My husband and I were looking for a peaceful weekend getway, and Nana's Cottage was the perfect place for us to do just that. We loved the beautiful and secluded surroundings. We spent a good amount of time setting on the screened in porch or on the chairs by the river just listening to the sounds of the river and nature. Not only was the location beautiful, but the cabin was well maintained and very clean. It was also decorated in a way that made us feel cozy and at home. The hot tub was an added plus. We did not use the firepit in the yard or the kayaks and tubes on this trip, but we plan to book a family stay for us and our teenagers this summer, and I'm sure they will also enjoy everything Nana's Cottage has to offer. We look forward to returning!

My husband and I found Nana's Cottage to be very charming, homey and clean. We loved the fact that our little schnauzer, Izzy, was welcomed also. We enjoyed the cool weather and was able to build a fire at night and during the day we hiked around the property and enjoyed the beautiful colors of fall and also saw plenty of deer and turkeys. A very peaceful and relaxing weekend. I would highly recommend this property to anyone seeking to get away.

Several of us chose Nana's for our Fall Break Weekend. The property is exactly as advertised. Everything is clean, neat, and convenient. The kitchen is well-stocked, and the appliances are up-to-date. The beds with their feather mattress pads provide the best sleep I've had in a really long time! The cottage is secluded and lends to peaceful moments by the firepit, or sitting by the river, or reading on the screened porch. The hot tub works wonders on stressed out muscles and brains! The cottage is also convenient to Helen and Cleveland. The owners were pleasant and professional and love the area. We will definitely return and would highly recommend this property.

We were looking for a cabin on the river and that is exactly what we got. The kids loved the hot tub and sleeping up stairs. We loved the convenience of being able to use their tubes and tube down the river from our cabin to the Owners house where we played in the water. Loved sitting on the screened-in porch and drink coffee in the mornings watching the river. The kids had a great time fishing in front of the owners property and one of the kids actually caught a fish. The owners were very accomodating and wanted to make sure we had a great experience. All the information about the area as to grocery stores, closest town were all provided which helped so much. Will definitely return and highly recommend to others.

My family decided to do something new this year. We live in Charlotte NC and we decided to go to Nana's Cottage because it had everything we were looking for. Our girls, who are 11 and 12, were able to kayak, rope swing, swim, tube, fish and rock hunt. We all had a blast. And one of my daughters is very girly and loved it. My husband and I did all the activities as well. Nana's cottage is very private, quiet and peaceful and very CLEAN. It was great to be on the river for the day and come back to a wonderful clean hot tub to soak in. Nancy and Robert were extremely nice and helpful and offered excellent service to us. There were plenty of linens, so don't bring any! Having the washer and dryer on site helped tremendously. I normally don't complete reviews, but was so impressed with this rental I felt Nana's deserved it. I do highly recommend this rental. I have no interest in going back to the beach and plan on going back to Nana's next summer. It was truly the best family vacation ever. I have to say that all four of us jumping off the rope swing was the most exciting fun adventure that pumped our hearts to the fullest. We were all so proud that we had the nerve to do it. And so glad afterwards we were still alive. It is a must do!!! It was a great family bond building moment! You can't go wrong at Nana's! It is an escape from the hectic city life.
Owner response:Kimberly, Thank you for the wonderful review.. we have lived up here for over 16 years and still love the river and our area..we never tire of it. Look forward to seeing you again next summer, Nancy and Rob

We do an annual Mother/Daughter trip and have stayed as several VRBO rentals. This home was the BEST yet!!! We are already talking about a return visit next year and several of my sisters want to rent for vacations with their families. The home was well layed out with plenty of room for privacy as well as room for building family memories. The back porch with it's hot tub, rockers and dining table was our favorite spot for relaxing and catching up with each others lives. The hot tub at night with all the "night life sounds" was awesome. The beds were sooo comfy and the kitchen well stocked. We brought our own crock pot so we could have lunch ready after playing in the river. The sisters (all in their 50's) tubed the 4 hr run and that is an experience that will never be forgotten. All survived except for a lost pair of sunglasses. LOL Close enough to Helen to do all the touristy stuff. Would recommend to anyone looking for a mountain get away. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Mary

My family had a wonderful stay at Nana's Cottage in July of 2011! The cabin was fantastic and was situated on a beautiful site right on the river. The screened porch faces the river and was wonderful to have coffee on in the morning. We hope to be able to return to Nana's in the future!

Nana's cottage was amazing!! It is secluded and right on the river with wonderful views!!. Nancy provided everything and I mean everything our family needed. She and her husband were so welcoming and being just down the road were available at just a phone call. It was the cleanest and most beautiful place I have ever stayed. The pics don't do it justice. The fishing just steps away from the porch was fun for the guys. The tubing was so private and secluded (no crowds or other people at all). Kayaking was an adventure. The property was great for hiking (we saw lots of wildlife). There are a few private sitting areas outside with a hammock on the river. It was oh so relaxing and quiet! We also took a day to visit Helen and hiked to Anna Ruby falls and Dukes Creek falls which were unbelievable. There is an outlet mall about 40 min away for the ladies! I would highly recommend this cottage for anyone! Oh yeah, the beds were sooooo comfortable. We miss that already!

Nana's cottage is a true gem. The decor is very inviting and clever! The property is stunning, with a nice amount of solitude. A favorite spot was in the jacuzzi in the evenings listing to the "hooch" flow below. I must say, i think the dog had the most fun running a-muck smelling all there was to smell! We enjoyed the fishing as well - and have the picture of the slob of trout caught on a fly rod right behind Nana's to prove it! A great spot with very hospitable hosts! We have alreadt recomended Nana's to all of our friends and are planning our return in the warmer months to try out the rope swings!

There are so many complimentary reviews of Nana's Cottage...there is hardly anything to add. It was everything we had hoped for and more. Nancy and Robert are excellent hosts, friendly and helpful...they have the knack of balancing "being there" with allowing one full privacy. The cottage boasts a "good housekeeping seal of approval" and is absolutely well maintained. It gives one the enjoyment of solitude in the gorgeous Geogia mountains, yet not too far removed from the necessities of life...no "death stairs" to the river. We were 2 retirees, joined by our daughter, her husband and two children (8 & 10)...plenty of room for all. We also enjoyed Helen and felt quite smug, while watching the tubing there, that we had our own private tube run, complete with tubes for our use. Not to mention the kayaks...the kids found a new outdoor adventure, after a little instruction from Grandpa and Dad. Since the river was a little chilly and the weather was rainy occasionally, the hot tub was sensatinal. Can only imagine how wonderful the cottge would be in the winter months...so cozy. We surely hope that we can experience that sometime soon. All in all, beautiful scenery, charming cottage, gentle adventure, time with family...priceless!!

Enjoyed sitting on porch rocking and listening to the water and tubing/kayaking down the river. Owners are very accomodating. I would highly recommend it; we'll be back!

We had a wonderful trip to GA and really enjoyed the cabin. The accomodations are very comfortable and the river is gorgeous. Our family ranges from 4 to 65 and we all enjoyed tubing and kyaking, sitting on the screened porch, and hot tubbing. We plan to return to this location and this cabin in particular.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to get to spend a few days at Nana's Cottage. It is beautiful, clean, and has everything needed for a wonderful river/mountain getaway. Sitting on the porch listening to the peaceful sounds of the river was very relaxing. Loved the convenience of the accessibility of the kayaks (our favorite mode of transportation down the river!). We would recommend this rental to anyone looking for fun on the river, hiking, privacy, the beauty of nature, and just plain relaxing. If you should want to go, there are tourist mountain destinations nearby, but we didn't want to leave the cottage. Nancy, the owner, is available if you need her; she's very accommodating. WE LOVED EVERYTHING.

Nancy, the week was great for us in every way. We've stayed in a number of places during our 50 years of marriage, but have never found more complete attention paid to amenities and comfort of guests. We found the tranquility almost spiritual, and yet, there there were numerous opportunities for side trip adventure to places like Tallulah Gorge, Helen, Baby Land, Lake Burton, etc. The deer and pileated woodpeckers put on quite a show at the cottage. Also enjoyed the tubing and fishing. Hope to return one day soon.

Nana's Cottage was awesome! It has such a "homey" atmosphere. We loved just sitting in the rocking chairs and relaxing on the screened in porch, listening to the sounds of nature. Nothing could be more relaxing or romantic than the hot tub with the view of the river. Nancy thought of everthing you could possibly need, towels, hair dryer, candles, etc. We loved the feather beds. I could go on and on. Everything was so clean, it was perfect. I highly recommend staying at Nana's.

We stayed at Nana's cottage for 4 days and 3 nights. What a great time our family had. Everything exceeded our expectations. Here are some of the things we really liked. The privacy and seclusion. The screened porch and Hot Tub!!! Tubing on the river. The fire pit. The wildlife, we saw a lot of deer. We were close enough to Helen to enjoy it but far enough away to enjoy the privacy. We intend to return next year and am happy to recommend "Nana's cottage" to everyone. Steve, Ann, Stevie & Annemarie

Look no further, you have found the PERFECT place to spend your vacation! Nana's Cottage is by far the best place we have stayed since we started vacationing in Helen, GA almost 4 years ago. We won't go anywhere else now! We loved the privacy and seclusion of the location yet it is still close enough to visit all the attractions of Helen and Cleveland. We loved sitting on the deck listening to the river below us and looking at all the gorgeous scenery. Such a welcome escape from the busy city life we are used to! The kids had a blast playing in the river, exploring, finding "critters", tubing, and hanging out in the hot tub! The cabin has a comfortable rustic decor that fits right in with the surroundings. Nancy is a pleasure to know and goes out of her way to accommodate...she has thought of EVERYTHING you might need during your stay there. Beach towels, hair dryer, games, books, air pump, life jackets, fan, extra pillows, bug spray, toiletries, you name it, it's probably already there! We can't wait to go back again.
Owner response:Thaank you so much, we try to make your stay as comfortable as we can! Nancy

By: Mary Li Creasy This property is fabulous! The location is very private yet close to all the N. Ga. mountain attractions. We loved seeing the deer and wild turkeys on the property, tubing on the river, the hot tub, panning for gold, fising and hiking Brass Town Bald, Unicoi and Anna Ruby Falls. The cottage itself couldn''t be lovelier and the owner thought of everything. A real home away from home retreat. We are looking forward to returning in the fall! Service: 5 Value: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Overall: 5 By: Frank Castillo As an outdoors enthusiast, I love to hike, moutain bike and such. Living in Florida, without mountains is not as exciting as with them. After many years of staying at "adequate" cabins in Georgia and North Carolina, I FINALLY found one that is close to home that felt like home, but yet gave that "vacation-get-a-way from it all" feeling. Speaking with Nancy on the phone made me feel like I made the right choice, and after driving up through the woods and making that turn - seeing the house upon the hill was jaw dropping, tongue swaying, eyes bugging GORGEOUS! Upon entering the house, seeing the immaculant wood flooring, clean like new kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms (upstairs and downstairs), the awesome fireplace, and the spectacular view of the river from the screened in porch with the Hot Tub - I was in heaven. With Helen only a few easy to drive miles away, we had everything near us to do. My girlfriend Theresa and I even easily drove to Charlotte (about 2 1/2 hours) for a football game. The cabin in within an easy drive of MANY MANY hiking trails (it was winter so no white water rafting)but shopping in Helen and Dehalanega. Nancy was an awesome host - thanks for the SpiderMan video - she was there when we needed her, and out of sight when we didn''t. My friends and I HIGHLY reccommend Nanna''s Cabin. Definately Gold Star Service. Service: 5 Value: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Overall: 5

By: Kirk and Leticia Hall We have rented a "cabin" several times before in Helen, but this was by far the most memorable. At last, we found a place that captured the "feel and atmosphere" of the mountains. The cottage was so charming and we loved the feather down beds! We enjoyed the hot tub while being able to view the river. We went canoing, fishing and cuddled by the fireplace at night. This place offered something for the kids and the adults. We did not want to leave! I recommend this to anyone who enjoys privacy, nature and spending quality time with their loved ones. What an experience! Nancy could not have been more accomodating. We will definitely be back, and so will our friends and family! Service: 5 Value: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Overall: 5

This cabin is the most beautiful and peaceful place we have ever been. The minute you step in the door you are in another world. The cottage itself is decorated with nothing but comfort in mind. The setting is magnificent. The sights and sounds are absolutely heavenly!! We have decided that this is 'our' place from now on!!!
