We appreciate all reviews so that we can know all areas in which we are doing well or can fix anything that reflect on our home and business. We strive to upkeep our homes in good, clean condition to provide the atmosphere our guests experience.
We have left some décor in original style (flocked wallpaper in a bathroom) which some guests have commented positively about. Without itemizing, we have invested in improvements since we bought the Summit House replacing roof, siding, carpeting, 2 new heat and air systems, all new windows and doors and are in the process of replacing interior paneling with native red cedar. We have replaced 90% of the furniture at least twice in 11 years due to damages by a very few guests. Mattresses are changed every 4 years. There are 16 extra blankets in closets for 11 beds and three hide-a-beds. We have a 100 year old 8' solid cherry antique desk that has a sign not to move it. We have an antique 8' marble buffet for service ware.
When guest are leaving at 11 am the day you might be arriveing please allow time for housekeeping to clean and prepare the house for you.

Free entry to this state park with three play grounds, 14 miles of Hiking Trails that lead to five springs, two free tennis courts, summer water slide pool in state park only $4 per day per person, basket ball hoops, Lake Dardanelle boating below mountain, Hang-gliding (Class 3 minimum), Watercolor class $240 with materials provided for up to ten in your group each person has a painting competed, best souvinior from your stay at this famous mountain class by owner Cynthia must book before arrival. The air is so clean and clear up above the river valley, that you never want to go back home. The visitors center has a few groceries, souviniors and bike rides, a bag of corn mix is one dollar to feed the deer that will arrive daily to graze on the grass. If you shack the bag of corn they come running up closer to you for the feed. I have seen many clusters of deer all over the park. Please remember you may Photograph but No Hunting is Allowed. There is a walmart at the bottom of the hill that you can visited any time for your food. Especially if you have an awesome cook. The deer are roaming everywhere. I would see and hear them in the woods on our walks. Take a hiking trail one day....just the easy one..that is kinda cool too. If is gets a little dark walk up to the road for part of the walk back to the Summit House because the road is always near the trails. My first trip to Mount Nebo was in my 1968 British Leyland MBG with its low profile. I enjoyed all the turns in the road. I had just graduated from Russellville High School in 1974 and thought to myself, how could anyone afford to build big houses up here, in the state park, as I passed the Summit House on my way to ‘Sunset Point’. Now that we own the exact house. Now eleven years later we have made big improvements and enjoy our trips to the house monthly to check on the yard and quality of cleaning from our service provider, new pool table with equipment, the Direct TV Satellite reception and Hydro tub in the master bedroom. Pride of ownership brings us to renovations and the first thing we had to do was change the siding from cedar to vinyl then we changed the windows and doors from aluminum to double pane and hinged. All the interior walls were painted or replaced by sheet rock with acrylic murals or Arkansas cedar and the interior doors are new. The flooring on the main floor is now porcelain tiled and the kitchen has new Formica counters. There is a new garbage disposal, dish washer and faucet in the kitchen. Arriving on top of the mountain there is a wonderful clean clear breeze as the temperature changes about 10 degrees from the 1800 ft elevation. Evening is a great time to be outdoors; we usually go to Sunset Point to enjoy watching the sunset, then the stars show up and the moon rises over head. We head home to our Summit House for dinner then sit on the porch swing sipping a glass of wine while, deer and an armadillo come across the yard in front of us. We pose no threat and enjoy their presence. Then the lights are coming on in the houses of Dardanelle, Delaware and Russellville so beautiful to sit in the double swing and watch them, but we can also see the lights of Greenbriar and Clarksville. After a tranquil sleep I rise to make coffee and find Fox News on the TV. As the sun rises from the east I watch from my chair the different layers of clouds it passes through and I’m grateful to be the first person in Arkansas to see the sunrise over the horizon, since I am so high up above the Arkansas River Valley. Now for a hike around the Rim Trail which is my favorite with its majestic views and towering rocks and trees bent over from windy storms that have passed by. Six short trails to the springs offer short cuts to the Bench trail which is a level roadway from days gone by when houses were built one hundred years ago but they burned in the 1920’s when a fire swept through to end a decade of grander times. I have found old stone chimneys, foundations and wells near the trails. All the seasons are wonderful, in the Spring you see the dogwood trees bloom, in summer you see the baby fawns birthed by does, fall the fuzzy spikes come on the yearlings and winter trees shed the leaves to give the grand view of the valley laying out below. During our visit to the Summit House, practically every waking moment is spent enjoying this wonderful place, indoors and out. Recycling is a must here at our vacation rental. We need your help to keep trash recycle in order. Please put aluminum cans no foil or tin in the marked trash can. Break down all boxes and make a stack by the trash cans. Unrecyclable trash should be bagged and put in the unmarked trash can....moreless

For many years my family has come here to enjoy each others company, catch up, to play music, have an auction and reminisce in memories. There are three generations to share their experiences in life. We all come from different life styles yet we all feel at home here every time we gather at the Summit House which is clean with beds made and clean towels under the sinks. We are proud to continue this yearly reunion tradition and can only hope that other families can let go of their busy lives for a week to do the same with their dear families. We also had a daughter get married at sunset point with a beautiful reception in this big living room of 60 feet long. They even provided the tables that fold up and store out of the way in the game room. We found silver trays and a punch bowl to serve the food we brought and didn't pay high prices for a catering service. This view is priceless and free to all that come to the Mount Nebo state park but we stay the night and watch the spectacular sunrise before any one else sees it in Arkansas. The Mount Nebo trails are every where and clearly marked to find your way home after we fine geo'cache.sites on each trail we take. Now this bonus is like treasure hunting. We hope to continue this tradition for years.

This was the best experience I've ever had. Our family stayed at The Summit House for my son's wedding at the nearby Pavilion. We could not have had a better time. What a beautiful house furnished and adorned with wonderful paintings throughout. A view to die for and a bed I never wanted to leave. Couldn't have asked for more. Just loved it.

Large group of my friends and I descended on Mt. Nebo for an extended weekend of fun. This home was PERFECT....very clean, very comfortable, lots of beds and bedrooms... and a view that you can't believe!!! There were deer in the yard each evening, the spring flowers were just starting to emerge and we had a wonderful time.

We loved our stay at the Summit House! Lots of space, very comfortable, beautiful views - couldn't ask for anything more. We hiked and hiked, played golf, relaxed, visited the Visitors Center (many times! very helpful), watched the sun rise at Sunrise Point and sunset at Sunset Point (very close). The drive up the mountain was always very entertaining for the kids - 2 miles, straight up...15 switchbacks. We'll be back for sure!

The home itself was adequate. It had plenty of room for our entire wedding party. It was a convent location close to where my husband and I got married. It had a neat layout and beautiful views. Sadly, I can't rate it any higher than average due majorly to the fact that the heat for 2 days and a night while we were there. It was in November and freezing cold! My entire wedding party was frozen trying to get ready. My feet were so cold I couldn't walk down the stairs in my heels! The owners didn't show up to fix it until 20 minutes before my 4:00 pm wedding started. We were offered no discount or any kind of anything for our huge inconvenience. I didn't even get an apology! No phone call after the fact, no face to face apology--NOTHING! I won't ever stay again because of it.

Owner response: We want our guest to be happy and comfortable when they rent our home. The house has two new heat pumps in the 4400 sq ft home with one up stairs and one down stairs. The newest one year old is up stairs and has a digital touch screen reader. We drove sixty miles north on Hwy 7 ASAP to see about the problem and have it fixed as soon as we got the phone call. We do apologize for your inconvenience. It is hard to second guess nature in Arkansas. My daughters November out door wedding at this house was 72 degrees and sunny.

Cynthia, I and some women from my church rented one of your houses in August on the 24th of this year. I apologize for not responding sooner. I wanted to give you some feedback on my experience while staying there. I would like to start out by saying that I had a wonderful time staying at the Summit House, I loved the view, it was very beautiful. The house was neat and very clean which are very high on my standards, and I would definitely recommend this house to my family for their get-together and to my friends. My stay there was so relaxing and the view was just breathtaking.

Most everything is as advertised it is a nice house with plenty of room and great views. I think the pricing is fair and I really like the way the landlord incorporated insurance in the contract to protect you and them. I don't think anyone in our group had any complaints. The pool table was old cheap and rickety, but that is understandable because i doubt things like that are very well taken care of by most renters. the house had its charm even with the 70's style carpets. The house could use a horse shoe pit and/or Vally ball net; but then again I guess I can see a lot of Vballs going over the cliff and the nets getting torn up a lot. The neihbors complained about us parking on their lawn but were nice enough about it and after a conversation it was obviouse they were frustrated by renters are always parking on their lawn and even spoke of one time taking their grill. I think this is an issue the landlord needs to deal with. I recommend a fence or something marking the boundries and instructions in the house to not use equipment from other house because they are personally owned. All in all I recommend this house.

Our stay at the Summitt House was awesome. It was exactly as described on the website and well suited for our large family reunion. It is one of those places that you walk into and immediately feel welcome. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of pillows, linens, etc. to go around when it came time to bed the kids down on the futons. The game room with the pool table was a lot of fun for us, the teenagers especially as they had their own place to hang out. Watching a hang glider take off from the cliff next door behind the vistor's center was one of the highlights of our trip. Enough cannot be said about the spectacular view; it was breathtaking. The only thing I would recommend is that you think twice about planning anything here that involves small children as there is no fencing to obstruct the view and you would have to make sure they stay in the front yard; but, as we had teens this was no problem. There was plenty of room for parking. The yard was quite large and accomodated playing games, grilling, etc. I will definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a place big enough to accomodate a large group of people.

Owner response: We are happy to accommodate large families and glad you enjoyed the Summit House. We are now installing flower beds on the lawn edge on the view side with iris and climbing rose bushes. We look forward to your stay again. Thank you, Cynthia

The Summit House was beautiful and perfect for our needs as a place for our son's rehearsal dinner and after wedding party. We had 30+ guests for the Rehearsal Dinner and 60+ for the After Dinner Party. The murals on the walls in the dinning room and the living room added to the relaxed atmosphere and gave the feeling that the spaces were much larger that they were. The cedar paneling was gorgeous. The downstairs was wheelchair accessible; however, none of the bedrooms were as they are all upstairs. Our family plans to have a family reunion here in the future. Several of our guests inquired about the house and indicated that it was such a pleasant experience that they would be leasing it in the near future.

                      Owner info

                      Year Purchased: 2001

About the owner: Daniel and Cynthia have been married for 35 years and have three married children and three grand children. This photo of us was taken at Sunset Point 1000 ft from our house so we usually walk here each evening. We enjoy Mount Nebo with the air so clean and cooler in a summer breeze above the valley. We love all its hiking trails, wildlife, tennis courts and its so beautiful. My first trip to Mount Nebo was in my 1968 British Leyland MBG with its low profile. I enjoyed all the turns in the road. I had just graduated from Russellville High School in 1974 and thought to myself, how could anyone afford to build big houses up here, in the state park, as I passed the Summit House when it was being built. Now that we have owned the exact house for eleven years I know that the bank loan has a lot to do with the purchase. My husband Daniel with the help of our youngest daughter Jessie was scouting out a place to have our twenty fifth wedding anniversary celebration. They saw a for rent sign in the front yard and called the number and it was not available on our date. He asked if anything ever came up for sale up on Mount Nebo. The owner Jack Burris said no, nothing comes for sale up here, but he wanted to retire and would consider selling the house to us. But we looked way to young and under dressed to be approved for this loan, but with good credit we closed within 30 days. Now eleven years later we have made big improvements to the house and flowerbeds and enjoy our trips to the house monthly to enjoy our new pool table, the Direct TV Satellite and Hydro tub for two in the master bathroom. The view is always changing with each day.

Why the Owner Chose Mt Nebo State Park:
We fell in love here and the memories are sweet here on Mount Nebo with lots of out door activities, like tame wild life to feed corn and to photograph. No hunting allowed in this beautiful park. Hang gliders launch from next door and sore above the house. Hike eight different trails that lead to springs to bring youth to any who soak their feet, as legended by the locals. Now that we have owned the exact house for eleven years I know that the bank loan has a lot to do with the purchase. My husband Daniel and I have celebrated our 35 wedding anniversary here and look foreward to more. Arriving on top of the mountain there is a wonderful clean clear breeze as the temperature changes about 10 degrees from the valley.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
My favorite place to be is the Summit House with enough room to enjoy my watercolor painting indoors or out. I also teach my annual watercolor workshop class here with all the stored extra tables and chairs. I always have the best view from the house and enough room for any other activity that might come up like weddings and family reunions with all the sitting areas and beautiful views. This house is in the state park with trails going to six different springs. The children have many games to choose from. I like to see Hang glidding from behind the visitors center next door and star gazing from our bedroom deck here.
