This Spanish casa dates from 1935 and was owned by actress Dorothy Lamour. Research and local legend say it was also the site of a rumored affair between Marilyn Monroe and a very high-ranking government official in the early 1960's.
The house is located just one house in from Ruth Hardy Park which has public tennis courts, playgrounds and lots of open space. This property is 1/3 acre. Quiet, safe neighborhood.
Professionally decorated, living area with 42" plasma TV and kiva wood-burning fireplace, sun/playroom, kitchen, laundry room, 4 bedrooms plus nursery area, 3 full baths. All floors are tiled, with area rugs. Fully enclosed and gated yard.
The sun/playroom has toys and games for children of all ages. Triple French doors open to the backyard with mini-playground, large pool, in-ground spa and mature fruit trees.
The updated kitchen has microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and everything needed for the serious chef. Fully equipped including all serving dishes, glassware, ceramic dishes plus plastic ware, for outdoor use, and kids' dishes. Laundry room, located off the kitchen, has large washer/dryer; detergent is supplied.
- Master Bedroom: King bed, sitting and dressing area, walk-in 2-head shower, nursery (crib and changing table, bedding supplied) off MBR area. French doors open to spacious backyard.
- Bedroom #2: King bed. Also contains the printer/fax/copier. Full bath with large tub, and (probably) Dorothy Lamour's medicine cabinet, is located right outside the bedroom door.
- Bedroom #3: Queen bed. Bathroom (shared with Bedroom #4).
- Bedroom #4: Enter through BR#3. Quality trundle bed can be 1 or 2 Twin beds. French doors open directly to the backyard.
Items supplied: Restoration Hardware fluffy towels, pool towels, all basic bath supplies (shampoo, hair dryers, soap).
The spacious landscaped yard has a heated pool and in-ground spa. Luxury Frontgate pool floats. Misting fan for hot summer days. No extra charge to heat the spa. Mini-playground with deck and slide for children and a playhouse (originally the work shed) completely decorated inside with a wonderful mural painted by local artist Snake Jagger.
The walled and gated backyard also has a huge grapefruit tree and apple and orange trees for healthy snacks. Take the steps up to the second-story "tanning" deck for an even better view of Mt. San Jacinto and Ruth Hardy Park.
There is one covered gated parking space. Another covered space is located on the circular drive in front. Two additional off-street parking spaces located off the circular drive.

Why the Owner Chose Ruth Hardy Park
We already owned a charming property (see VRBO listing #169001) in the Ruth Hardy Park neighborhood, perfect for an intimate vacation for my husband and me. When we found this home, a block away, we knew we wanted a larger property where our whole family could gather. We have already enjoyed time here with our sons and their girlfriends. I've set up the house to be prepared for the future when there may be little ones in the picture: crib, toys, and backyard mini-playground and playhouse. We plan to own this home for many years, though, so no rush, boys!
The Unique Benefits at this House
Just stroll across the street to let the kids run in the large open spaces and playgrounds of Ruth Hardy Park. Or play a game of tennis on the public courts in the park. Enjoy a vacation where you don't have to leave home to relax and unwind.
Palm Canyon Drive is a pleasant 5 block walk away. There's a little shopping center with a (non-Starbucks) Koffi shop, gift shop, and upscale Cafe Chocolate for lunch and gelato.
Go 3 blocks further south on Palm Canyon to get to the downtown area of Palm Springs with more restaurants and shopping.
Open-air courtyard with view of mountains. Get coffee at Koffi. Cafe Chocolate for delicious treats, gelato, lunch. Tell owners Jessie and John I say hello. More stores and galleries. See: palmspring
Palm Canyon Drive is closed off each Thursday evening 7-10pm for a street festival with local artisans, produce stands, live entertainment and more. Festival and street closing between Amado and Barri
Owner's Map of Ruth Hardy Park
My husband and I live in Washington, DC. I am a local, having lived inside the beltway (since it's been built, that is) all my life.
We have two sons, away at college. We also have several guinea pigs and box turtles, but they plan to stay at home.

We spent a week here and had an amazing time. The house is very comfortable and has everything you need to make yourself at home. Great for younger children with play room and outdoor play house. Across the street from huge park. Couldn't have asked for better. Thanks Sally!

"Thank you for sharing your incredibly beautiful home with us! This is the first place we have stayed where we truly feel at home! Not only is your place impeccably furnished, it is so well organized and thought out. You can certainly feel the love you put into your home! I spent hours playing with my niece in the playroom and enjoying "hanging" with my college boys in the pool. We so hope to be back next year. This home is a perfect blend of elegance and comfort! Our family recently stayed for a special occasion; very handy that the same owner has two places in walking distance (#169001). We were amazed by how much thought and care had gone into preparing the house for visitors--from grown ups down to the baby. Plenty of toys and games, plus a clubhouse and slide. Beautiful place to relax and have fun in the desert.
