Good apartment, good located. Me and my family had a great time! The apartament is near from Soho, about 15 min walk, and the subway is one block from the apartment. We had everything near, supermarket, shops, restaurants, pub's, etc.

Just returned from a 6 night stay in NYC and thoroughly enjoyed the accommodations at this apartment. It's a 4th floor walk-up, so the initial trip up the stairs with luggage was a bit of a workout, but once we settled in it was a very comfortable home base for our stay. The apartment was just as advertised and the photos in the ad were accurate so there weren't any surprises... it was clean and comfortable. The location is great, with tons of great restaurants in easy walking distance... our post-marathon dinner at Lucien was one of the best meals in recent memory! The heart of Soho is a few minutes' walk away, and subway station access was easy as well. On Saturday night the noise from car horns and people on Houston was a bit much, but it was generally quiet the rest of the time. The rental process was extremely easy and the owners were great. I would absolutely do business with them again and will see if this apartment is available the next time I return to New York. All in all highly recommended!
Owner response:Hi Rian, thanks so much for the great review. Hope to see you back soon. Have a great holiday season!

The apartment is well located (strictly speaking more Lower East Side than East Village but that’s a quibble). The nearby huge and wonderful Whole Foods supermarket makes it definitely worthwhile and useful subway stations are near too. The area is pretty typical New York village – just what we wanted. The stairs are a hell of a climb (US 5th floor, European 4th) but we knew that. The layout is great with two proper double rooms and an excellent kitchen/living area. Landlords Kyle & Georgina are friendly and available. The only gripe with the apartment itself is that the windows look out onto ugly internal courtyards with very noisy extractor fans running all night. Our serious criticism is the lack of proper maintenance: an absolute minimum has been spent for several years and it shows. The result felt like scruffy student accommodation at a very adult price. We were given badly frayed towels (only bath sheet size, no hand or face towels). The main rug in the kitchen area is covered in nasty old stains. Pipe cavities have been messily botch filled with hard foam and at least one of the electrical wall sockets was loose and badly fitted. The air-conditioning units are fitted into the windows with very flimsy plastic surround which let cold air (it was late October) whistle in and the windows were single glazed, unwashed and in one case cracked. Our last 4 days were pretty cold. Despite Kyle’s attempts to persuade the building “super” to act (it’s one of those Soviet style centrally managed heating systems), we only got a total of 30 mins heat in the only radiator in the apartment. The heating pipes elsewhere in the flat stayed resolutely cold. Georgina brought in a little space heater on the very last night, which helped but was much too late as we were bundled up and shivering for three days by then. To use the TV remote, a cupboard door (ill-closing rickety old IKEA) has to stand wide open, blocking passage. This flat should be great but is badly marred by a total lack of investment since it was converted.
Owner response:"We’re very sorry that there were a few issues during your stay. We’re also sorry about the weather during your stay. The manager assured us that the heater for the building had been turned on but since it was in the 60’s that week, it wasn’t cold enough for it to kick on. It's usually a very warm apartment. The apartment was renovated just a few years ago but the building itself was built in the 1930’s so there are bound to be some imperfections. Thank you for bringing the condition of the towels to our attention. There are many newer bath towels and some hand towels in the larger bedroom. Maybe the new ones ended up on the bottom of the stack. We’ve since pulled out the older towels.

Overall..our stay at this location was fantastic. We felt very safe and secure at all times. Accomodations were above and beyond what we expected. We would LOVE to stay at this location again. This property is conveniently located, near a Whole Foods Grocery Store, two subway stops, and a great little restaurant with fantastic desserts, all within a few blocks walking distance. Georgine was very accessible, and on point to help us with any questions, regarding the apartment, through the whole process. Can't wait to come and stay again. Thank you Georgine!!!

We just stayed at this place at the end of July(2011) and it was awesome!! Nice, clean, and in a good location. Close to subway stations that will take you anywhere you need to go, and a short walk away to good food, drink, shopping, and anything else you want to get into. This place didn't have an elevator, stairs only and is about 4 flights. I didn't find the stairs to be a mark against this apt. at all, but if you're a lazy ass, or legitimately can't climb stairs because of a handicap, its the only thing would keep someone away. The owners are very nice and easy to deal with also!!
Owner response:Ha! Jeremy, thanks for such a great review. Much appreciated. Come back any time! G-

The four of us (two couples) stayed for five nights, and absolutely loved how close it was to the subway - which makes it so easy to get uptown, The bedrooms are quite large for NYC (so I'm told) and the kitchen is very easy to use. If you're a very light sleeper, this might not be perfect because of the traffic noise (honking and sirens) - especially on weekends. I can't imagine that anywher else on Manhattan would be too much better, however. If you can't do stairs at all, obviously it's out ..... but then again, so is most of NYC (e.g. the subway isn't accessible). No hidden charges or taxes, Kyle was very nice and took our changing arrival time in stride. Directly below the apartment is a place where you can buy stamps and more importantly a Metro Card for the subway. This area of the city is HOPPING! Hundreds of bars, clubs, diners, restaurants, etc etc within a 15-minute walk. Within a block there are probably 40 food choices alone! Since you're right on Houston, it's not impossible to catch a cab if you need to. The few places we checked out locally (bar, deli, sushi, mexican) were great. Some things in the apartment need replacing or need fixing (I'll email the owners with a short list) but nothing that should prevent you from seriously considering this as your #1 place to stay! Plenty of towels, sufficient number of dishes and cutlery as long as you run the dishwasher occasionally. All in all, this apartment deserves a 5 stars for it's great price, amazing location, and honest advertising! Would visit again!
Owner response:Chris, thanks for such a great review, much appreciated! And thanks for being such great guests. Come back again any time!

Kyle met us at the ap't. and was so pleasant and helpful, he even carried some of our luggage into the ap't. He also took extra time to fill us in on some of the restaurants & stores in the area. Also, Georgine was very accomodating and prompt in answering any questions before our arrival. The apartment was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed, and the east village is an awesome area!
Owner response:Hi Gina, thanks so much for the review. It was great having you as guests. Looking forward to seeing you on your next trip! Best, Georgine

The apartment is rented by a very kind person, who provided us with plenty of information prior to our arrival, and even offered to have our luggages safely watched at her own place so we could enjoy our last day in NY. The place is nice and comfortable, we hope we can come back someday (-:

The apartment was perfect for the four of us. The aspect we most appreciated was the absolute clealiness throughout the apartment. Well stocked and internet available. Georgine was prompt and very helpful. Thanks Fourth floor a bit of a workout, but, if you can't walk stairs, what are you doing in NYC? Totally satisfied

Great communication, great apartment, great value, GREAT CITY. We found the location perfect with lots of things to do and see. Only a short distance from the subway made travelling around very easy. Will definitely be contacting the owners on our next visit, they made the whole experience very easy. Thank you.

This is a great apartment in a fantastic location, with a very friendly and helpful owner. My friend and I stayed there for a week. It was really nice to be an apartment rather than a hotel room and we felt very much at home. I highly recommend staying there.

My friend and I stayed here. It's a great apartment - clean, tidy, two double rooms, lounge area. And it's a great location on the border of the East Village and Lower East Side with great coffee shops and restaurants nearby. Also very near the subway station. Thanks so much Georgine for a wonderful stay. I highly recommend this apartment.

We stayed in this beautiful apartment for 2 nights in December. The owner was so helpful and accommodating, he really made arriving into NYC so welcoming. The apartment was very clean and spacious and was well equipped with everything we needed. It's in a perfect location, very close to the subway and in a great area. We felt safe the entire time we were there. We will definitely stay here again if we return to NYC and highly recommend this property.
