Perfect location for a family vacation!

Our family of four had a wonderful spring holiday in this cabin. We are big fans of VRBO, and we are pleased to give this rental top marks for comfort, value and location. The owners were very courteous and friendly. Everything was exactly as described - exceptionally clean, spacious, and well-equipped for families. Rain or shine, inside or outside, there is plenty of space to sit back enjoy the beauty of the Puget Sound. If you choose to venture out, the cabin is close to many area attractions. We visited Gig Harbor, took the ferry to Vashon, saw the Museum of Glass, and enjoyed Point Defiance Park & Zoo in Tacoma. We also collected treasures on the beach, read books, played games and savored some precious down time. Altogether, it was a wonderful week. We would be happy to recommend this rental to others - especially families with children. This cabin is a gem, and we hope to visit again soon!!

Perfect stay!

We stayed at the Gone Fishin' Cabin with our 3 young children and a friend for 4 nights in February and it was just perfect. The cabin is incredibly cozy and comfortable, the fireplace is ideal, the view is mesmerizing. My children were thrilled with the kids' bedroom with the fun bunkbeds and the toys. They were happy and occupied every minute we were there. The cabin is in the perfect location to be able to get in to Seattle very easily but it's away from the hustle and bustle, so you can return at the end of a crazy day in the city and just relax in front of the fire with your view of the water. Kim is incredibly helpful and accomodating also. I definitely recommend this cabin. It is an excellent deal for the money and we will be returning.

Our visit to the cabin

Our family had a wonderful time at the gone fishin cabin! It was just as billed, very clean and well stocked for our visit. We had everything that we needed for a most comfortable vacation. Our son and his young family came everyday to enjoy the beach and all the toys that were provided for the children. Our 2 1/2 year old grandson especially liked the Thomas Trains! We hated to leave and definitely want to return.

We enjoyed our stay at the Gone Fishing Cabin. The accomodations were very comfortable and the view of the Puget Sound was spectacular! The playground and fire pit were put to good use by our family and we would not hesitate to stay at the cabin should our travels take us to the area again. We highly recommend it.

Gone Fishin' Cabin

Guest: Gino (Grand Junction, Colorado USA)
Date of Stay: 07/06/11 Review Submitted: 07/18/11

My family and I recently spent 8 wonderful days at Gone Fishin' Cabin. The Cabin's amenities were as described and the website photos were very accurate. It was very clean and there were plenty of toys and activities for the children to play with. The view from the deck is spectacular and wildlife abundant. If your looking for a sea side getaway to relax and unwind this is the place for you. The owners Kim and Arne were more than accommodating and made themselves available from day one. Bring your own crab trap and pot to cook them in. We caught crab every evening. We will be back very soon!

Wonderful Get Away Place-Very restful

Guest: Diane (Mammoth Lakes,Ca.)
Date of Stay: 05/09/11 Review Submitted: 05/29/11

This was our first visit to the cabin. Road down is curvy but easy to negotiate. Pictures are very accurate. Cabin is done in a charming nautical theme. It was very comfortable, inviting, and exceptionally clean. The kitchen was well equipped and complete. We were one of the first people to use the "new" bathroom. It was cute, colorful, and all new. The whimsical fish tiles in the shower were fun to look at. Cabin heats easily with "wood stove looking" gas heater. Back deck is wonderful to relax on watching boats go by. The ferry even went by on it's way to Tacoma for repairs. We look forward to going again.

Very, Very Relaxing

Guest: Jeff (Tacoma, WA)
Date of Stay: 04/29/11 Review Submitted: 05/12/11

The cabin is less than an hour from our home but after being there a short time the city seemed far, far away. The cabin has EVERYTHING you need, just bring food and clothes and be ready to relax and explore. A guest's guide book done by Kim & Arne shows you places to visit, amenities in the house and surrounding area, and really helps you settle in and feel at home. The new shower is sparkling and very inviting. There are big grocery stores not too far away in Gig Harbor, as well as good restaurants and interesting shops, but still you feel like you're in a remote spot once you're back at the cabin. Pictures shown here are exactly what the cabin looks like inside and out. Kim went out of her way to make us feel welcome and our stay enjoyable, and she and Arne are fantastic hosts. We will definitely come again and look forward to it!

Cute cabin with a beautiful view, great for kids

Date of Stay: 12/18/10 Review Submitted: 12/23/10

The gone fishin' cabin is very cute and clean with a wonderful view of the water from the living, dining and kitchen area. It was perfect for our family's holiday getaway. The road down to the cabin is a bit windy and not well lit so we recommend trying to find the cabin during daylight. We tried restaurants and checked out shops on the Gig Harbor waterfront and took the ferry to Vashon Island. A newer shopping area in Gig Harbor about 20 minutes away also allowed us to see a movie. The cabin is great for kids with an open floorplan, bunk beds in one bedroom, and lots of toys. They even put up a Christmas tree and decorated for the holidays for a nice touch during our stay.

Wonderful!

Had a wonderful few days at the Gone Fishing Cabin. Sitting right on the water, the views are amazing. Access to the cabin involves some twisty roads, but not too bad. We saw a few sea lions, fishing boats, and what appeared to be a golden eagle or osprey - far bigger than a hawk. Cabing was largely clean and quite comfortable. Just perfect for two adults and a couple of kids. We felt right at home! Beds were great. Living room furntiture was fine. Deck is beautiful and really adds to the house. Only reason I can't give it 5 stars is the shower. It's pretty rough. No bath tub, which isn't a huge deal unless you have young kids to bathe. But, the shower is ancient. You kinda feel like you want to tip-toe into it. It works, just not the bright, shiny clean feeling you want.

Owner response:Thanks so much for your feedback. We're glad you've enjoyed your stay at the cabin. The waterfront is ideal. We also appreciate your feedback about the shower. We've asked our housekeeper to ensure it's spotless. We're also in the process of getting it updated this winter. For your next visit, it will be newly tiled!

It was a great vacation! Everything from beachcombing to watching a seal spend hours sunbathing on the back of a neighbors boat. We had warm sunny weather and damp gray weather and it didn't change anything. Our needs were well met and we would go back again. Thanks for the memorable vacation.

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin this summer, and are eager to plan our next visit. The area is private and lovely, and the cabin is clean and well-equipped. We had both a small child and a senior in our group, and both loved it. The moon over the water was just lovely! We enjoyed beach walks, roasting marshmallows in the fire pit, and watching birds and sea lions. There are nearby parks for hiking, and everything one could need for a relaxing, comfortable stay. The owners are very gracious, organized and communicative. This cabin comes highly recommended!

Excellent Cabin

Date of Stay: 08/07/10 Review Submitted: 08/12/10

I like this cabin and I will definitely go again. Here are the things we like: 1. Good crab catching experience on the deck, no licnese needed. 2. Plenty of supplies. 3. Plenty of toys indoor and outdoor - kept the kids busy. 4. Clean and neat. 5. Many nearby places for clam and oyster fishing. 6. Great price. 7. Owner refunded our security deposit very quickly (unlike the other one I have been waiting for 15 days without a word). 8. Good view from living room although that was not my top priority. One recommendation: if only there is a crab pot/trap in the house...

Cute property with ocean theme and hues. Property is just as it appears in the listing. Owners were very responsive and we would certainly recommend the property. Located perfectly for trips to the Pacific shore, Olympic Forest or Seattle area. Beds were cozy and our kids loved an assortment of art stuff/toys hidden in their room. Low tide uncovered some hidden ocean treasures. Property is very comfortable with gorgeous view of the bay. ONLY recommendation is that a little more cleaning go into the bathroom.

I spent the week of April 4th here with my two kids. We had a wonderful time and Kim and Arne bent over backward to take care of our every need! The house was very clean and had everything we needed for a warm, cozy week watching the boats, the seals and the duck cruise by. The firepit and fishing gear got their share of use as well! There is plenty of dining and recreation options close-by which can come in handy. A great place to use as a base for exploring or to just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. I'd highly recommend staying here to everyone. I plan on coming back in the near future!

Gone Fishin' is a great find. Beautiful setting and the cabin is CLEAN. It is also one of the most well-equipped cabins i've ever rented. It was nice having deck furniture out in the winter (you never know!) and the gas woodstove was cozy. We missed having a way to watch movies (don't care about TV). A lovely getaway and we hope to return!

My daughters and I spent 4 nights over Thanksgiving in this lovely retreat. After arriving well after dark on a rainy Thanksgiving night, what a treat to come into such a warm and welcoming haven. The deck on the water is awesome - I spent the first morning entirely on the deck, watching the Sound move from sleep and darkness to enjoying the sunrise and the cacophany of the wildlife as the world woke up. Very nice indeed! Thanks, Kim and Arne - as one of my daughters lives in Tacome, we'll be back!

We were at the Gone Fishing Cabin for 3 nights and wished it had been a few more. The feeling when you first arrive is indiscribable. What a really neat place and such nice people to rent from. It is a real get away from it all and forget some of the cares of life. We did miss having TV as my wife has alzheimers and can't play games very well, but I did help her with Yahtzee and she did well. Definitely recommend it and be back we sincerely hope. Thanks Kim and Arne

We stayed at Gone Fishin' cabin for four nights over Labor Day weekend. We had a fantastic time fishing, playing on the beach and playing board games. The cabin kitchen is very well stocked and the location is close to Gig Harbor yet still secluded with a private beach. We also enjoyed the views from the deck and saw the most beautiful double rainbow over the water on our last day. Loved it!

We just returned from our week at Gone Fishin'. What a fun and relaxing time we had! Our son and daughter-in-law were planning on staying for three nights, but when they got back to Seattle, they missed the cabin and returned for two more nights. It was so relaxing watching the water traffic and the otters and seals. It was perfect for our 22 month old grandchild to play on the "big toy" and the marvelous deck. We hope to return soon. Lynn

What a nice place to relax and enjoy some beautiful scenery and of course the sound. The cabin is very comfortable, peaceful and well appointed. Gig Harbor is only 10-15 minutes away, so there is plenty of places to dine, shop or sightsee if that is what you want. Otherwise you can just sit back, take long walks, and enjoy some solitude. We will definatley be back!

My family and I are extremely busy and needed time and a place to just relax to forget the outside world for a little while. This cabin definitely provided this isolation for us. The location is beautifully situated on the water and ensured our leisure time with extraordinary views of wildlife and a variety of watercraft. The cabin itself is excellently laid out in an open air feeling which provided easily for my family to cook meals together as well as play games in the evening after the sun had gone down. We definitely are planning an additional stay at this amazing cabin.

We had a wonderful time here. The cabin is secluded, quiet, and right on the water. We went to Point Defiance Zoo one day and drove to Penrose Point State Park another. We bought some fresh Oysters on our last night and BBQ'd them and enjoyed them from this fabulous deck. I would recommend this cabin, it's the perfect location to relax and re-charge.

We were looking for a nice place to chill and to do nothing and believe me it is a good thing sometime to do nothing for a while, for a few days...Some friends of ours had stay at this cabin before and suggested that we gave it a shot...we went for it and so Glad that we did...the deck is to die for...very large and has an awsome view...We Texan like to bar-b-cue, and we sure did with lots of fresh air and awsome view as well...we also went to town for a quick shopping trip ....the town had unique character, which we also liked. If you are looking for a place to do the wild and crazy things then this is not a place for you, but if you are looking for a place to recharge, to spend time with family, to collect yourself, to relax and to leave hectic life behind for a while like we did..then this is it...honestly. Yes, we will most certainly come back again and with friends for Sure!... One happy Texas family vacationing in Seatle coast.
