Beyond clean and well kept it shows signs of a families love. A book case with everything from the classics to childrens books. Yes it has wifi and also GAMES for a drizzly night in front of the woodstove...UNO, Monopoly BLOCKS(!!) for the kiddies. Perfect for a family getaway or in our case a mini family reunion. Lots of adult doings within a short ride and Randy has left all the information you could possibly want about the Central Valley and Monterey for your perusal. From the Monterety Bay Aquarium to the Steinbeck Center there is something for all. If you want a glorified hotel room don't bother...if you want to watch soaring hawks,hear tree frogs and owls at night , watch the procession of constellations and a bright silver moon before the fog rolls in at night THIS is your spot. Lovely local shopping down the street, a home well stocked with everything you'll need from condiments to a garlic press,TP and laundry powder . The home is amazing, I had never rented a housr before and was surprised when I arrived. The home had more aminities than I would expect to fine in some hotels. The homeowner left lots of information on what there is to do nearby and in many of the nearby cities. Also the homeowner was quick to answer any questions that I had.

Spacious, good beds, but dated

We stayed here for 4 nights while attending the MotoGP races at Laguna Seca and while the stay was pleasant, I'm not sure we'd stay again if given another choice. The Good: Lots of living room, with a pool table, piano, good TV and a clean hot tub. Good comfortable bedding and pillows. A fairly well-stocked kitchen (although we didn't really use it). The property appeared clean and well-maintained. Beautiful, lush property plantings. The Bad. Nearly everything is out-dated, including the bathrooms, the furnishings, etc. (although there was a Dyson vacuum in the closet!) The house is at a fair distance to Laguna and Monterey, which is tiring after a long day or late dinner. There is a nearby rooster that began it's daily noise at about 4 a.m. every day. There is also a dog across the road that seemed to be out all the time and did occasionally bark at night and often during the day. We had our double motorcycle ramp taken from the bed of the truck. There is no garage (although there is the old barn; but beware of owl droppings). I have definitely stayed in far worse places and you most likely wouldn't regret staying here, but my future choice for our purposes would be for a quieter, more updated home, perhaps closer to or south of Monterey.

We rented the house for the MotoGP races in nearby Laguna Seca. The property was charming and quiet. The hot tub got a lot of use! Close enough to Monterey but not too close to avoid the crowds. Warning to travelers, LOCK UP YOUR STUFF! We had one of our new aluminum motorcycle ramps stolen from the back of our pickup truck in the driveway one night. That put a downer on an otherwise pleasant stay.

Owner response:First known theft in 15 years. Plenty of space in back yard to store your valuables. Good advise though.

Hi Randy, I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful vacation we had, and what a perfect location for us to stay. The shortcut that becomes Dolan Rd. was a great way to get over to Rt. 1. We had such an enjoyable time that we've all been bummed ever since we came home. The air is perfectly refreshing. The beaches are quiet. The towns are quaint. We had so many adventures there: Fishing in Santa Cruz, whale watching in Monterey, kayaking at the slough, the aquarium, surfing in Santa Cruz, and celebrated Independance Day on Sun. July 3rd in Soledad. Spent the beginning of the trip and the end of the trip in San Francisco touring such places as Alcatraz, Golden Gate and Fishermen's Wharf. Next year is our 30th wedding anniversary, and my wife would love to travel there again if at all possible. How early can we make reservations with you if we decide to do so? I have suggested your beautiful home to some very nice people who will be travelling there in the near future. I trust it will be ok to give them your info. Your home was perfect for us. The hot tub was awesome on those cool evenings. You did a very good job in your remodel. If anything was found to be out of order please let me know and I will certainly make any reparation. Feel free to use any of my comments on your website, advertising your home. Thanks again for your contribution to a wonderful family vacation. I,m sure my daughter and son in law will also be contacting you about future getaways.

Location is peaceful, and relaxing. Neighbors are not on top of you! Country location, with a wonderful yard, we had fun on the tire swing :) havent done that in a while Ha Ha! Just a short drive to Monterey and loved having the 2 free passes to the Aquarium. We felt at home and so really just wanted to stay home and relax. Thanks Randy for sharing your home away from home. Great place to stay

Our family of six stayed at Casa Langley in June. The weather was wonderful and we enjoyed being near to lots of different attractions. We were close enought to San Jose to take two of our family to the airport during our time at Casa Langley. We also spent time in Santa Cruz, Salinas, San Juan Bautista, and Gilroy in addition to a number of days in the Monterey/Carmel area. The use of the Monterey Bay aquarium passes saved us loads of money since we used them in sequence, two on Monday, two on Wednesday, two on Sunday. The early arrival that members have access to for the aquarium was also very nice. The house itself is spacious and fully stocked. We cooked excellent meals, having artichokes at least twice. The house is in a semi rural area and provided for all our needs.

Relaxing rainy day hideaway

My friends and I were impressed by the photos on the website and even more pleased with the actual property. The house was fresh and obviously well maintained. We rented it for a women's retreat. The beds were comfortable.(Even the hide-a-bed in the sofa!) The kitchen was wonderful. Every possible pot, pan, or necessary utensil was provided. Space was available in the cupboards and refrigerator for the food we brought in. We were unable to use the hot tub or BBQ due to rain most of the weekend. We all enjoyed the pool table and awesome home theater. The electric start gas fire in the fieldstone fireplace in the great room was appreciated by all. A couple of us saw the resident owl when we went to get more wood for the heating stove from the barn. There was a small shopping center within walking distance from the house as well as a Safeway that was only a 5 minute drive away. We are already saving up to come back! Thanks Randy.

Our group had a great time at Casa Langley in November, 2009. There was plenty of room for everybody to have their own space. The pool table & hot tub got used frequently & it was a really well-appointed kitchen that was a pleasure to cook in! Staying at Casa Langley felt like home. The best part was that it is so convenient to paddling on Elkhorn Slough, which is what we came down to do. Thanks so much, Randy!

My husband and I just returned from our two week vacation in this area. We are so glad we decided to rent this house. We are bird watchers and in addition to the fact that the house is wonderful (a lot of space and everything you need) the bird watching around the house was good! We so much enjoyed taking trips each day and being able to return here. This was MUCH better than renting a place in an area with a lot of traffic. We were able to get to places very easily from this house. Elkhorn Slough (good for birding) is very close! We took trips to the Aquarium (thanks Randy for the tickets). It was an easy drive to the many places we wanted to visit including Santa Cruz (wonderful state parks), Pinnacles, Pt Reyes, Moss Landing (great beach close to the house), and many other places. We would definitely recommend this house. We'd stay here again when returning to this area.

"Relaxing" is the best single word to describe Casa Langley. After weighing several lodging options for the 6 people in our party, we chose Casa Langley--definitely a great move. The house is spacious, clean, extremely comfortable and well appointed--it felt like home away from home. The location is quiet and peaceful. We took good advantage of the spa, pool table, dartboard, TV, wireless internet, and Monterey Aquarium passes. It's an easy and pleasant drive to the Monterey area, and was a great place to let down at the end of the day. We picked up a discount card at the local Safeway, and enjoyed preparing meals on the grill and in the kitchen. Randy is great to work with. We would definitely stay here again.

We checked a number of options for our group of 6 (parents with adult children + spouses). The house was by far the way to go. It was everything the owners said it was, and then some! It's an easy drive to the Monterey area (CA 156 to Route 1--very pretty), and was relaxing to "come home" to after a day's activities. We made good use of the amenities. Everything was clean and comfortable. The family room with pool table, spa, and large, well equipped kitchen were pluses. Randy was terrific to work with. We would definitely stay here again. TIPS: - Although there are many restaurants in Monterey County (which we enjoyed), it was fun to buy groceries at local stores for breakfast and other meals. - Check out the owls in the old barn on the property!

I had some cousins from Germany coming to visit for a few weeks in June. They had found this house on a website in Germany and asked me if I could check it out for them. Randy, the homeowner, was MORE than gracious and let me come by to check it out. My cousins and I agree.......IT'S MUCH NICER IN PERSON THAN IN THE PICTURES..and the pictures are great! The house is fully equipped with everything you might need, very spacious, very private and full of entertainment options. Besides the "norm" (TV/DVD, etc) the pool table provided us many family tournaments (to be continued in Germany on our next visit), the piano, bongos, chess boards, books from the library...all a pleasure. The yard is great for a barbq, the hot tub...we never got time to use, but it's there and very private. My cousins enjoyed the "home" environment more than a cramped hotel room so their almost 2 year old could run around and play and burn up energy. The house has EVERYTHING you could imagine for a pleasant getaway. And a side benefit for us was that Randy owns a cat. She is older, and he usually boards her when the house is rented out. My cousins have cats back home in Germany and were delighted to ask Randy to let "Stormy" stay there at the house. They missed their cats back home alot so this made them feel even more at home. The house is out in the country, beautiful, peaceful and not too far from any direction you may want to go...Monterey and south, or San Franciso and north...IT WAS AN AWESOME TIME and YOU will enjoy it as well.

We rented this house for the Sea Otter Classic. It was absolutely perfect. A lot better than being crammed in a Hotel for the same price, if not more. Not too far from Salinas or Monterey. Very spacious and comfortable. Tons of games and entertainment options. The backyard was great to BBQ and relax in the spa. The area is very private and quiet. This place is perfect for a romantic getaway or great for the whole family. We will definitely be back.

Casa Langley was delight for our stay in the Monterey area. We weren't at the house all that often but it was nice having the hot tub, pool table, cable tv, DVD player and the space to be extremely comfortable during our downtime at night. The beds are extremely comfortable and all 4 of us slept like babies and woke well rested for our next days activities. It was well worth the cost since it would cost the same for us to get 2 decent hotel rooms that wouldnt have been near as comfortable. The owners are very helpful and want to do anything that they can to make your stay the best that it can be. TWO THUMBS up for Casa Langley! Thanks again for the experience!

This place was great! Very comfortable and well-equipped. It was more affordable for us than staying right on the coast, and we didn't mind the 1/2 hour commute to Monterey. The aquarium passes were a great bonus. Would definitely stay again, but next time for longer - needed more time to enjoy the hot tub and pool table! Randy is also very pleasant to deal with - thanks, Randy!
