'Under the Tybee Sun' is a 5 minute walk to the family friendly 7th Street Beach. 1.5 blocks to the beach. Our location in the desirable and ever so quiet mid-island neighborhood makes sitting in a rocker on the screened-in front porch a delight. This is also the main bike riding street on Tybee and you'll see more bike riders then cars on 2nd Ave!

Private pool!!! Kids love the petite pool...and adults love the adjacent screened -in back porch for watching them. Adults and children alike love the jetted spa seating for 4. One of our favorite additions is a wonderful spacious sandroom/changingroom with outside entrance and with an adjacent outside shower with hot and cold running water.
Screened porches- not one but two! There is a screened porch on the front of the home for people watching and enjoying the rocking chairs AND a screened porch in the back of the home and view of the pool. Outdoor seating areas on the deck and patio on the back as well.
For trips to the beach, we have a cart...and for bike riding we have a fun bicycle built for two. The fenced in backyard has a patio area with both gas and charcoal grills.
Off Parking is provided for 5 cars and or a boat or even small RV.
Inside, our kitchen is fully equipped and the dining area is large and open. There are two bedrooms downstairs: the Master with a huge private bath and another bedroom and bath. Upstairs and private are a full bath and a bedroom with a king bed and another bedroom with full bed and sitting/child sleeping area.
Added plus- all bedrooms have flat screen TVs and DVD players. The living room features a wall mounted 42' flat screen TV with DVD, a CD player. There is also complimentary WiFi and DSL.
The biggest decision you'll face will be where to enjoy your morning coffee...front or back screened-in porch, sun porch, back patio, pool, family living area??
If you are bringing a very large family or several groups of people, directly across the Street is our other Cottage, 'A Mermaid's Tale' which is also completely renovated this year and was featured on the 2008 Tybee Tour of Homes. Looking for a mountain visit? Besides Tybee, our other favorite place is our Mountain House located on the Highlands of the Roan (1.5 miles from the Appalachian Trail) in North East Tennessee. We support Sea Turtles in Georgia and around the world. The Tybee Sea Turtle Project has been working very hard to increase the number of loggerhead sea turtle nests. 2012 was a record-breaking year in large part because of our successful 'Lights Out For Sea Turtles' education we've helped sponsor. All our homes feature a starter supply of Mermaid Morning Bliss coffee which supports the sea turtle projects. This coffee is 100% organic Columbian craft-brewed coffee; again, created just for us!

Carol was amazing and helped me plan my trip every step of the way - my sisters and I had a fabulous long weekend with my mom to celebrate her 75th birthday and also the last of her chemo treatments. Carol and Diane made it all possible with advise, encouragement and also served as our own personal concierge service. These ladies know the area and the ins and outs and really bent over backwards to make this trip one of the best I have ever had! House was very nicely decorated. Loved the Christmas decorations. It made the cottage almost as nice as being home for Christmas. Beds were very comfortable. Kitchen was nicely appointed. The house was terrific as always. We were most impressed with the quick service from Mermaid Cottages when our range went out while preparing breakfast. Within fifteen minutes someone was there to fix the problem. The next day the owners had a brand new range delivered... just in case! That's why we always stay with Mermaid Cottages. Gathered family from CA,IL,GA,for a 2 week event. OUR BEACH RETREAT was perfect. Casual decor and easy living concept made us feel at home. Early mornings sitting in pool drinking coffee was a wonderful way to start the day. The addition of another MERMAID rental across the street was wonderful. 5 stars to all the Mermaids! Our daughter and granddaughter went with us from Virginia, and our son and his family who live in Florida met us there. There were 8 of us, and the house was spacious enough to accomodate us all comfortably and to give each of us a quiet place to be alone to read, rest, nap, meditate or just be still and enjoy the ambiance. The beach was wonderful! It was just a short easy walk away with a lovely deck at the top of the dunes walk and a porch swing just past the dunes to sit and enjoy nature and people watching. The beach was clean with soft sand, gentle waves and lots of room for building sand castles, sun bathing, napping under the umbrellas and flying our kites. There were lots of sites to see and places to go on Tybee Isand and in Savannah. Something for everyone -- Just not enough time for anyone! WE LOVED IT!Did you find this review helpful?
