SPECTACULAR

Guest: mr.ke (redding, ca)
Date of Stay: 03/16/12 Review Submitted: 03/24/12

As so many others have noted, the photos don't do the property justice. When we arrived it was raining sideways. The wind was blowing, the sky was gray and the sea was angry. And yet, what a spectacular view of mother nature's fury from the wall of windows facing the sea. The home was instantly warm a comforting on such a blustery day. The perfect place to take shelter from the storm. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay as effortless as possible. From the amazing kitchen to the beach towels to the VERY comfortable beds. When the weather broke we were able to enjoy some of the many activities the area has to offer; state parks, beaches and the quaint towns of Ft. Bragg and Mendocino. We can't wait to return.

PERFECTION!!!!

Guest: Kathleen (United States)
Date of Stay: 02/03/12 Review Submitted: 02/08/12

As a few other reviewers have stated, while the photos were nice they did not do the house or the view justice! Everything took our breath away, from the truly magnificent view to the impeccably decorated house. Our every need was anticipated and taken care of so that we could relax and recharge. While both the town of Mendocino and Ft. Bragg are close and offer a wide array of activities to enjoy, I could very easily have spent the entire weekend at the house! I would highly recommend this house to anyone planning a trip to Fort Bragg!

Perfect!

Myself, my partner & our two dogs stayed at this magnificent home. We were so pleased with everything and couldn't believe how perfect it was, even for our favorite four-legged family members. Our dogs were as happy as we were. The house is clean, beautiful, and comfortable. We had a last minute reservation that came together very simply without flaw. We definitely look forward to a return trip and are so grateful to the owners for making such a wonderful spot so welcoming.

Like Staying at A Friend's Luxury Beach House

Guest: mcornes (San Francisco)
Date of Stay: 08/30/11 Review Submitted: 09/08/11

I can only echo what all the other reviewers have to say about the property- it's truly top notch: recently remodeled, right on the ocean overlooking a small cove, last house-at-the-end-of-the-road kind of feeling and yet just a few minutes from the sizable town of Fort Bragg. A private path down to the beach. Hot Tub. Horseshoes. Laundry. Fireplace. Plenty of communal space and still room for individual privacy. It feels much more like someone's home than "a rental". It's full of all kinds of personal touches, and I especially appreciate how they have thought of everything for guests, from a fully, fully stocked kitchen to soap in the bathrooms to extra beach shoes and sweatshirts to a runner through the garage connecting the house with the hot tub for those bare foot runs inside. We've stayed in many VRBO properties but never one so thoughtfully and generously appointed.

What a house, what a view!

Guest: BSTATL (Atlanta, GA)
Date of Stay: 05/18/11 Review Submitted: 05/31/11

The long, winding driveway suggests privacy and a hint of the magnificent view. The "Wows" include the view, the access to the beach, the perfectly positioned hot tub, the best equipped and beautiful kitchen (with a view), the dining area (with a view), the fireplace (so easy to use and enjoy), the bathrooms (oh those shower heads), and comfortable beds! There was also interest access and cable tv in the living room. Great location ..could walk to Harvest Market (healthy walk with bags) and drive to Ft Bragg in 5 mins and Mendocino in 10 mins. Absolutely no complaints.

Our Experience at A New World

Guest: Ger (Southport West Sacramento)
Date of Stay: 02/10/11 Review Submitted: 04/15/11

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our group stayed at “A New World” for three days to celebrate my mother-in-law's 80th birthday. I must say that the photos of this property and home do not do it justice. When we arrived, we were quite overwhelmed with the ambiance, décor and views from the home. Everything is top of the line, upscale, of good quality and immaculately clean! The fireplace heated the entire house and is extremely efficient not to mention it is large and very attractive. The leather sofas and chairs were very luxurious and comfortable. The kitchen is gorgeous and is set up for major cooking and entertaining. It is totally self contained with pots, pans, dishes, glassware, silverware, dish towels and more. The bedrooms were wonderful with comfortable beds, plenty of available bedding and storage for clothing and suitcases. There were his and hers robes in the closets. The bathrooms were tastefully decorated with deep Jacuzzi tub, waterfall showers and thick high quality towels. We cooked, visited, watched movies, read, flew a kite, took nature walks and did some beach combing during our visit. The beach below the house is a beautiful private cove which is an entirely separate experience from the home and the property. The sunsets and ocean scapes were magnificent. What more can I say. You will love the experience of “A New World” it is both healing and rejuvenating to your soul. My compliments to the owners Bob & Lynda for creating this incredible retreat by the sea!

A NEW WORLD IN DEED, The pictures do not do this property justice. IT is truley breath taking. The view ,WOW, you never want to leave the house. It is incrediable. Don't like to cook, you will here, the kitchen is to die for. What a vision the owners had in renovating this beautiful property.. What a master piece you have created. The exqusite tile throughout the entire house is beautiful. Bathrooms amazing!!! Beautiful spa color scheme. The beautiful pathway to the beach for exploring or just taking it all in. Pet friendly, outdoor shower, and wild life in your yard. Easy access, directions were perfect, wonderful for handicapped people. You can enjoy the ocean sitting in the house.. WE will go every year. WE truly LOVE this home. It is so comfy , makes you feel so at home, Thank You so much for Sharing, Great Home, Bob and Lynda

Owner response:Thank you for your very descriptive comments - potential guests appreciate reading previous guests experiences, it helps them make a selection between homes for their vacation. We look forward to your next visit at A New World! Take care, Bob & Lynda

A House worthy of the magnificent views!

Guest: East Bay Travellers (Alameda CA)
Date of Stay: 07/03/10 Review Submitted: 07/28/10

As with all the other reviews here, it’s true to say that the pictures do not adequately describe this magnificent home. Not only is it beautifully appointed and furnished with top of the line appliances and amenities, but it doesn’t lack a single convenience. All the fixtures in the bathrooms are both modern and luxurious and the thoughtful hosts have even provided niceties such as boutique shampoos, lotions soaps, etc. There is not one single thing you’ll need to bring except for the clothes on your back and food to prepare in the gourmet kitchen, and of course some extra charcoal if you’re going to be grilling. The views were so fantastic that even our dog, which was a welcome guest as well, took in the panoramic vistas and enjoyed watching others on the beach. And did we mention the beach?? The steps to beach provided unfettered access to what’s essentially a private beach where the creek runs into the ocean. And what better to enjoy a nice outdoor shower to clean up on your return – even our dog got a good bath outside! I could elaborate and continue to heap platitudes on “A New World” but I have to admit – as a set of finicky travelers we had no complaints at all – only compliments. We enjoyed every part of the property which we gladly shared with the deer, wild turkeys and sea-birds hovering overhead. As others have said get there and stock up – you will never have to leave (but if you do take the trail a block away along Noyo Harbor and then head over the Harvest Market which is the Fort Bragg equivalent of “Whole Foods” without the hefty prices. Thank you Bob and Lynda for a fantastic one-of-a-kind experience. There is a reason this place is booked so far in advance! If you love to expolre the beach or just sit up on the cliffs admiring the views you will not be disappointed!

This was my 4th VRBO, and 1st in CA, and it was the best rental property I've seen yet. Pictures don't to it justice. The property is newly remodeled and plush. The owners were attentive and a pleasure to work with. I'd recommend this property for those looking for a relaxing and comfortable experience, with a sense of adventure to explore Fort Bragg and the country side.

Top Shelf

Guest: Alan & Karen (Wheatland, CA)
Date of Stay: 04/22/10 Review Submitted: 05/05/10

The moment we entered the gate a unique feeling of peaceful excitement washed over us. The long smooth driveway, lead us past the lush green lawn and on to an amazing work of architecture. And that’s just the exterior. Once inside, we truly were in A New World. Everything was, as they say, “top shelf and first cabin.” The slate floors, the décor, and the kitchen were like being in a designer magazine. The bathrooms were an absolute seminar on imagination and elegance. Oh yeah, and the view! As spectacular as any, better than most. The calming yet powerful effect of the waves dashing themselves on the rocks is beautifully contrasted by families’ leisurely enjoying the beach. Deer and wild turkey roamed the property without a care enhancing the sense of relaxation that permeates this world-class vacation destination. Thank you for creating this masterpiece and even greater, thanks for sharing it with us!

Photos do not do this house justice. The view and location are spectacular, especially with direct beach access. Everyone who came on the trip was blown away by the amenities, especially kitchen/bathrooms. The house has more than enough space/beds for a large group (we had seven people), I'm excited to return sometime soon.

This was our first visit to "A New World", but without a doubt it will not be our last. This is by far the most beautiful place to rest, relax, reflect or to reconnect on the Coast. The house was so inviting with each and every room decorated with care and special thought. The bedding beautiful and so comfortable. We never left the house just enjoyed cooking the the chefs delight kitchen with the captivating view. The owners are wonderful caring people who truly want each guest to have the opportunity to enjoy. One last note that was so special to us, they are pet friendly and our 2 boys enjoyed this trip as much as we did. A big Thank you to Bob and Lynda. We will be back.

Owner response:Thank you for your kind remarks - our pets are part of our families also so we do try to assure each and every guest enjoys their stay. There are dog bowls and mats under the laundry sink and dog beds available -- Bob

This home is stunning and the view spectacular. We enjoyed cooking in the gourmet kitchen, lunch out by the ocean, sitting in the spa under the stars at night, the luxurious rain shower and the great nights sleep in the comfortable bed. I can't imagine there is a better place to stay on the North Coast. Thank you for making this home available for others to enjoy.

Our most memorable vacation

My family and I stayed at "A New World" two summers ago. We are always trying to go new places and see new things, including most of the national parks in California and Utah. We have been some pretty amazing places, but I have to say that this home is by far the most relaxing and memorable vacation we have ever had. In my mind I go back there still, and imagine myself looking out to the ocean, seeing the fog roll in, and watching my boys frolick on the shore..looking for and finding starfish! I will always hold a special place in my soul for this vacation spot. The heated bathroom floors were a nice touch too:)

We just wanted to take a moment to let you know what a magnificent time we had at "A New World". Your home, the view, the solitude, everything was just spectacular. We ate all our meals in, enjoying cooking in your beautiful kitchen. My parents felt like a "King and Queen" and couldn't have been more pleased with their 61st Wedding Anniversary celebration with their two children and spouses. The memories created will be in all our hearts for many many years. We are looking forward to returning someday.

The view is spectacular especially sitting in the living room looking out the large windows. The fireplace is great in the morning with a cup of coffee and seeing the morning sun come up over the ocean. We saw deer, birds and seagulls walking around the property. Each room in the house was exquisite, comfortable and all the amenties that a couple or family could need. The beds were very cozy with great mattresses for a good night sleep. The shower in the hall bathroom is out of this world...it felt like a rain shower and I didn't want to get out! The kitchen has everything that you would need and a great atmosphere for meals. We had a candlelight dinner. The outside view of the ocean was the most relaxing weekend we had in a long time. There is a private stairway down to the ocean, which is very unusual in this area. So, if you are looking for a great weekend, great house, best view of the ocean and easy access to the ocean, this is the house.

My family has ejoyed staying at these owners'property since they located in Fort Bragg several years ago. Not only are we regulars, we have whole heartedly recommended this property to friends who have become regulars themselves! The fantastic ocean view, comfortable quarters, state of the art kitchen, fantastic showers, fireplace, secluded privacy and the everpresent, pleasant roar of the ocean are reasons enough to promote repeat visits. Yet, these are not the compelling reasons we choose this house for many of our vacation get-aways. The compelling draw for us is the warm feeling of being comfortably home, yet truly in another world. Excellent value!

This is a really special house. There are four good-sized bedrooms with REALLY comfortable beds and upscale bedding. Two and a half bathrooms with natural light, heated slate floors and top of the line fixtures. The kitchen is a chef's delight with granite counter-tops, 2 sinks, 2 ovens and a gas range. While you're cooking you can talk to your housemates in the large living room that runs the width of the house or look past them to the stunning view of the ocean from the floor to ceiling windows. The house is large enough and designed so that a group can be together or apart as they wish. The furniture is soft, comfortable and tasteful. It's thoughtfully decorated without being busy. There is a large, flat yard surrounding the house with beautiful landscaping and a brick staircase leading down to a private beach. I guess there are neighbors somewhere but one is unaware of them. The house is sparkling clean and it's obvious the owners take the extra step to make sure their guests are happy. I've rented on the coast for 30 years and never found such great value at the rates the owners charge. They are easy people to work with and it's pretty obvious they want you to have a good time. The only downside is leaving. You'll be planning a return trip on the way home.

"A New World" exceeded our expectations. The house was beautiful and comfortable with exceptional furnishings. The ocean view was captivating both from the house and the hot tub. While conveniently located close to downtown Fort Bragg, the house is quietly situated off of Highway 1. Expect to see wild turkey and deer roaming around the yard! This is the most beautiful home with amazing ocean views. We never wanted to leave the house because it was much better to just stay in, relax, and take in the surroundings. It was fun to watch the wildlife (birds, turkeys, deer) right outside the big picture windows. The guest rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds are extrememly comfortable. We highly recommend renting this beautiful vacation home in Ft. Bragg. You would not find one that is better that this!

I actually would visit this property as a little girl. This is the house my grandparents lived in and spent their "golden years" . The memories I have of the home are precious. I remember running down to the beach to collect Abalone shells with my dad. I can tell you that as a mother myself I would definitely recommend staying here. I look forward to bringing my kids here soon so that I can share with them all the wonderful times I had.
