember how long it took us to get there. My family and I had such a great time we are looking forward in renting the home again. I truly recommend this home to everyone for every occassion.
