Downtown is just 3 or 4 minutes away. Yes, you can walk but biking/bus/cab/car is probably more likely.
The best part about this cottage (on the lovely half acre property we call Verde Camp) is the old Austin feel that's getting harder and harder to find in downtown Austin. The houses on this half acre of land dates back to the 1930's. The cottages have recently been remodeled inside and out with new plumbing, walls, wiring, and paint.
The birds chirp in the morning; the squirrels dance in the shady canopy from two 200 year-old oak trees; church bells can be heard in the distance at noon. It's a pretty nice spot year round.
Shopping:
However, this area is happening. Not 3 blocks away is what NPR recently called 'the coolest street in America' (for better or for worse! Ha). Find some vintage vinyl; Peruse the best thrift shops; A straight razor shave; Folk art galleries; or find a cool old sign.
Restaurants / Cafes / Bars:
Continental Club is 2 1/2 blocks away. The best of the best restaurants. Lots of veggie options, live music, clubs, Art houses, theater.
Walk or bike to Lady Bird Lake (Town Lake) and get some exercise. Hit downtown, 6th Street, UT Longhorn games, kayaking/canoeing, and you know you want some barbecue and a beer. It's all just minutes away.
Catch the bus or rent a bike or scooter to almost anywhere. Or, hey just chill. Watch cables/dvds on the 37" flat screen. Use the WiFi to surf the web. Get some work done. Rest, relax, get a massage, take a walk, order some food. Whatever. Once you stay, I know you'll come back.

- Noise. We just ask that you be respectful. We have a 'No Noise' policy that is strictly enforced after 10 PM. Loud or obnoxious behavior will not be tolerated.

We allow well behaved pets with deposits. We do have a dog run on the property, but the property is not fully fenced.

We came here for a conference and had the absolute best time. It's fantastically close to everything you'd want to do- and eat- in Austin. The novel setup feels homey, like having your own bungalow in the best neighborhood in town. We fell in love with the rooster and the good vibes at Verde Camp, and even composed a musical on the spot. Not to be missed!

We rented both the 2bedroom and 1bedroom. Both were fantastic! Our host was fantastic and the cottages were outfitted with everything we could have needed. The location is great - on a quiet residential street about 5 minute walk to S. Congress and 20min walk to downtown. I honestly can't think of a single improvement and would definitely recommend camp verde!
