This place was very nicely situated on the Gorge. The balcony is a fantastic size with a lovely view of the water and city. I really enjoyed the size, as my kids needed space to run around. It was a nicely updated space too. The only downside was the beds are not very comfortable. Definitely not a Westin dream bed or anything...very basic...even slightly uncomfortable. If you don't care about bed comfort, this is the place for you and your family. The other downside was the curtain rods would fall off the hooks when I went to open them, along with the towel bar and toilet paper holder. These are minor things that I am sure the owner will fix. It was just a little annoying to have these things in poor condition when I stayed there.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I recruit for a university in Nova Scotia, and am on the road for 10 straight weeks during the fall. This year, instead of doing the hotel thing like usual, I decide to book a townhouse with recruiters from two other universities on the east coast. After this stay, I can say that it's going to be hard for me to go back to living in hotels when I travel for work (which is frequent). I loved the kitchen, as it was beautiful, and well equipped. Living room furniture was nice and area was spacious (we had 9 others over for a potluck one night). Location was great for getting to various parts of the city easily. Safeway was a mere 2 minute drive away for us to stock up on food. Pricing was very fair for what we received. Deidre was very fast at getting back to me with any questions I had about the unit, and directions to the unit/instructions for entry were clear. It rained during my only free time in Victoria, so I was unable to take in any outdoor activities, but if you wanted to go for a bike on the Galloping Goose Trail, there was a bike rental shop 3 minutes from the unit. Only drawbacks of the stay: 1) internet was slow, depending on what you need it for, but even streaming videos on youtube was a challenge. 2) There is only one shower in the unit. With three of us, we never had any issues fighting for shower time in the morning, but depending on the size of your group, it could be problematic. Overall, we had a very very positive stay here. It just feels so much nicer to have your own space/kitchen/common area that a hotel just can't provide (and for a fraction of the cost!). Being able to wake up every morning and cook bacon and eggs for breakfast before a long work day was so amazing. I usually travel with 30-40 other university recruiters when I'm on the road, and every single one we had over said that the place was beautiful. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to rent for either work or play.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Everything was as promised. Clean and perfect for all 5 of us. The location of the property proved to be just right. Very close to downtown Victoria. The complex was also very suitable. The unit had all of the amenities needed for our 3 night stay. Most impressive was the hospitatlity of the owners. They were very helpful in getting us there (ferries, directions, etc.). We had some 'confusion' on operating the TV and called them to ask 'how'. Thinking this would likely be met with 'are you kidding me?'....but not at all! They were very patient and accomodating. Couldn't have asked for more. I would definitely recommend this place for anybody visiting Victoria!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Stayed for three nights in July with three other adults and a teenager. Townhome accommodated all of us comfortably. Only having one shower was not ideal, but we knew we'd have to share ahead of time and planned accordingly. Galley kitchen had everything we needed - we didn't cook any large meals but it looked like the cupboards were stocked to do so. Beds were comfy. Fold out couch seemed nice by fold out couch standards. All three patios were used - we had spectacular weather. The large patio on the topmost floor was very nice for relaxing and visiting. The two other patios faced apartment balconies fairly close by, so we didn't use them as much. Location of townhome was nice - quick drive to central Victoria. About a three block walk to access the Galloping Goose trail and totally worth the stroll. Deidre was very communicative and helpful when we had a small issue with the television. She answered all my emails quickly and thoroughly.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Both the listing text and photos accurately depicted this roomy and comfortable two-story vacation rental, with one minor quibble. At least in the US, "2 baths" implies that there are two rooms in which one can bathe or shower. This unit actual has only one such room, plus a "powder room" - i.e. containing a sink and toilet only. Everything was clean and well-maintained plus the owner was exceptionally helpful. We would definitely recommend it to our friends and family wishing to visit our mother, whose home is on the Gorge. We used it as a central base of operations to visit Island wineries, hit downtown Victoria restaurants (Cafe Brio and Bon Rouge were both memorable), go to the natural history museum, and have drinks at the Empress. Located at the Gorge end of Balfour Road, behind the Ramada, it couldn't be easier to find for the first time visitor. We would definitely return here when next we are in Victoria.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing.

My family of five three adults two children arrived in Victoria to a very clean and spacious condo. The pictures truly reflect the rental and the big outdoor patio was excellent. There were 3 balconies...very nice. However due to the poor weather we weren't able to utilize them, but the views were very nice. There is a pullout sofa but really is only good for small children not suitable for adults too uncomfortable. We had a problem with the oven (not operating) but the owner came over right away and it was fixed the next am. The condo is close to everything. Our two little girls enjoyed the nature trail that was close by and the downtown playground. Would definately recommend this unit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for the comments Colleen! You will be happy to know we have a nice new green sofa bed suitable for everyone now. Photos to follow soon (:

Whether you're looking for an escape within the heart of Victoria or to improve your heart in Victoria, this townhome offers both! Located less than 2 miles (3 kilometers) from downtown along the Gorge Waterway it's perfectly situated to go anywhere with ease within the city and surrounding attractions. Very clean, fully equipped, and nicely furnished, this spacious second and third floor townhome also offers excellent views of the waterway and inner city. We stayed three nights and it was “The best birthday ever!” according to our daughter. Deidre was very responsive, kind, and accommodating in every interaction, making the trip a breeze. We will be back…depending on availability…why am I telling you this?Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for the kind words and look forward to your next visit! Deidre

Okay. I do not not take the time to write reviews, but this time, I am compelled. First, I am a seasoned traveler, and have stayed in awesome places. This property, exceeds the advertised features. It is immaculate, with tasteful attention to details. The leather furniture, the hardware floors, granite countertops, and stainless appliances, only paint part of the picture. The rest, well, convenience to downtown Victoria, outstanding restaurants, the water /city view, private patio, I mean what did I forget? Oh yeah, great customer service. So great, that I'm extending my stay. I would give this a 10 if it was possible.Owner response: I am glad you are having a good time Anne! It is a peaceful well located spot which makes it a great getaway for singles or families.

My husband, myself, our 3 1/2 yr old daughter, our 1 1/2 yr old son, and my sister in law made the trip up to Victoria for my father in law's 79th birthday. Finding a place that was big enough for all of us and reasonably priced was the priority. This rental had it all. The price was fabulous...You would be hard pressed to find something this nice for the price. The townhome was clean and well maintained. It is excellent for families with small children as it has a pack n play (we brought our own, but nice to know it was available), a high chair and even gates for the stairs, which was a bonus. The rooms were nice and good sized. The laundry room is huge with an open carpeted storage area that we used as kind of a 4th bedroom for our son in the pack n play. There are three nice patio/balcony areas that would be excellent to use in the summer. All in all, this place was perfect for our family. It is close to downtown and has a nice view as well. We will definitely stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends/family.Owner response: Thanks for the comments Donelle and look forward to your next visit!

Had the most relaxing week! The town house was perfect, very clean, spacious, and great views with beautiful weather. We walked into downtown on the galloping goose trail daily. Just park your car and enjoy fresh air! As we walked the trail we picked blackberries off of the vines and fresh apples from the trees. If you just need to chill and relax this is the place! Deidre was very helpful in getting us set up at the last minute.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a great stay at the condo. We were 4 adults and 2 young kids, and it accommodated us very comfortably, with the kids sharing the fold-out couch in the study. The location was very handy to downtown (though you'd need a car or could take a bus). Easy access to lovely walking/biking trails, and wonderful views across the water. I wouldn't necessarily recommend using the fold-out couch for adults as the mattress wasn't in fabulous shape, but it was absolutely fine for the kids. The owner was very communicative and helpful. Very happy with our stay there!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife, daughter and I flew from Edmonton to Comox airport for an August vacation with my parents. We had booked this vacation rental well in advance and were quite excited about a little 3 day 2 night vacation in Victoria. This was not the first time we had used VRBO and had amazing experiences - which we in turn conveyed to my parents (first time VRBO users). Our initial impression of this condo unit was that it was spacious, looked exactly as it was advertised and would certainly suit our needs. The unit came complete with a play pen for our 19 month old to sleep in and a high chair for her to eat in. We couldn't have asked for more from a unit in a getaway location like Victoria. However, as we set out to prepare dinner the first evening we discovered that the counters, stove top (and front) and pots/pans and dishes/glasses required significant cleaning before we dared begin. The grease was caked on these items and came as quite a shock. The next day my daughter was playing with my wife and I in the 2nd floor office/den while my parents continued their morning slumber. As she was playing with her toys on the carpet we suddenly noticed a huge clump of hair in her hand that she was attempting to eat (from which she acquired from the deep pile shag-like rug). It was apparent from the dirty socks on our feet, the smeared mirrors, dirty windows and dirty socks from walking about the house that this unit was not cleaned before our arrival. Something we were looking very forward to... was having a dream like dinner and wine on the outdoor deck. Upon surveying the deck we quickly discovered that most of the wicker furniture in the photos were now broken, the umbrella was not on the deck or anywhere inside the unit and the ambience creating plants that were present in the photos were dead (in the plant pots) and leaning against the railing quite a distance away. It was apparent that the amazing dinner with a somewhat obstructed view of downtown was not going to be a reality either. More disappointment!!! We contacted the owner of this unit via email and shared our feelings with her. She replied and informed us that her unit was not a hotel and therefore would not be as clean as many would hope. If we were looking for something like that we were in the wrong price-point. She offered to refund us the cleaning fee and take another $100 off the charged amount for the rental.Owner response: We appreciate all comments from our guests, positive and negative. This is our first negative comment and we have taken it seriously enough to terminate our previous cleaning contractor and bring on someone new. It is our goal that every guest have a 5 out of 5 vacation experience, as is reflected in all other comments we have received. Unfortunately we were away ourselves during this guests stay and were unable to come and meet with these guests to try to solve any issues they may have had at the time, as would be our reaction to any guest expressing unhappiness during their stay. While we do not dispute that there may have been some deficiencies in the cleanliness of the unit, we believe there has been a communication breakdown with these guests if they got the impression that we felt the unit did not have to be as clean as a hotel room. A big reason why we stay in VRBO properties and not hotels is that generally VRBO properties are in fact much cleaner and better maintained than hotel properties. It is very important to us that our own properties reflect that high standard. As this guest noted we did provide significant compensation and as we noted above it did lead directly to our going in a new direction with cleaning staff. The comments we have received since this guests stay, and before for that matter, have been very, very good, and we feel this is a very good indication of just how isolated an incident this was for us. We always appreciate an opportunity to get better. Thanks for your comment.

I never write reviews but our family had such a great experience I had to share. My family and I just spent Easter long weekend in Victoria and given we were all coming from the four corners of the earth, it was so great to be able to meet in a home rather than a hotel. This was a great space, a great location and we even had amazing weather. I would recommend this property for anyone who is looking for a great Victoria home base but has a car to get you from point to point.Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Review #1413849 Highly Recommend Our family stayed in this condo during a spring break trip to Victoria. As a family of two adults and two teenagers, we had more than enough room. The condo is spacious and well appointed and mere minutes from the inner harbor. We appreciated the ability to be able to cook some of our meals and do laundry - all for less money than it would have cost to rent two hotel rooms. Although we didn't try it, there is a transit stop right out in front of the building. Deidre, the owner made the check-in and check-out process easy, and overall this was a great experience. I would definitely stay again on a return trip and would highly recommend to other travelers.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The townhome on the gorge was outstanding in several ways: - it was cosy and spacious inside - the location among greenspace and near the water, with views of the water, and 3 decks with views, were all very pleasant - the parking super convenient - the owners were very helpful and went beyond the call of duty to make sure our needs were met, friendly and responsive at every juncture - the beds comfortable!! Thank you very much to Deidre. I will definitely put this at the top of my list of places to stay whenever my family, friends or visitors are in Victoria. Victoria is a beautiful city, and I, PJ, took my 3 daughters ages 11, 13 and 18 there for a New Years trip. I am the girls father. My favorite place to go in Victoria are: Swans Brew Pub, Royal Canadian Museum, Craig Darroch Castle, Fort Rodd, and Point Ellice house. When we go on trips together, we love renting a house, townhouse or condo because of the ability to easily prepare meals and relax in a living room together. You know: put on the sweats and slippers and turn on a movie, or, play a board game together. This townhouse housed us very comfortably. It was quiet, spacious and clean and appeared to be like new. The kitchen was completly equipped. The living room has leather furniture that was very comfortable. Since we came in the winter, we were, unfortuneately, unable to take advantage of the great looking patio with a view of the water - it sounded like it would be great for a family bar be que. The property is located near shopping, and very close to downtown Victoria. The owner of the property is quite friendly and easy to do business with. The home has great views of the gorge, and a great walk is just 10 minutes away.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
