Thank you, Elenor and John, for a wonderful vacation. The house is beautiful, the scenes are amazing and your hospitality a joy. We hiked and ran around the mountains surrounding the house and we loved it. My Dad climbed for hours almost every day. The proximity to all the natural wonders is unbeatable. Horseback riding, Chico Hot Springs, walking and just hanging out and playing in the house - we loved all of it. The space was really perfect like so many others who have written in here. We would like to come back again, maybe this summer when we could do more outside, but even staying home was pretty great. ~ I (the grandfather) made it to the cave on Sphinx Mountain above our cabin. No bear - it's about 20 feet deep and the view from the top of that great rock formation is awesome. I went to the top four times. Hallelujah! Knees hurt but well worth it. About two hours to get there but worth every slide! The whole family had a great time and Sage is one good dog!
Owner response:Thank you, Hanna! It was great to meet you and your family and we're so happy you enjoyed Sphinx Mountain and the climb. Hope you can return this summer or fall and go for a soak in Boiling River! El & John

We thought that the cabin was perfect and the first day my eight year old kept running around saying how cool everything was and asking if we could live there forever because it was his dream home. My eleven year old and my sixteen year old also thought the cabin was incredible. We stayed there with my parents and my three kids. It was the perfect place to spend the Christmas holiday and the heated floors made everyone feel so cozy. The stained glass is just as beautiful as all of the reviews we had read. Yellowstone in winter was amazing and unique and we skied to Tower Falls and the upper loop at Mammoth. We also took a snow coach into Old Faithful which was really fun for everyone and got some amazing pictures of buffalo and elk. On the ski we even saw a badger! Being able to come home and have enough space for all seven of us and cook a great meal (we cooked a huge turkey dinner for Christmas) was priceless. We met John (the owner) and he was very nice. Our doggies enjoyed it as well and they were nice enough to let us bring more than one pup. Our only compliant was that we could not stay longer. Nobody wanted to go home and we thought that a week and a half would have been better than a week!
Owner response:We are so happy you and your family enjoyed your Christmas here at the cabin - it was a pleasure to have you. Thank you for the delicious molasses candy, it was such a wonderful treat! Hope you can come back soon and your beautiful dogs are more than welcome. El & John

August 23-26, 2011 Thank you for letting us stay here in your amazing house. Even though we have stayed here for a short time, I wish that I had come here earlier and we will come here in the future. The house is very beautiful, from the objects hanging on the walls to the stained glass windows, but I feel the best part of this is your hospitality including your dog Sage. All in all spending these four days in "the barn" has been superb and I hope more people will experience this. ~ Thank you so much for letting us stay in the house. It is very beautiful and the view is amazing too. Great time in Yellowstone - love the large herds of buffalo and I had a great time horseback riding. ~

What a wonderful time. So much to see but so little time. The space you provided after a day of hiking/sight seeing and bear watching was immensely relaxing and perfect for the 6 of us. The kids enjoyed the space and we really loved the back den for a few more minutes of sleep.

August 3-13, 2011 We had a great stay!!! Yellowstone was wonderful! We saw so many things we've never seen before. The animals were spectacular and the scenery was amazing. We did long hikes like the Beaver Ponds and Sheepeater Cliffs and picnicked on the hills watching the wild animals. It was so much fun! Our stay at the cabin was great. It was comfortable, clean and had an amazing view! I love the cabin and hope we can come back and stay again. It was a wonderful 10 days - also the stained glass is beautiful. Thanks ~ Dear El & John, Thanks so much for the use of this lovely cabin. We completely enjoyed our stay. We are returning the bear spray - thankfully unused! Again, our sincere thanks - we hope to return again!

August 2, 2011 ~ Our last day in Yellowstone and this beautiful home. We have enjoyed our week here tremendously. It was so nice to come back to this beautiful location at the end of a day of sightseeing. Watching the elk across the river in the morning, hearing the coyotes howl at night, watching thunderstorms roll in over the mountains...all of it was just spectacular. We drove the Beartooth Highway one day for killer scenery. Unfortunately, no bear sightings ... maybe today! Thank you so much for the hospitality. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return again in the future.

This property was even prettier in person! The photo's made us rent it, seeing it in person made us love it! The views are even more breathtaking in person. The property was spotless and had everything a guest could want. The owner was so helpful. We had a unique proplem when we arrived (not related to the property) and he helped us come up with a great solution! Because of him, we were able to enjoy our vacation without worries! I would highly recommend this property to anyone. In fact, I already have! If you visit Gardiner, don't miss this house and rafting on the Yellowstone River!

What a beautiful house - your stained glass artwork is amazing! We had a great time, very busy sightseeing in Yellowstone and a day trip to Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons - well worth the drive. We took the tram up to the top of Rendezvous Mountain and had a snowball fight in our flip flops! Horseback riding and whitewater rafting were also great adventures! We saw most of the wild animals but no wolves or bears - but they say always leave something to come back for! We also did four puzzles - three we brought from home and your eagle puzzle. Thanks for your hospitality! God bless~ PS: We recommend Yellowstone Raft Company - a great, friendly, skilled guide Alex (also from Wisconsin) for whitewater rafting. Also recommend ABO for horseback Riding - the Saddle and Paddle package worked out great for us.

Dear El and John, Our stay was fabulous! Montana is beautiful and so is your home - all the stained glass art is so pretty. We had lots of adventures in Yellowstone like hiking up a hill to see Grand Prismatic Springs in full glory, watching Old Faithful and seeing all the pools and geysers around it. We saw a cinnamon bear and a black bear running around but thankfully we weren't eaten by them. Lots of elk and buffalo too but no moose. Thank you for letting us stay at your wonderful home. PS: We finished the eagle puzzle.

The other reviews accurately highlight the many wonderful features of this home. The location is awesome, and our overall winter vacation experience was stellar! There were, however, minor shortcomings that we would have appreciated knowing. First, there is no access to the upstairs of the house; all the living space is on one floor, and the 3/4 bath would be small for a large group. Second, the house was not as clean as it should have been. There was clearly used soap in the shower, the dish drainer (there is no dishwasher) had a gray coating, the bar shelves and bedside lamps were thickly coated with dust, and pet hair was visible on the rugs. The dark shades on the bedside lamps precluded reading in bed, and the switch for the very bright overhead was across the room. Two of the three track bulbs over the chair in the living room were burned out. The sofa did not have lighting at all, and the only lighting in the tv room was a harsh overhead. Theinternet connection was iffy, even in the great room, the bedroom, and the kitchen, making it difficult to respond to business concerns. Maybe we're nitpicky, but these factors - particularly the cleanliness - definitely diminished the comfort of what is a beautiful home.
Owner response:Regarding the above comments, I'd like to clarify the following: 1) There is no access to the second story because it's not part of the rental property and it's not advertised anywhere as having two stories. The square footage that is mentioned in the listing applies to the first floor and is correct. 2) This vacation rental is advertised as having one bathroom. People can book it or not according to their preferences. This was a party of two and one bathroom was adequate for their use. It is also advertised as not having a dishwasher so they must not have paid attention to the details before they booked. 3) I had cleaned the home personally before the arrival of these guests. The rugs had been shampooed in December. The kitchen sink wasn't grey with dirt but it's stainless steel so that's why it looks grey - not because it's dirty. 4) There are two stained glass bedside lamps in the master bedroom and the fan light has four adjustable lights, two of which are pointed towards the bed for reading. 5) There was one track light out in the great room out od 15 track lights. My husband went to check on the guests after their arrival and they could have commented that a light was out, and he would have replaced it right away. All ceiling lights are adjustable so they didn't have to be too bright or too dim. This also goes for the lights in the TV room. 6) I checked on the high speed internet in all the rooms and it worked fine. I am not sure what the problem was. However, we are up in the mountains so access may not be as perfect as in the city. In conclusion, I am disappointed that these guests didn't communicate with us when we asked if everything was okay. We could have addressed their concerns at that time. Our hope is they return to Yellowstone Country and enjoy it's splendor. El & John Graff, Owners

September 9-19, 2010 WOW... What a beautiful place you have built, created and maintained! Thank you for sharing your imagination and this grand view of the valley with us - we really appreciate all of it. We spent 10 days here but way too short to do what we wanted to do! I was hoping to take a class and see how you make stained glass or pottery but we so quickly ran out of time. On the bright side we got to see so many cool wild animals. Besides the bald eagles and the grizzlies, on our very last hike yesterday in the park we also saw a big black wolf!! He was just 100 feet from us. These memories will be with us forever and so will the happy moments our family got to experience while staying in this 'Red Barn!' Again, thank you very much for everything. PS: I finally had a chance to visit Yellowstone Gallery (in Gardiner) and gladly picked up a beautiful (stained glass) dragonfly Elenor created. It will be cherished in our home for years to come. Most sincerely,

July 25-31, 2010 I loved this house. I just wish that we could have seem your art room because you make great decorations for the house. My favorite is the wolf at the top left window in the living room! Ryann Rainville I am awfully sad to have to leave tomorrow. We have to go back to boring old Yakima, WA. I loved seeing all of the animals in and out of the park! We were all very disappointed to not see any wolves besides caged up ones at the Wolf and Grizzly Discovery Center. Your home is very beautiful. The beds and couches were very comfy. Two days ago I was playing and dropped the fire extinguisher on my foot and left a huge bump and many bruises. But everything is really great here. Thank you so much. Rebecca Rainville We leave early tomorrow and I am very sad to go! The house, Yellowstone, people, animals and everything else was great. You guys are obviously very talented. While in the park we attempted to count the wildlife - it came to about eight sheep, six bears, four wolves, two coyotes, fourteen pronghorn and many, many, many bison, elk and deer. It was such a great experience and I loved everything (except the sulfur smells). Thanx for absolutely everything! Rachel Rainville Today is our last day here and we have thoroughly enjoyed our week here - the house was just right and it was nice to have a comfy and relaxing couch to lounge on after a long day at the park! Beds were cozy - I have decided to buy a ceiling fan when I get home to install in our bedroom! Love all the stone and tile work too. The park was fun - saw just about everything as far as animals go. One of our favorite sights was definitely Grand Prismatic Spring! Please tell Kim thanks for the stories! (Kim is the wrangler who rents out downstairs - takes folks on long pack trips all summer/quite a character.)

This was our first family vacation and I don't think we could have picked a better place! We are "dog" people and enjoyed them when they came over to visit with us. What a wonderful gift to be blessed with the ability to create such beautiful stained glass artwork. Thank you so much for allowing us to make this our home away from home! Penny, Ron, Brian, Greg, Kinsey, Phoenix and Sarah I love this house, it is awesome. When I first came here I thought I was at a famous person's house.
