The Knotty Pine Cabin was a perfect getaway for a week's retreat at my favorite north Oregon coast town, Oceanside. From the warmth of the pine wood to the beautiful fireplace with insert that kicked out the heat on those rainy days, this cabin was fantastic. Yes, and cozy, in that it had everything to make it feel like a well-loved home: overstuffed chairs, couch, great Tv's, movies, puzzles, games, super comfortable master bed (I didn't try out the others), lots of blankets, towels, and the ki

This cabin is cozy in the summer or winter months. Great views. Access to foothills and beach out of the front door. Very quiet neighborhood. I am so happy to be able to stay in such a great place with my dogs. Nothing fancy about the cabin but it is a jewel if clean and comfortable is good for you. Beds are good!
Owner response:Hi Joan, I am glad you enjoyed yourselves. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Feel free to come back any time. regards, Rory

We had a wonderful time. The cabin was comfortable, well stocked, user freindly with Wi-Fi and phone service and overall very enjoyable. Compared to many other locations we have stayed , the bed was far superior! We can understand why the cabin is so special.

We had a wonderful time at your cabin. It was so cozy, and we loved the view, and the beach (we practically had the beach to ourselves!), and Oceanside itself. I was born and raised in Carmel, CA, and the beach and Oceanside reminded me a lot of Carmel and the Monterey Peninsula. We really enjoyed the Sound of Music DVD! In addition to the musical itself, there was all that great documentary stuff about the making of the movie, and the real von Trapps. Wow! We loved your cabin and we’d like to come back. Maybe next time in warmer weather, so we can enjoy the deck and the treehouse, and at a time of year when there are more daylight hours. Thanks so much for your hospitality.

Hi Rory, We had a wonderful stay at your cabin. This is the last year for my son at Lewis and Clark, so I figures this might be the last chance for us to visit Portland if he moves. He picked your place after researching on the web. It turned out to be the best choice for our family to spend some quality time together. We felt like staying at a friend's place, and we are especially appreciate your fully equipped kitchen, which made possible for my children to cook the Thanksgiving meal from scratch. You have given a very clear and detailed instructions and everything worked as they were supposed to. My children also enjoyed your DVD collection (on which my daughter left some ridiculous comments on your guest book). We also were very impressed with your tree-house and swing sets, and the beautiful beach. One other thing I particular like about this place is its very low commercialism comparing to other tourist places. I hope Oceanside stays this way for as long as possible. Thanks again for letting us stay at your home. Yi

I had such a good time. We (dogs and I) arrived Sunday late afternoon in a downpour and had a cozy fire while cooking up a pot of soup. Monday and Tuesday were just beautiful. We walked up and down the streets of Oceanside and on the beach. Dogs had so much fun. I was sorry that I had to leave the great weather and return to work but did feel rejuvenated once home. I loved your place Rory!! It is so beautiful and comfortable and the kitchen was nicely supplied. Thanks so much. I will definitely look for a time to return this winter and next summer. Oceanside has such a good vibe.

Yes, there's internet. There's unlimited local and long distance phone (no cell phone reception). There's cable TV. But who needs it? With the front porch, the view from the living room, a "tree house" view, a wonderfully comfortable bed in a quiet area with a wonderful beach (make sure you walk through the rock, especially at low tide), three restaurants, and no traffic lights ... it was an ideal get-a-way. The house has a well-stocked kitchen, firewood for the fireplace, wetsuites, etc. For two of us, it was perfect. The two extra bedrooms are small, but who needs bedroom space with all this? The owners were great to work with ... very helpful and accomodating. Another pro: delicious water. Con: light switches: Find them in the daylight, and you'll be fine lol

This is a wonderful little place with a fabulous ocean view, great deck with comfortable chairs & table. The living room has great windows on 2 walls granting an expansive view. Perfect for relaxing on the sofa & watching the waves. If your brave enough to put on one of the 20 some wet suits available including a dozen boggie boards, your all setup to try your hand at riding a wave. The corner lot offers some privacy other locations do not provide. The two adult beds are very comfortable and the built-in bunk style beds would be perfect if I was willing to bring the kids and ruin a perfectly quiet & relaxing visit for the two of us. (-; The kitchen is more then adequate for cooking meals and provided all the utensils necessary.

We had such a wonderful time! Your cabin reminds me so much of a cabin that my grandparents owned south of Cannon Beach when I was a child. It felt like home to us, we so appreciate you opening it to guests. I cannot express enough how lovely it was to have outdoor play space for my kids - so hard to find in Oceanside. Sending then OUT! to play was such a joy. We all had a great time in the wet suits, even me and that is saying something, as I haven't played in the ocean for many years. We will be back, if you will have us.

We had a really wonderful time at the cabin...it was cozy and clean, and had everything we needed for family fun! Our sons LOVED the beach, built castles with your beach toys, tried a little boogie boarding, and we used the Burley to haul wood down to the beach for a fire and smores! My mom did a lot of reading on the porch, which is her favorite thing to do...we brought groceries and cooked every meal, and even grilled one night! I appreciate the gas grill, it was nice not to have to fuss with coals on vacation. The beds were comfy, the linens were nice, overall we just loved the house and Oceanside in general, we are already talking about coming back to this cabin next summer! Thank you so much for providing the space for a really special weekend for my family.

"Cozy Beach Weekend" The Knotty Pine was the perfect place for a cozy winter beach weekend. We really enjoyed the fireplace and all of the wood that Rory provided. The house had absolutely everything we needed and we were able to cook two great meals in the fully stocked kitchen. We had a wonderful time and hope to be back soon! No complaints from us!

A most pleasant, well appointed and comfortable little home." Thanks so much for sharing such a wonderful little place! The view was fabulous and the boys got a huge kick out of the wetsuits and wake boards! The fact that staples were provided in the kitchen was a wonderful surprise, as were the toilet paper, soap and washer and dryer. We enjoyed the deck and the treehouse and especially the fireplace.

I want to thank you for sharing your wonderful cottage with us this past weekend. We had a GREAT time! Your hospitality "in absentia" couldn't have been more thoughtful. We read the orientation book that you left cover-to-cover and your suggestions met our every need. What a beautiful setting! And falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean as well as enjoying the storms was lovely. Four of us wanted to read a lot this weekend too, and the weather made our dream come true. A fifth wanted to hike through the tunnel which we were able to do. And the sixth wanted to build a sand castle, which we'll have to do another time. All in all it was a terrific weekend! Many thanks to you for making your cottage available to us! Tory

A perfect retreat" I found this to be a perfect retreat for me. The house was lovely, fully stocked and very clean. The wonderful plank paneling on the walls and ceilings, in addition to the fireplace and ocean views made it feel very homey. It was just a short walk to the beach, where you can explore the coast for miles. I even tried some boogie boarding (fun!) while the more adventurous surfed. Unlike many coastal towns, Oceanside isn't overrun by traffic because there's no through highway. That makes it nice and slow-paced and quiet. Even so, there's an excellent restaurant ("Roseanna's") plus a handy coffee shop (which also makes a fine chowder) and a bar. Everything I needed, and the tree house in the side yard turned out to be a perfect place to just sit and watch the sea.

Our stay at Knotty Pine was without question the best vacation our family has had. We loved the view from the tree deck and the wetsuits allowed us to play in the ocean almost every day. Our three kids (13, 11, and 6) started planning our return before our week was over. Campfires on the beach and boogie boarding were definitely the highlights of the trip for us. We absolutely recommend this property. The owner was very accomodating, the description was accurate, the documentation provided explained everything we needed to know. Roseanna's has great desserts and we absolutely loved Brewin in the Wind for coffee and breakfast treats.
Owner response:Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. I am very glad to hear it was so enjoyable. Kind regards, Rory

We had the best time at the Knotty Pine Cabin - super flexible and easy to work with owners! We found the cabin to be very cozy and very well stocked from kitchen stuff, luxurious bedding, hundreds of dvd's, games and toys! An easy walk to the beach with the generous use of the Burley trailer, sand toys and wetsuits - what a blast and an experience for all to try and surf the waves on the provided boogie boards! The treehouse topped it all off for our three boys - we are now being asked to build one at home! The views were amazing - thanks for sharing your home!

This cabin is heaven. Love Oceanside - it's small and quiet. Love that the cabin is well taken care of...fireplace burns great, knives are sharpened, everything is clean and well-maintained. Wetsuits for playing in the waves a huge bonus. We always enjoy every minute of our stays at this cabin, and can't wait to come back.

Once again, the tranquility and peace at Knotty Pine swept us away. Our kids loved Rory's Tree House. Kristie enjoyed boogie boarding with our 8 year old and I enjoyed the addition of the televisions. Nothing beats a crackling fire while the wind and waves whisper in the background. We will be back, hopefully soon!

We really enjoyed our stay. We wished it was longer. We loved the fireplace with wood provided, the great movie selection and the cozy kitchen being fully stocked. My mom slept in the master room and commented they were the best nights of sleep she'd had in ages. The cabin is perfect for an intimate time with people you love. It felt like home. (My mom used to live in a cabin about that size on the water on Bainbridge Island). I wish I could live there for three months! I will definitely recommend the knotty pine to friends and don't be surprised if we rent it again! Thanks for sharing your space.

Fantastic Get Away Experience, A very cozy, warm, inviting cabin. Reading by the fireplace was totally relaxing when mixed in with walks on the beach. Incredibly well equipped; like never leaving home. Watching the sunset over the ocean from the treehouse was ultra cool! We'll certainly come back. Perfect town and place, if you just really want to unwind & relax.

Ladies Weekend, October 27, 2009 I went with 5 of my closest friends to hide away at knotty pine cabin. The space was warm and relaxing; cozy, but spacious enough for 6 women. We loved the wood stove and the comfortable living area with a view of the sea. We found the kitchen very well stocked, the beds comfy and warm. The back deck is great for eating outside from the grill. The pine walls have beautiful character. We will definitely be back!

Pearl in Oceanside, October 17, 2009 By Candace (Estes Park, CO) We just returned from a relaxing week at the Knotty Pine Cabin, located just minutes from the beach. This pearl, nestled into the hill of Oceanside, offered a beautiful view of the ocean, a homey atmosphere, fabulous beds, a well appointed kitchen, welcoming fireplace, movies, books, games...and the perfect treehouse for spying whales or boat and bird watching. The beautiful deck, with picnic table and Adirondack chairs, offers a great space to enjoy the great view, salty air and the quaint neighborhood. We brought home some fabulous sunset pictures!

We had a fabulous time at the Knotty Pine Cabin. The weather was gorgeous and we spent most of our time at the beach, but the cabin was cozy and comfortable. I imagine it is a great place to stay on stormy winter nights. My son really enjoyed all of the toys, and we appreciated the well-stocked kitchen, as we prepared all of our meals there. I've been back to the "rat race" for 3 wks.now and have nearly forgotten my heavenly 5 days at "knotty pine"! I must say that I expected a bit roomier space(even tho I read the dimensions beforehand)but it took only moments to"personalize"the small but cozy cabin and Heaven it was!!! My comments must emphasize how warm and helpful the owners are. It surely makes a difference to me that I am treated well! Can't say enough about the deck...that's where we spent MOST of our time. Thank-you Rory and Lisa, for your hospitality and the gentle roar of ocean waves. One suggestion(for safety)perhaps a rubber mat for the shower. My group found it a bit slippery in there.
Owner response:I'm glad you had a great time. Thanks for your suggestion. We have added rubber mats. Regards, Rory and Lisa

Girls Getaway By marybeth (Port Orchard, WA USA) We were looking for a nice quiet place by the beach and Knotty Pine was the perfect choice. Everything we needed was there including wood for the fireplace. The view was fantastic and the beds were comfortable and big. Oceanside is a quiet "town" but we weren't looking for any of the usually tourist attractions. There was plenty to do even when it rained. The cabin had games, TV, movies and books. Well equipted kitchen and even a tree house to take in the sunset. They even welcomed our little dog who is part of the family as well.

Oceanside is a such a lovely beach to visit and the Knotty Pine beach house was a perfect retreat for my husband and I. We really enjoyed soaking up a few rays of sun and the view of the ocean from the living room and deck. The kitchen was fully equipped with spices, recipe books, and serving ware - we just loved the red dining room table. From the moment you walk through the doors you realize that you are in a special place. In a short time you can feel the cares of the world just drift away as you relax in front of the fireplace and watch the waves from the comfort of a big overstuffed chair. We really enjoyed how quaint, yet how comfortably appointed the cabin is. It really has the feeling of the old Oregon Coast but with all the modern amenities. A real gem and a real find.
