Seashell: Comfortable2 BR Home Close to Gulf Beaches. Pets Ok
Year Purchased: 1998
Why the Owner Chose Englewood
We bought in Englewod as it is "Old" Florida, quiet and laid back, but close to everything. The beaches go for miles, and the flora and fauna are all about. Great parks and preserves. Kayaking and fishing in Lemon Bay. No high rises. Four of our friends from Chicago also bought houses there after staying with us, and our parents moved there to retire.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We are so close to everything needed for a great vacation. In the summer we walk the beaches on turtle patrol with a friend, and I usually go kayaking with a local group twice a week. The art scene is great with local art fairs. Lots of good music at local restaurants and bars. The house is easy to maintain. We like the king bed and the convenient kitchen. We have a Calamundron Orange tree in the yard. The small bitter oranges make great jelly.
Great beach with restrooms and pay parking. Restaurants, bars and beach shops close by.
Bait and fishing gear available. Rent Kayaks and Jetboats. Fishing piers across the road.
Main street of Olde Englewood. Boutiques, bars and restaurantes, library, Bank of America, art galleries.
Owner's Map of Englewood
I am a retired tour operator executive, and have travelled extensively in the Caribbean and Mexico. I was born in England and lived in Canada before moving to the US in 1981. My wife Cheri, from Wisconsin, is a school nurse in Glenview IL, a suburb of Chicago so we spend the school breaks in Englewoood, where we have four rental properties, and our home which we also rent from time to time.

12/23/06-1/1/07 We were blessed with the opportunity to take a family vacation (one we had not had in 10+ yrs)and feel doubly blessed that we came across Alec's house to rent! The house was absolutely perfect for us. Everything we needed was right there. The house is charming, decorated in traditional Floridian flair and definitely makes you feel at home. The location in Englewood is perfect for exploring the Southern gulf coast. We traveled up to Sarasota and also down to Ft. Myers, Sanibel and Captiva. These were day trips without too much driving. All in all we were extremely pleased with our stay and we will definitely be back! Thanks Alec!

We enjoyed our month stay in Englewood. The area is quiet, but had everything that we enjoy. The golf and beaches were great. The home we stayed in was neat, CLEAN, and very well equipped. I kept thinking I could easily entertain with such a well equipped kitchen. Would reccommed to our family and friends. Alec supplied lots of information concerning the area which we found helpful.

We had a wonderful time away from the winter and missed the snow of the century. At time at this home was very relaxing and the best way to spend the winter. The is convenient to everything in Englewood. We think Englewood is the best kept secret on the FL west coast. Thanks for a wonderful time, hope we can do it again.

We thoroughly enjoyed spending the month of April, 2005 in Englewood, Florida. The weather was perfect everyday. We appreciated the convenient location of the house to shopping, beaches, restaurants, etc. The house was clean, well-furnished, comfortable and located in a quiet and safe area. It was a pleasure to have our two schnauzers with us on vacation and Alex was very accomodating as a landlord. He phoned upon our arrival to ensure that everything was satisfactory. Englewood is a beautiful and unspoiled area. It was wonderful to walk on beaches that were natural and not over-developed and commercial. We would love to return to Englewood next year for longer.

We stayed at Alex's rental on Englewood St. and found it wonderfully equiped with all of the comforts of home. Alex was very accomodating and simply a pleasure to deal with. The place was very clean, reasonably priced, in a quiet, safe neighborhood, not far from the beach, and very comfortable. We would highly recommend the home to others who are looking for a simple, clean, quiet and relaxing place to get away.

This was a wonderful place to stay. It was so well equipped that every time we reached for something it was already there. It is done in a very charming Florida style and the location is excellent. I really enjoyed meeting Alec and Cheri as well. I grew up in Englewood and there are a lot of wonderful things to do and much rest to be had there.

We were relocating and needed to find a furnished place to rent while we looked at houses to buy in the area. This house suited us perfectly because it was in a quiet neighborhood, convenient to everything, not too expensive, and would accept pets. Everything worked out wonderfully and the owner is so nice to work with, too!
