Hana Hou means "Encore!" or "One More Time!" in the Hawaiian language. This house is the perfect East Coast spot to return to again and again...centrally located less than one mile from downtown Surf City where there is plenty to do and plenty to see.
Surf City, on Topsail Island NC, is beautiful year-round, but it is particularly beautiful in the fall and spring when there is a chill in the air and there are peaceful, rolling waves. This home is a great spot for a Thanksgiving family celebration in November.
Hana Hou is beautifully decorated in bright, primary colors reminiscent of the bright colors of a Hawaiian luau. The beachfront views from Hana Hou are spectacular, and the bonus breakfast nook has a street side balcony. The floor plan of this house is bright, open, airy and fun. And, if you're traveling with family (ohana), grandchildren (keiki), or a group of friends, you might want to know that Hana Hou has an identical sister house called Hana Kai right next door(both offer 2K, 2Q, and 2S beds.)
Aloha, friends, just check out this home. Two King bedroom suites have sliding glass doors onto the lower deck. An upstairs Queen bedroom (we call it the "Maui" room, and you'll see why) also features it's own private bathroom. Two downstairs street side rooms house a two single beds and a queen bed which share an easily accessible hall bath. The kitchen is fully stocked with plastic dishes, glass dishes, glassware, pots and pans, baking dishes...whatever you might need to prepare your pineapple and papaya recipes!
The vaulted ceiling Great Room has a large screened TV, DVD, VCR, CD/stereo....even surround sound for family movie night. The upstairs dining area in this "reverse" living plan is a great place to use your wireless high speed internet access. All of Hana Hou's bedrooms have their own private TV and remote control, and let's not forget the gas fireplace in the Great Room...all the ingredients for a really GREAT time.
Outside, Hana Hou features covered parking for four cars and an enclosed basement entryway. Enjoy the sea breeze (ahe) from the porch swing of the covered first floor deck, or move up top and bask in the sun in the white Adirondack deck chairs. Like to walk barefoot on the beach? You are steps away from the ocean (moana) when stroll down Hana Hou's private walkway.
If you like to get out and about at the beach, you are 10 minutes from Topsail Beach and its quaint shops, and less than 5 minutes from Surf City to the north with its surf shops, art shops, delicatessens, dining establishments and fresh fish market. We built this house, and the sister house next door (Hana Kai) in 2003, because we love Topsail Island! Topsail Island is easy to get to from area airports and highways, and yet it is very secluded and private--a great place to spend time with our four kids. Hana Hou is located about a half a mile past the "S" curve from Surf City. You can run to town for dinner or groceries, and then return to this lovely oceanfront setting for peace and tranquility. We are the only owners of Hana Hou,
and we make it a point to take care of our home. Each year we make multiple visits
to the house to restock and spring clean as needed. Our motto is, "if we want to stay there, you'll want to stay there."
Why the Owner Chose Surf City
We love Topsail Beach! About 20 years ago some of our friends bought a vacation home there.
We used to stay with them, and now we own our own home. We love the atmosphere, the location, the locals...it is the best beach on the East Coast.
