Totally restored 1928 Craftsman Lodge on Big McKenzie Lake, prime 1200+ acre lake. This is a gem if you want to enjoy a stay on a premier lake in NW Wisconsin. Light House Lodge is one of the earliest large vacation residences built on this lake by 'well-to-do' Chicago natives in the late 1920s. We have 220 ft of lake shore, and views of the lake from front and west side of the Lodge. The Lodge sits close to the lake on top of a hill, and it is a climb down to the Lake and back up to the Lodge. We have approximately 2 acres of land, the majority of the land is the 'backyard' of the Lodge, great for a softball game. And we've kept the original fencing around it all. You'll enjoy the new patio and landscaping looking over both the lake and the yard as well as the large firepit.
The Lodge is newly restored throughout, we preserved original woodwork and floors throughout and the lake stone fireplace in the living room. The large enclosed porch overlooking the lake is a favorite spot for morning coffee, lunch, and evening cocktails. We hope you will enjoy the combination of restored elements with the comfort of the new kitchen and baths. If you don't wish to stay in for your own meals, McKenzie Landing restaurant and bar are in VERY short walking distance (just down the hill) for a wonderful full dining experience. Multiple other venues are also nearby, from pizza delivery to full dining.
We have a large dock system with plenty of room for your boat, there is local boat rental available for those that wish to rent a boat.
McKenzie Lake is a 1200+ acre lake great for year-round lake activities. In the winter, snowmobiling , cross-country skiing, eagle watching, ice-fishing and attending local events are wonderful.

Our family of ten adults and three little ones thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lighthouse Lodge. The Lodge is beautiful with a wonderful mixture of log cabin beauty and updated features and decor. We enjoyed seeing old photographs and memorbila scattered throughout. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather and so were able to cross country ski on the lake, hike in the area and sit out by the bonfire under some amazing blue skys in the afternoon and also into the evening with a starlit sky. We were able to relax, spread out and play games in the roomy living area and have a puzzle going in a very comfy sitting room off the dining room, which we were pleasantly surprised with as it wasn't featured in the photo display. The beautiful, fully equipped kitchen became a busy focal point as we cooked all our meals there. Because of the winter temperature we did experience a variety of temps throughout the lodge, especially for sleeping. So good to be flexible with who prefers a cooler sleeping room, as in the downstairs bedrooms, and warmer in the upstairs. Having the fire place going indoors was a wonderful addition for ambiance plus warmth during the day. Playing and working together was an incredible opportunity for our family as, like most folks, we are all so very busy in our "normal" routine of life and don't get such an extended time together. Lighthouse Lodge was truly a gift to us and we are eager to return. Thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous get-a-way with our family.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family was at the Lighthouse Lodge for an extended weekend and we had a perfect vacation. There were 14 of us, 8 adults and 6 kids ranging in age from 2-14. We had plenty of room for sleeping eating, playing games and a movie or two. We went boating on Big McKenzie, canoeing on the Namekagon River and played lawn games on the well maintained lawn. The fire pit was large enough to seat all of us for a dessert of s'mores and stories around the campfire. The lodge was clean and well maintained, the beds comfortable, and the 1928 atmosphere was wonderful! It was a perfect spot for a family vacation!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

we had 12 people stay at the lodge-5 adults and 7 children. we were never crowded when rainy weather struck. the lodge was beautiful-completly updated with modern amenities while keeping the character of an older home. the lodge is located about 20 minutes from spooner, 20 minutes from trego (the namekogen river is perfect for canoeing!), and 90 minutes from duluth. the kids caught a ton of fish off the dock, even a few keepers! we have already booked for next year!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
