We rented the property from 12/22/2010 until 12/30/2010. The facitity and its location was great. The listing description was on the mark for its description of location, layout and amenities. The property was clean and very well maintained and the provision of amenities was excellent. We really enjoyed the beach although it was a bit too cool for swimming. The restaurants we visited in Gulf Shores and Fort Morgan -- King Neptune and Tacky Jack's -- had excellent seafood and the staffs were very friendly. Overall it was a super visit and I would highly recommend it to friends and relatives!

What a fantastic week. We have vacationed in Ft. Morgan many times but I must say that this was one of our BEST trips. We stayed at Shipwatch North from 6/5 - 6/12. We were really nervous due to the oil spill situation but decided to go anyway. The house was absolutely FANTASTIC. The entire first level is a porch and was great for family dinners and late night drinks. We had 13 people off and on during our stay and everyone loved the house. The water was beautiful and the beaches were white. We went swimming every single day. The beds were really comfortable. We've had bad experiences before at houses we had rented at Ft. Morgan in that the beds were horrible and no one slept much. Not the case with Shipwatch North. The kitchen is well stocked and I found that I had brought many of the things that were already at the house for us to use. Don't let the pictures fool you... this house is RIGHT ON the beach. Yes, there is another house in front of you but you have full unobstructed beach views all over the place. The beach is only a few steps away and actually there were "front row" houses in the same area that were farther away from the water edge than Shipwatch North. Everything was clean and the owner was a pleasure to work with. We will absolutely be coming back to Ft. Morgan next year and plan on staying again at Shipwatch North. If you have a large group, this house is TOPS.

We had a great time. Coming from the north, we were treated to a beautiful beach! Our stay was for a month; mid-Feb to mid-March. The weather was not great, but we couldn't change that! It was a cold year from California to southern Florida and up the eastern coast. So, I'd rather have been on the windy beach than shoveling the snow! There is history, restaurants (too numerous to mention, but "local" and "tourist"), waterparks, mini-golf, Ft. Morgan, the ferry to Dauphin Island (Sea Lab), the zoo is fabulous for little ones, LuLu's restaurant was very toddler friendly!, shopping, so much more; something for everyone! On arrival, it was a little disappointing to have the house directly in front of us, BUT, you do get used to looking out the windows in either direction; and the views are amazing! We watched the "rigs," waves, and the dolphins playing just for us! The fish market down the street has fabulous, fresh fish - each and every time we bought there. We also liked Fish Bait at the Wharf; the nachos are out of this world! The pictures of the storms in MikeE's are interesting, Pink Pony Pub makes a stiff drink! and Kiva Dunes is a treasure so close to the house. The house itself was well-equipped. The "closed" porch was a blessing when we had a 2-yr old visiting! He could run back and forth without the worry of stairs. Again, we were not able to take advantage of the hammock, the windows open, picnics on the porch, etc. due to the weather. We did set up the folding table in the DR/KIT area and had a shrimp boil inside! Everyone who visited us enjoyed the house, the views, the beach and the area as much as we did! There's a LOT of beach; not far from the house, the houses stop and it's just beach to Ft. Morgan. All-in-all a great vacation.

Outstanding week at the beach. My family was so impressed with the accomodations and location. The house was so comfortable for all of us and a stone's throw away from the water. Again, thanks.

We stayed in Shipwatch North the first week of July, and we loved it! It was actually our second time to stay there, and we could very well return again. We had a group of 3 families (6 adults, 6 kiddos) plus an additional adult. We were definitely not cramped. We spread the adults (and one of the younger kids) among 4 of the bedrooms, and let 5 of the kids sleep in the room with the bunk beds, using the upstairs rollaway bed that easily fit into the bunk room. There was plenty of space for all. The house is in excellent condition. Hardwood floors all around, and plenty of furniture for everyone. There is a normal-sized dining table, plus a large folding table you can pull out for the whole crowd. The downstairs deck's value cannot be overemphasized. We had a blowup pool that we put down there for the younger kids, out of the sun (under the house!) and free from jellies on those bad days. The biggest selling point of the house, though, is by far the location!!! There is a single house between it and the beach. It's literally about a 30 or 40 yard walk to the beach, at most. No hauling stuff back and forth! You can leave your stuff on the beach.... at Fort Morgan, we have never had any trouble with anyone messing with our stuff. It's truly a fantastic place for families that like a little room. Oh, and Tacky Jack's 2 is about a mile away.... great food. I highly recommend this property.... just don't steal our week away the next time we are planning a trip!

Shipwatch North was the ideal site for my retirement beach party that lasted for a month. There was plenty of room for me to share my time between my family AND my friends. At one time, we had eleven people there with room to spare. The mattresses are some of the most comfortable and everyone slept like babies while there. Every bedroom has either a sliding door or window facing the gulf, so you could lulled to sleep by the sounds of the surf. The location was even more amazing than I could have imagined. From the time you stepped out of your vehicle, your feet are in the sand. It is literally only about 100 steps from the deck stairs to the water's edge...it just doesn't get any better than that in my book. There is a very hypnotizing hammock on the deck that will rock you to sleep for a leisurely nap. The property was clean and comfortable. Not only did Tony call to check on us to make sure that things were OK, the maintenance guy came by a couple of times to make certain there was nothing that needed attention during our stay. We were able to set up a canopy tent and leave it on the beach for the entire time. It was like having our own beach cabana. The weather was absolutely perfect from mid-April to mid-May. We might have had 6 hours of rain the entire time we were there. It was great to sit out there and watch the dolphins swimming by almost every day. There were also lots of shrimp boats, and freighters taking things out to the oil rigs. Interesting to watch! Fort Morgan is only a couple of miles away, and although I did not personally walk through it, the option is there for a history lesson. Tacky Jack's 2 is only about 1/2 mile down the road and the food is decent but a lovely view for sunset. We also enjoyed the food and atmosphere at Lulu's, good food at Bahama Bob's on West Beach Blvd., and great food and atmosphere at Cosmo's in Orange Beach. The Pines grocery store is very convenient and well stocked and only a few miles from the house. Blalock's is good for great fresh seafood and they will pack it to travel, if you like. Also try the great smoked tuna dip with cocktails on the deck! The Wharf also has some good restaurants and fun shopping. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone that wants away from it all. It is a very relaxing location where time seems to pass in slow motion---and that's a great thing for vacation!

This was a wonderful house for our family. Great views from every room. The beach was quiet, beautiful, and our family had lots of adventures. The owner was great to work with. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.

My family spent a long weekend here and had a great time watching ships, going to the beach, and enjoying the views from the house. The comforts of the house are top rate and the beds sleep great. The kids were entertained by the game systems and the beach. We all hope to return here soon, We loved this place.

My family stayed at this house in October of 2007. The house is absolutely beautiful and even though it is not directly on the beach the views are perfect. The location is great-more secluded than staying in Gulf Shores. The house is well maintained and very clean.

Our family stayed in this super clean, well maintained beach house for a week this past September and we can't wait to go back. It was perfect for watching the sunrise, sunsets and the dolphins frolicking in the ocean. Great fun for the kids with the ocean so close. As golfers, we enjoyed several very nice courses nearby. It was just far enough away from town to enjoy the quiet and serene location, but close enough to head there for dinner or shopping. This was a wonderful vacation spot.
