Accurately described, very well kept and updated destination for those desiring an upscale mountain experience just a few minutes stroll from downtown Blowing Rock. Our family (adults and children 8-18) has owned property in the area, and stayed at a variety of accomodations including Chetola. This is as good as it gets for location and interior accomodations. This particular property has a special niche and would be highly recommended for those seeking a first class, home-like atmosphere.

This home really does give the mountain traveller the best of both worlds...you drive up and say rustic and homey, yet walk through the door and find your "rustic" experience includes a remote contol gas fireplace, large HDTV, and luxurious sheets. Then while sitting on the back deck you feel as if you are a million miles away from it all, yet downtown Blowing Rock is a short walk down the path. We came to see the Fall color and were not disappointed - lots of nice, scenic 30 minute drives on back roads or the Parkway, but we made sure we were on the back deck in time for the sunsets over Grandfather Mountain. Plenty of great places to eat, but we also had marinated steaks on the gas grill Saturday night while not missing any college football games(nice sports package). The Sessoms have outfitted this old gem with very nice and comfortable furniture. Needless to say, yes, I would recommend this vacation rental to a friend and yes, the home was very clean and as advertised and yes, the owners were extremely kind and helpful. I would stay at this lovely home again next weekend if I could!

I rented this property for my mom and I for our first trip to Blowing Rock. This home is truly special. I rent a lot through VRBO, and this home is exceptionally well-maintained and completely stocked. I had originally planned to stay at WestGlow but they were booked- am so glad we ended up where we did! The stone fireplace is incredible and we spent hours sitting on the back deck enjoying the incredible view and just relaxing. We are already planning our next trip back to Blowing Rock in the fall and will definitely be renting this house for years to come! -Melodie, Cary NC

Amazing! This house has it all. Rustic mountain home full of pampering amenities. We went in search of a relaxing yet adventureous getaway and could not have been more pleased. Blankets and magazines by the fire, scenic back porch views, plush bath towels and warm cozy beds and sssh a high definition big screen tv, wireless internet and a fully stocked kitchen. You feel like you are away from the world, but with a few steps you are in the middle of Blowing Rock on Main Steet. We spent time hiking along the Blue Ridge Parkway, visited the Cone House, rented a canoe, and went horseback riding. The location is perfect! We will certainly be back!

This rustic home is a real charmer! We rent homes often, and this cottage is right at the top.Nostalgic and comfortable, you instantly relax the second to enter this cottage. The outdoor decks are well furnished, along with beautiful view of Grandfather Mountain. Our favorite part of the home is the family room and the Hugh gas fireplace. Cozy up with a book and a glass of wine. Perfect!!! Easy walk to the great shops and restaurants in this quaint town. Pam is a dream to work with, always helpful. Great rental! You won't be disappointed!

Just returned home from a week at this wonderful cottage. I can't say enough good things about the cottage and the owners. Pam is so easy to work with and so accommodating. The cottage is very clean and very comforable, the gas fireplace is wonderful. We will go back, hopefully much sooner than later. We love the little town of Blowing Rock and its a very easy walk from the cottage. Restaurants and shopping is the best (not your typical tourist traps). Easy to take day trips to other great areas also, Banner Elk, Boone, Grandfather Mountain and Valle Crucis (the Mast General Store is a must see). Almost forgot to mention the view, couldn't get much better. Max & Vickie

If you dream of living in the quaint little mountain village of Blowing Rock as I do, then this wonderfully restored family home is the perfect place for you. I dare you to find a better location. It is on Main Street, a short stroll to all the shops and restaurants on the well lit trail. I also dare you to find a better view. Grandfather Mountain is in your direct sight from the back deck which is wonderfully furnished for your relaxation. At night, enjoy the fireplace, or snuggle up in one of the cozy bedrooms. The decor gives you something charming to see at every turn. Pam is a gracious hostess and will see that your stay meets or exceeds your expectation.

Really enjoyed the weekend. House was great, especially liked the furnishings and fire-place. The closeness to downtown Blowing Rock is a definite plus, can comfortably walk, especially on busy weekends. Will rent again.

Great location - directly across the street from path on Main Street. Less than 1/2 mile to shops, restaurants, parks of Blowing Rock. Wonderful for those of us who like to jog, walk to dinner, etc. Very charming home, well decorated and maintained. Nice view, but not long distance, off two back decks. A lot of privacy considering nearly in town location. Steps to lower level bedroom may limit the accessibility for elderly or disabled.
Owner response:We love getting this strong review! If you are a potential guest, you may be wondering about the view and the stairs. On the VRBO website we have several pictures of the view off the back deck- with leaves, without leaves, in the snow, at sunset. Not "long range"- but not bad! Also you may be wondering about the stairs. Please note that four out of our last five guests recommend this house for travelers over 55. If our future guests do not have trouble with stairs in general, then they should not have trouble with our stairs. The steps are fully carpeted, there is a handrail and there are lights at both the top and the bottom of the stairs. Just in case you were wondering!

Thrilled we chose this cottage for our family reunion weekend and highly recommend this rental. Cottage is beautifully decorated in an updated mountain cabin style with lovely antiques, leather furniture, prints, high quality linens, thick towels. Our favorite part was sitting on the outdoor covered deck in comfortable porch chairs overlooking a grove of trees. It is a very private feeling on the deck - like you are in a treehouse - such a peaceful, beautiful setting - perfect spot for our daily breakfast and happy hours. Other nice feature is an easy walking path from the house to the village of Blowing Rock - about a 5 minute walk - very convenient and reduced the need to drive. The village of Blowing Rock is so quaint - it reminds you of a town from yesteryear - a place to meander - friendly townspeople, beautiful flower gardens, parks, local shops & restaurants - ideal neighborhoods for walking and jogging and within an easy drive to hiking trails and other natural destinations. Recommend Blowing Rock Visitors Center for maps and advice about area activities. Art in the Park event held a few times in the summer - beautiful arts and crafts of all kinds. Hiked Linville Falls which has hiking trails for all ages. Visited Moses Cone Manor House - more hiking opportunities there. So many good restaurants in the Blowing Rock/Boone/Banner Elk area - enjoyed lunch at Kojay's Eatery on Main Street - excellent food. Delicious Southern style breakfast at Knights on Main - worth the wait! Heard good things about Twigs - a new upscale restaurant - but did not have a chance to try it. Looking forward to returning to this cottage on a future get-away trip and have already recommended it to several friends.

This mountain home is sheer perfection. Located a gentle walking distance to the town of Blowing Rock from the front door and yet transforming into a tree house overlooking the mountains from the back porch, it is the best of two worlds And what conjoins those two worlds is a most thoughtfully and elegantly appointed mountain home that makes you feel as if you had personally placed every treasures yourself. The stone, the wood, the books, the view, the art, the needlework heirlooms, the carefully placed throws----every detail makes you feel at home. And when we ventured forth, the Blue Ridge Parkway gave us all of the trails and adventures we could have asked for hiking or riding. Julian Price Lake for rowing or canoeing. Blowing Rock was meant for sauntering--flowers, antiques and artwork abound. And the food was quite simply succulent. Here were some of our favorite discoveries--Roca's Bistro/Antlers for returning old timers and a must-see for dog lovers; The Market for quick wine and delicacies on the run and a deli for all sandwiches required for picnics---I had to visit here at least once a day. For the big--and a bit pricier-- night out, The Gamekeeper is worth every penny. The Blowing Rock Grille and Glidewells were yummy, too. The Village Cafe for an elegant outdoor breakfast. Finally, and importantly, the best barbecue we have ever had was at The Woodlands, the one place we had to go back to one more time before leaving town. There was so much to do in this town full of wonderful places, people and views; however, the most precious part of the journey was being in this beautiful house, reading and talking on the back porch with a piping hot cup of hazelnut coffee and watching the clouds move across the valley while awaiting the gentle rain. This is a home that we will return to often. It is magic. Mary Ann and Deric
Owner response:It means so much to us when our guests "get it"- as these guests do. We have poured our hearts in to this cottage. It is magic to us too! Thank you!

The house is very charming and the pictures do not do it justice. Very well decorated and immaculate with charming antiques and very cozy. Kitchen is well stocked. Large HD TV in living room, but bring your own DVDs, as we couldn't find a place to rent any movies..There is a great porch on the back with wonderful furniture and a great view. Very convenient to downtown Blowing RIck with great restaurants and shops and the town park, with music and other events. We recommend the Storie Street Grill. Also very convenient to Grandfather Mountain, Glen Burney Trail in town,Moses Cone Park and other places.
Owner response:Thank you Carol! And thanks for the DVD tip. It turns out that DVD rentals can be found in Boone at several places- Walgreens and Harris Teeter have the Red Box and there are a few local rental stores as well. It takes 9-10 minutes to get from the house to Walgreens. That is really good feedback and thank you for your assistance!
