"Sunny Corners" is a delightful and restful cottage in the beautiful lower Berkshire Hills of Litchfield County. Located 100 yards down the road from extensive apple and pear orchards, Sunny Corners nestles in former rolling pastures surrounded by two hundred year old stone walls and framed by beautiful mature trees. Just minutes from Washington Depot, the Cottage offers complete privacy with easy access to numerous local outdoor attractions such as Lake Waramaug.

The Cottage was completely renovated and decorated by the designer/owner in 2008 with a delightfully eclectic mix of overstuffed furniture, linens from her line of fine bedding, decorative pillows, curtains and rugs, plus an extensive collection of paintings, folk art, and antiques. It creates a truly relaxing and inviting atmosphere where one feels "at home" away from home. The stainless steel and Corian kitchen is large with 2 ovens, a large wall microwave, plenty of cooking gear and large prep space. The adjacent dining area easily fits 6-8. Antique armoires are furnished in every room, with 5 TVs and 5 phones throughout the house (including the master bath).

The living room includes a wood burning fireplace with a gas fireplace in the master bedroom (that turns on and off with a switch next to the bed!, full C/A and overhead fans in each bedroom, study, and on the sleeping porch.

The master includes an en suite bathroom with beautiful double marble sink, double medicine cabinets, an armoire and heated tile floor.

There are four separate outdoor areas where individuals or groups can enjoy themselves:
(1) A private screened porch off the master bedroom with wicker furniture for four. The door from the porch to the second bedroom is invaluable for couples with a young child/children who wish to have privacy, yet instant access to their youngsters.

(2) There is a private walled garden off the study where small dogs or cats are completely safe to play and enjoy the outdoors. This garden provides a 19th Century cast iron and wood Victorian bench and chairs for four, a great retreat for coffee or quiet reading;

(3) a large raised deck off the kitchen/dining, living room and study with Adirondack chairs, 2 umbrellas, and a dining table for six.

(4) Or sit on the front covered porch with Twig rocking chair and large twig/root table for morning coffee or to watch the magnificent sunsets beyond the trees.

I love this area of CT. It is beautiful, rural countryside but has incredibly sophisticated things to do and buy, and restaurants to enjoy! And its close to my apt. in New York so that its a very easy commute.

The Unique Benefits of this House

I love nature and find it in abundance in this part of CT. If I want to take a solitary walk, its easy to walk around the apple and pear orchard steps away from the house. If I want to go swimming at Lake Waramaug, its a four-minute drive to the beach. If I want to go outside at night, I can see a clear and sparkling sky. If I want to see the latest art films and eat fine food, that is just a quick drive away. The people are generally kind, trusting and fun in CT. We don't worry about locking our cars when we go shopping. You can't ask for a better place to live!
