ATTENTION: The Casita books VERY quickly. I do my best to keep the availability calendar up to date but sometimes it books faster than I can update the calendar, so please email me to see if your specific dates are still available. (I am quicker at answering emails as opposed to phone calls) Also, please read additional notes at bottom of Casita description to determine if the Casita is the right choice for your stay in San Diego. Thanks!
Come and enjoy your very own Casita located on Camino de la Costa the coveted 'Street of Dreams' in the community of La Jolla.
Our vacation rental is located in the cute community of Bird Rock. Here you will be surrounded by friendly locals, not a lot of tourists find our little gem of a town.
From Bird Rock you can walk (20 minutes) or ride bikes (10 minutes) to famous Wind'an Sea Beach, and a mile or so after that you will find the upscale part of our town we call 'The Village'. The Village of La Jolla has many shops, parks, antique stores, art galleries & restaurants. If you crave some serious night life, don't fret - Bird Rock is a short 20 minute drive from downtown San Diego and the Gaslamp District. We are happy to give you our list of favorite restaurants around town. There are so many to choose from...you may have to stay a month or more!!
This spacious studio is located directly across the street from the ocean and can be your relaxing home away from home. Situated on the second story, the Casita is completely private and detached from the main house with it's own private entrance. The interior has a Spanish Colonial flair with antique stained glass windows in the bathroom & entry, as well as large windows encompassing the entire room.
The Casita does not have a full kitchen, but has a small fridge w/very small freezer to store mid-night snacks or your dinner left-overs from one of our many fantastic restaurants located within a short walking distance. There is also a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and kitchen utensils such as plates, silverware, glasses, napkins...you get the idea.
There is a also a pub table with four stools which allows you to sit up high and see peak water views. Or if you so desire, take your wine and cheese to the ocean front park (literally across the street) where you can watch the sun set over the ocean as is the nightly ritual for many locals in our neighborhood. (don't forget to look for the 'green flash')
Within the studio apartment there is a queen sized bed with high end linens for your comfort. Two chairs to relax and watch one of the many DVD's available for your use or to read a good book by the fire.
The bathroom has a single sink, toilet and a stand up shower only, no tub.
Let our Casita be your Casita while you laze the days away at Wind'an Sea Beach, or walk to Bird Rock Point to look for sea glass...or if you choose you can just lay on the beach and do nothing at all. ...La Jolla offers so much to see and do, it's up to you.
We supply two beach chairs, two beach cruisers for your use, a picnic basket (you must fill it with your own food and drink) as well as a starter of paper goods, trash bags, soap, etc.
We have all of our renters park their vehicles across the street from the Casita, in front of the ocean front park. It is un restricted street parking 24/7 and we also park our cars there from time to time with out any issues.
PLEASE NOTE: The Casita does not offer daily maid service unless previously arranged prior to your arrival and at an additional cost. The Casita does not have A/C or central heating. To cool the Casita you must open the windows to allow the ocean breeze to come in. There are also fans in the Casita for your use. To heat the Casita, the fireplace warms the room very well, there is also an electric space heater for your use if needed. You may hear some street noise due to Casita's proximity to La Jolla Blvd. No pets. No smoking please. Discounted rates for stays over 30 days.

The Casita was great for my wife and I. It was cold in San Diego while we were ther but the fireplace was the ticket. Heather and Dana were great, even thoughwe hardly saw them.
Owner response:Hi Mike! So sorry I didn't get to see you before you left. The weather was quite chilly during your stay. I hate to tell you, but as soon as you left we had temps in the high 70's. :( Hopefully you can come back again and experience our famous San Diego sunshine that eluded you this trip. All the best!

Hi Heather---We had a lovely stay at the Casita---The gas fireplace was delightful. It was perfect location/comfortable bed. My husband did join me for the weekend (as he was doing business in CA,too). We tended to come in late and leave in the early AM to spend every moment with our new grandchild. Thanks, PS Hope to see you again in the future.

we enjoyed the Casita for a quick 3-day getaway, and it was wonderful! the location is fantastic -- plenty of great restaurants in walking distance, and the Village is only a short drive. the Casita itself is quite charming. being there in summer we didn't enjoy the fireplace, but we did love the ocean breezes, and the ceiling fan keeps the room comfortable. the amenities are quite nice; the bed is comfy and having the microwave/fridge/utensils and dinnerware was great for being able to pack a lunch for a longer day excursion. Heather is incredibly helpful and full of great suggestions for enjoying the area; they make you feel quite welcome without ever disturbing your privacy. a plus is a lovely outdoor courtyard for enjoying sunny mornings or cool evenings. if you surf, the proximity to Tourmaline is handy (as is Windansea, if you're a brave enough to try it.) we hope to be able to return sooner than later...and maybe experience that fireplace!
Owner response:Thank you for your kind words Erika. We'd love to see you again so please keep us in mind if you decide on another quick weekend getaway....then you can try out the cozy fireplace. :)

We had an absolutely fantastic time on our visit to La Jolla. Your house and neighborhood are so beautiful, and the Casita was just perfect for our needs. The Casita was just as it was advertised in pictures and description. It was comfortable, homey, and a great location. We loved that it was right near the bus line so we could hop on and ride into La Jolla for dinner, beaches, etc. and not have to worry about gas, directions or a place to park! I dove right back into work this week with a busy summer ahead, and it was so nice to have that quiet time. Thanks again!

My fiance and I recently stayed at The Casita after spending the weekend in San Diego! We ran the 1/2 marathon and then headed up the coast to find this little slice of heaven! Heather was super nice and made us feel welcome from the get-go. We quickly learned that the location of The Casita was key! We spent our first morning touring around La Jolla on the beachcruisers left out for us! We saw surfers, seals/sea lions, and got lots of exercise biking up and down La Jolla's hills! We ate breakfast at The Cottage in downtown La Jolla. The food was amazing and the staff was exceptionally friendly! We spent much of the rest of our stay laying out on the beach, eating Mexican food, and touring around San Deigo. The Casita was warm and inviting to come home to each night! Highly recommended if you are looking for a cozy place to stay!

My wife and I stayed at the Casita in late March. The location is excellent. A small park is just across the street and several larger parks are within a mile. Great to have a picnic lunch or visit in late afternoon and have some wine and cheese while watching the surfers and the sun set. Heather is a very gracious and attentive hostess. She is very interested in making your stay enjoyable. Her suggestions on restaurants and activities were on the mark and greatly appreciated. Bottom line we loved the casita, and had a great 8 day stay. Our only regret is we wish we could have stayed longer. We look forward to returning.

You really cannot top this location for a stay in La Jolla. Away from the action of Windandsea, but close enough to the beaches. Posh neighborhood on the ocean. Great value for a cozy room (much larger than a hotel room) with the privacy that you can't get in a hotel. They even had beach cruiser bikes for our use. Easily 5 stars in my book!

Just wanted to let you know, once again, how much we enjoyed the Casita!! It was a little piece of heaven - a sanctuary - we will always remember. Someday I hope to return. You were so gracious and generous....the wine was enjoyed, believe me. Your decorative touches created an ambiance of complete relaxation. I wish you and your family all the best and continued success. Warm regards,
