Exceptional home

Guest: Jim (Indianapolis)
Date of Stay: 11/17/11 Review Submitted: 11/30/11

We had a wonderful time sharing Northern Sonoma County, which we have found to be one of the most special places on earth, with the group of friends we count as some of the most special people we know.   Your house in the hills gave us a perfect place to unwind each evening  and start each day. Thanks so much for sharing it with us and accommodating our requests.

Amazing European Style Villa

Guest: Kim (Chicago)
Date of Stay: 09/22/11 Review Submitted: 10/01/11

We have just returned from our stay at this amazing property and words can't describe what a great time we had! We were a group of 5 couples spending a long weekend in the beautiful California wine country and decided that retreating back to a home after touring all day was just the right touch. This home is so much nicer than the photos can show (and the photos are great!!) We each had our own bedroom/bathroom, great linens, great views, spacious bathrooms and no one felt like they were in a "kid's room". We cooked dinner in the evenings...the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. We just wished the days were longer so that we could have spent more time lounging by the pool overlooking the view. We decided as a group that our weekend would have been perfect if we had just scheduled in at least one day to stay home and enjoy the house to its fullest. We would stay here again in a heartbeat and can't recommend it highly enough.

Great family reunion in pictureque setting!

Thanks so much for allowing us to share Casa de Campo with you. Your beautiful wine country home was the perfect place to bring our family together to celebrate our recent wine country wedding. For the past 30 years my grandparents owned a small winery and restaurant in the Midwest on the Ohio River and had visited the Napa Sonoma area on several occasions. With my grandfather’s passing two years ago, our visit to the wine country for this family gathering was a very special time for everyone, and your house and property was just the right setting. Everyone left with the feeling that we had just spent a long weekend in the Italian countryside, with all the conveniences of being a short distance from San Francisco. We actually prefer the Sonoma area for that reason and thoroughly enjoyed the solitude and privacy. Hope we can keep in touch and possibly arrange for a return visit – from now on when we think of the California wine country we will think of the memorable time we had with our family at Casa de Campo.

Tuscany on the West Coast - ideal for family/friend reunion

Guest: Nina (Washington DC)
Date of Stay: 04/08/11 Review Submitted: 05/14/11

Spent an amazing reunion weekend with old friends in this fabulous house on this stunning property. The whole house is decorated with exquisite taste, the rooms super spacious and comfortable (still dreaming about the sheets).. Best of all are the common rooms for getting together with friends -- kitchen/living and dining rooms....Never seen a house with such a well equipped kitchen. Was a pleasure to cook with and for our group of 12. If you can tear yourself away from the house and lap pool, there are lovely walks in the surrounding hills....and good restaurants not too far away. Would recommend most highly!

Escape

Guest: Lise (NYC)
Date of Stay: 04/08/11 Review Submitted: 04/18/11

Coming from Manhattan, we found this house has everything our home lacks: lots of open space, 360-degree views, fresh air, no traffic, no neighbors, unmapped walks, wildflowers, a delicious lap pool, and ironed sheets that seem to be made of extremely long, smooth cotton fibers. I thought all the wine country was overrun by tourists and tacky tastings - no! This is a hideaway and very worth the extra minutes from the airport. All manageable. Nearby town is tiny and worth visiting, but you'll want to get back to the house for more reading, more relaxing, more walking.

Thank you for providing the accomodations on a trip of a lifetime!

Casa de Campo, I’m glad you were satisfied with the condition your wonderful home was left in. I had no doubt it would be. From the minute we all (twelve of us) walked into your home, there was no doubt in any of our minds, it would be left in a fashion that would provide us the opportunity to return. Your home is BEYOND BEAUTIFUL!! You have done a incredible job, and we all thank you so much for sharing it with us for such a great occasion. Our weekend birthday celebration could not have gone better in any regard. Our accommodations were “over the top.” Not a hiccup w/ our travel. Our restaurant visits were great (your recommendation of Barndiva for lunch was a huge hit, a 10 on a scale of 10!). Our many Vineyard/Winery visits were excellent, particularly our visit to the Jordon Vineyard who treated us like Royalty. Your recommendation of Susan and Jeff Mall (Executive Chefs from the Zin Restaurant)turned out to be more than I could have asked for. Their delicious food, outstanding presentation and personal touch (autographed cook book {Jeff’s} for a b-day present) made Mary’s birthday one she will always remember, along with the rest of us. Our final chapter brought us to Sausalito and to downtown San Fran. Mother Nature was obviously wired in on this phenomenal weekend, as she cleared the skies, and provided us the perfect backdrop for the touristy sight-seeing we wrapped up our trip with. With all the great food, wine and beer I did in fact have to keep my daily jog in place. Man, those hills are killers!! Despite my several efforts, I could not find those darn Sonoma Conda’s (several deer and other wildlife though). Yet another reason to return!! Susan, it has been a true pleasure to work with you. I cannot thank you enough for making this weekend one we will ALL treasure forever, and for making me look good (like I actually knew what I was doing!!). Very sincerely, Michael

The ultimate retreat!

Guest: kate & ross (New York, NY)
Date of Stay: 08/14/10 Review Submitted: 09/07/10

My husband and I rented the property for the week leading up to our Sonoma wedding to bring together our families and enjoy wine country. We hired a personal in-home chef and housekeeper and everyone was able to kick back, relax and enjoy their stay. We utilized every moment of the sunny pool which was large enough to swim laps. Every morning my sisters and I ran 4.5 miles down the mountain on the dirt road (great running surface) and then BACK UP, it was the ultimate workout. Our stay was a true escape: lavender permeates the air surrounding the home; apple, raspberry, lime and numerous other plants are in abundance; packs of coyotes howled at the moon running around the mountainside in the middle of the night. Downtown Geyserville is very charming and nearby vineyards abound. We hope to return to this area again and again. Shannon was a lovely hostess and assisted us to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We are extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to stay here.

Beautiful Wine Country Estate with spectacular outdoor area

Guest: Valerie (San Francisco, CA)
Date of Stay: 07/30/10 Review Submitted: 08/27/10

After some serious searching for the right location, I rented this estate (along with some good friends) as a surprise to celebrate my husband's 45th birthday. I was very hopeful that the property would live up the the beauty in the pictures. I can't say enough about how pleased we were, driving up and seeing the property. We were even more amazed walking through the house and then out to the outdoor area with the pool. Often when you rent a home, even a very large and well appointed one, you give up a lot of the luxury, ammenities and privacy a nice hotel has to offer. Not the case here. The house is beautiful; incredibly well appointed, luxurious, spacious and many of us noted on several occasions how well thought out and designed the outdoor area was. The pool is fantastic, with space to lounge (and very comforable loungers), grassy areas, a seperate sitting area with BBQ, and lovely landscaping all around. The kitchen proved to be a gathering place - grand but very comfortable at the same time. Everything we needed to accomodate our group was there, and more. We lounged, ate, enjoyed wine, hiked, rode bikes and fully appreciated the beauty of our surroundings. Since we live in San Francisco, we know the area fairly well - and have rented within Sonoma several times. (nothing compares to the experience we had here, though) Our weekend was perfectly amazing. I cannot wait to find a reason to come back. I highly recommend this property.

A perfect getaway

Guest: jaybee755
Date of Stay: 07/16/10 Review Submitted: 08/01/11

It was about a year ago now when my wife and 5 other couples, all dear friends, congregated at Casa de Campo to celebrate the 40th birthdays of several of our group. Looking at the pictures on the web site brought back a flood of overwhelmingly beautiful memories and tears welled up in my eyes. Words (and even the gorgeous pictures on the site) do not do justice to this heaven on earth. The scenic beauty and isolated peace compel you to slow down, relax and breathe deeply while taking in the panoramic view. And when you've had your fill of that you can take a dip in the inviting infinity pool. Inside the good things just keep coming. The huge gourmet kitchen is as inviting as it is useful. The central island provides a spacious working area where several can work at once festively. The bedrooms are spacious, homey and full of character. The layout of the house provides several areas to congregate without feeling crowded. This is a place kings and queens wished they had as a palace. Be careful if you go though: you will not want to leave and your heart will pine to go back ever after, as mine does.

Heavenly Get-A-Way

Guest: Lori (Oakland, CA)
Date of Stay: 07/15/10 Review Submitted: 09/17/10

I was tasked with finding the ultimate wine country retreat for 6 couples to celebrate 5 people turning 40 that year. I searched and searched for an entire year online for options, went to the wine country twice to look at 5 other properties in person and really felt like I had researched every 6 bedroom available in the area. Casa De Campo blew everything away. The sheer fact that every bedroom was big and beautiful with its own bathroom was so unusal. It has such a great modern villa feel that was the ultimate cool. Most other properties that said they had 6 bedrooms offered an awkward 5th and 6th bedroom. The 6 couples were blown away. I cannot even begin to count the times that people were in awe over the views, the pool, the kitchen, the garden, the décor, the bedroom, the architecture, the sheer awe of it all. We all felt so lucky to be at such a special place. We were very smart about our stay and brought everything we would need for the weekend including food, drinks, croquet, sundries etc. since it is a long trip up a windy road and not convenient to run out to pick up extra things. But once you are there you will not want to leave. We cooked fabulous meals in the gourmet kitchen and dined outside with the breathtaking views. We hired a yoga instructor and our group did yoga on the big lawn, we rented canoes and went down the Russian River and we lounged by the pool. It was an especially hot weekend and we really appreciated the owner coming up and bringing an extra umbrella for us. I did my homework and it truly paid off big time in finding the ultimate touches where all 12 adults could feel like they were in their own private 5 star hotel room but with access to a big a private resort with all their friends.

Blissful Stay

Date of Stay: 06/27/10 Review Submitted: 07/13/10

My husband and I rented this beautiful property for our 20th anniversary. As other posters have mentioned the photos do not represent how truly beautiful this house and surroundings are. We spent most of our days lounging at the poolside which is surrounded with lavender. It is a completely secluded and private romantic getaway. The house was stocked with the most luxurious linens and towels. The finishes are beautiful, gorgeous wooden doors, polished concrete floors, carrera marble and a fabulous 8 burner Wolf stove. The location is perfect, far enough for privacy but close to Geyersville and Healdsberg when you can drag yourself away from the pool. Amazing wineries are minutes away, try Diavola in Geyersville for excellent thin crust pizza and local wines for lunch and Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsburg for a lovely dinner on the terrace. We have stayed in beautiful villas around Europe and plenty of 4 Seasons resorts North America/Carribean and Asia but this was a very special experience and is at the top of the list. Be sure to bring your IPOD and portable speakers for the poolside and stop at Big John's and the Oakville Grocery in Healdsburg to pick up some great food and wine. You won't want to leave! Albert and Shannon were lovely hosts with great suggestions of where to visit. Thanks to you both for sharing your beautiful home!

Owner response:An appreciation of the fine finishes and elegant surroundings enhances the stay at our house. These guests are an example of those who enjoy this type of house & what it provides with an understanding of how to care for it.

Fabulous

Date of Stay: 04/29/10 Review Submitted: 06/03/10

Four couples from Southern California traveled to the Wine Country for an extended weekend and we could not have had a better time. The Palladian Villa is a perfect spot to get away from the rat race. The home is magnificent and the tranquility is worth the drive up the hill. All we could hear were the sounds of birds and the wind in the trees. We are "foodies" and the huge kitchen is fantastic for a large group with all of the finest appliances. Once we arrived at the property, we didn't want to leave and we ate all of our meals and cancelled going to the wineries so we could maximize our time in this beautiful setting. One of the people in our group is among Southern California's top interior designers and she said the interior design was top of the line. If considering this location, you should plan to spend a lot of time on the property and bring in plenty of food and drink when you arrive. The drive in and out of the property is beautiful but it is not a place where you can just run to the market. The home was clean and well maintained. We had plenty of firewood which added to the ambiance. We hope to return next year and highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a first class escape from the City.

We were a group of close friends attending a wedding in Sonoma for the weekend. Not only did we enjoy our stay, we still talk about it as a dream weekend. The home is probably the most beautiful property anybody can enjoy. Believe me when I say that we are all well travelled and have stayed in some of the best hotels and properties around the world. Yet to this day every home, hotel or resort we stay in is dwarfed in comparison. it is one of the best kept secrets of Alexander Valley.

We rented this house on a recent trip to Sonoma. We had high expectations, but the house superseded them. The house is beautifully decorated with impeccable taste, every room is luxuriously furnished. The top-of-the-line kitchen is ideal for cooking and entertaining. We (very comfortably) shared the house between 11 people, and there was ample space and privacy for everyone. The owner was very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. We loved this house so much, it was hard to leave..

The home is absolutely wonderful. The views, furnishings and location are all amazing. We spent most of the time in the pool, but the gardens and interiors shouldn't be missed. Taverna Santi in Geyserville is a great spot to get incredible Italian food. The house is up a long, 4 mile dirt road which takes about 15 minutes to drive so come prepared to relax and enjoy!

We stayed at this property for a long weekend to celebrate my husband's 30th birthday and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The house is exceptional (I really don't think that the website photos capture the size, design details and grandeur of the property - it is truly special). It is in a beautiful spot overlooking the valley with stunning views, gorgeous landscaping and a very relaxing and serene outdoor pool area. The house is ideal for big groups or for families with children and has every amenity possible, particularly for people who like to cook. The surrounding areas are packed with things to do in Geyserville and Healdsburg (Locals tasting room, Zin, Cyrus, Diavola and many beautiful small wineries). A perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy lots of wine and great food. We had a fantastic holiday and would certainly not hesitate to recommend this home as the ideal place to spend your time in Sonoma. We will certainly be back!

Casa del Campo is absolutely the best place to relax. The house and views are magical and worth the drive. There is only one negative aspect. You must drive to Healdsburg for provisions. Our family loves to cook and we only dined in a restaurant once-Santi in Geyserville and it was exceptional. The pictures on the web site do not do justice to this absolutely wonderful home.

Experience of a lifetime

Date of Stay: 12/27/08 Review Submitted: 01/11/09

Words and photographs hardly capture the grandeur and perfection of this extraordinary house. You will experience the luxury and attention to design and detail akin to the finest hotels but also privacy, pastoral open space, and a fabulous kitchen. We held a family reunion here after the birth of our second child. The villa easily accommodated people of all ages, with private baths for every bedroom, thick down comforters and crisp linens like I've only seen in Europe. There is ample private and communal space to spend a week with relatives, no matter how well you get on with them! Everyone enjoyed roaming the quiet country roads, by walking or cycling, and daily adventures to the local wineries. In the town of Healdsburg, we had a great lunch at Willie's Seafood and indulgent dinner at Cyrus. If you have the budget, this is the place for an unforgettable getaway in a unique house. The owners were very kind and accommodating, and delivered everything as promised. We can recommend it with no reservations.

Enchanting house in Sonoma hills

The house looks even better than it did on the pictures. It's fabulous, when beautiful views and a great pool. It is very well equipped, clean, and in perfect condition and the owners were very helpful with any questions or requests we had. We just wanted to stay there for a whole month! Everyone in our our family, from the 7 year-olds to the 83 year-old enjoyed it. The house is pretty far away from town on a dirt road, so it takes work to go places. There are good restaurants in Geyserville that were recommended by the owners. We went to Cyrus in Healdsburg for an elegant dinner and it was wonderful. If you want to sleep in in the morning, make sure to pack eye masks as there are no curtains on the bedroom windows.

This home is absolutely beautiful and the location makes it a very special place. Up a long 4 mile dirt road, the home sits all by itself so provision well before getting to the house. We played bocce ball, lunched outside, hiked the roads every morning, felt totally secluded. It was very tough to leave, but we did go down to Healdsburg and had a great lunch at Barndiva. We brought our Ipod & speakers for music outside, and enjoyed every second at the pool. It was fabulous, and we would love to return some day.
