Silversprings is located on an original homestead site, with over thirty pine trees, aspen groves and 80 year old willow trees, and a commanding view of the Grand Tetons. The original farmhouse has been completely remodeled during the twenty years that the current owners have occupied the house, with a 2000 square foot addition, and a separate 1000 square foot guest house. It also includes a detached two stall garage/greenhouse. The house has three full bathrooms, four bedrooms, family room, solarium, dining room, kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances. River rock fireplace in living room with views of the Grand Tetons from this area, and a large separate TV/gaming room. Large bedrooms in a daylight basement, laundry room/bathroom, converted library/den into bedroom on main floor, and a completely remodeled upstairs with slate bathroom, and cozy master suite. The guest cabin was completely remodeled in 2002; it has two half baths, one with a clawfoot tub (off of master bedroom, and the other with Mexican tile/glass shower. Television, and kitchen, makes this cabin a very private retreat. It has a private hot tub off of master suite (in addition to hot tub off front of the house)
Located two and one quarter miles off of the main road, Silversprings is at the end of a very quiet road, with just four other homes located in the neighborhood, all very private from one another (but close enough to call yourself a neighborhood). A great place for kids, sledding hill off the back yard.

Why the Owner Chose Driggs
When we had the opportunity to move from Tetonia to Alta in 1987, we felt very lucky to be able to start our oldest son in first grade at the National Blue Ribbon Alta School, at that time, the entire k-6th was less than fifty students. That was our main focus, as our second son had just been born, and we wanted him to grow up and be a part of the growing Alta Community. With the birth of our third child in 1991, we built the addition for the family....two large bedrooms with west facing windows in the basement, a new laundry room, family room, and office for the dad! Sadly, we divorced in 2001, and at that point, I decided that rather than sell our home, we would convert it to a vacation rental. Well, when life hands you lemons, you make lemonade, right? I know that this was the right decision for us, and although it is a lot of work to maintain the property, especially with the amount of snow we get every winter, I really can't tell you how rewarding it has been for me to share the fruits of our labor with families, I have so enjoyed the reunions of brothers and sisters and parents, with a few weddings thrown in now and again!
The Unique Benefits at this House
I can't even begin to tell you what it is like to wake up on a sunny March morning, and to go out your back door and put on your skate skiis, gather up your dog, and go for miles across the neighbors fields, up into the Teton foothills. Or to ride your mountain bike down a country road to access a forest service backroad and ride all the way to the base of Grand Targhee. If there is any reason that I have stayed fit and young at heart, it is due to the nature of having access to outside exercise all of my adult life. (putting snow suits on mulitple children, and having a sledding hill out the back door hasn't hurt a bit either!)

On graduating from college in the midwest (an English major....thus the library full of books for summer reading!), I decided to head out west, and before settling into a life as a full-time mother, I was first a secondary English teacher. Well, truly, I was first a ski-bum, learning to ski at the age of 22 was no easy task, but it was a skill that has served me well in my parenting life! (my kids all ski faster than I ever did, but we have a lot of fun together!) I have three children, my oldest is turning 28 this summer, and we plan to celebrate in our yard, as it is his "golden birthday" (sorry, the house is not available on July 28th!) I am the groundskeeper, although the local lawn care comes every Friday afternoon for mowing the three acres, and with the willows for shade, there is no nicer yard in Alta!
