I've stayed at the Lodgepole Pine House 3 or 4 times, & I'm remiss in writing a review. This is a fabulous house, whether one is staying the in the winter for skiing, spring for mushroom hunting or walking, summer for swimming, or fall for tree colors & more walking. The house accomodates many guests, yet there is lots of privacy & quiet, without being too spread-out. The house is very clean (which I particularly appreciate), pleasant, not cluttered at all & well-thought out. The Serene Lakes area provides lots of quiet paths for roaming, the lake is absolutely the best for swimming, and one can get to town easily. I will definitely return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I have rented many places using VRBO and I have to say this is by far the best I have ever experienced. It is amazing in every detail. I'll begin at the beginning. Upon our arrival we pulled into the garage and unloaded all our gear in the spacious "mud room" on the bottom floor. The place was immaculate - something I have not found in many place I have rented - so it is much appreciated. The architecture is unlike anything I have seen before and can easily be recognized as a custom home designed by an experienced and creative architect (I believe the owner herself!). The bedrooms are spacious and there is plenty of room for any large group to spread out. The large doors and windows bring in natural light that fills the house. I love the wood stove most of all - it fills the house with a warmth that folds around you. And the radiant heating (which we really didn't need with the fireplace going) avoids the noise and dryness of forced air heating. The peace and quiet you feel here makes you never want to go home! Our visit was in June but I will be coming back in the fall for sure. Don't miss this place!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We rented the Lodgepole Pine House with a group of 11 and it was perfect. It's very modern, clean, and comfortable, and extremely well thought out. It's hard to beat heated bathroom floors. We had 11 adults and 2 dogs and at no time did we feel cramped. We were in town to hike, mountain bike, and paddle on the lake and the house was a perfect launching spot for our adventures. Having a driveway that fit 5 cars was an added bonus. The architect thought this one through carefully and it shows. We'll definitely return in the future if our plans bring us back to Serene Lakes.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, girls getaway.

Wow, I'm almost speechless, Lodgepole Pine is so amazingly spacious, quiet, beautful. The big rush of space, the glowing pine boards, the outside piercing the veil of the inside, the rustic chunks of still-almost-tree holding up various household things, the feel of silk smooth pebbles on the bath floors- you have created a real oasis that does justice to its breathtaking surroundings. Open & airy by day, cosy & snug by night. Thanks for letting us share this. On Monday Alfie learned to ski- in the same place (Soda Springs) & at the same age Peter did, with his dad. Love that historical continuity- it's in short supply on my side of the family. Hope to return and see this beauty in many other seasons. Caitlin. Peter & AlfieDid you find this review helpful? My husband & I had a wonderful time at the Lodgepole House! I would definitely suggest it to all those who want a comfortable and family-oriented yet stylish stay in the mountains. It's great for a group of people or an intimate gathering. We cooked some great meals in a well-organized kitchen, slept well in fine beds, walked from the house & swam in the lake, also walked from the house on a long wildflower hike. I loved the outdoor shower as well as the indoor ones - had to try each one... I'll make it a point to return in other seasons as well. Thanks!Did you find this review helpful? I had a crowd of people here for my thirtieth birthday and we cooked every morning and evening in the beautiful (well-stocked, user-friendly) kitchen, sat by the fire, went skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, had snowball fights, played Battleship, Scrabble, hide-and-go-seek and just generally had the best slumber party of all time. I highly recommend this spacious, lovely, friendly house for a stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We went with a group of 12 people, and my boyfriend and I stayed in the downstairs middle bedroom. We absolutely loved the warm floors! We also enjoyed the privacy, and couldn't hear much of what was happening in the rest of the house. The kitchen has storage under the island that was perfect for a big group, in which everyone wants to cook or bring snacks/breakfast. On our trip, each of the couples staying used each cabinet under the island as their own "cubby." The house is also very conveniently located near SugarBowl for a quick ski get-away from the Bay Area. We would definitely go again and highly recommend this house!Did you find this review helpful? We had an amazing stay; the house is incredible. I just loved all the porches and the outdoor shower. The house is like nothing else up in Tahoe. Better than staying at a 5 star hotel! We are going to make staying at the Lodgepole House a family tradition!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is an awesome house! It is absolutely beautiful, warm, and spacious. The kitchen is well stocked with high quality cooking utensils (we love to cook and eat). There was lots of bedding, towels, etc... We had three families here with a total of 7 kids (age 1 1/2- 15) and we all had a fabulous time. There is no TV, but that ended up being great as we played cards and games, did puzzles, and went sledding right across the street in the open lot. I would HIGHLY recommend this fabulous house!Owner response: We have added a high def TV to the house.
