This is an elegant home with unique architecture, beautiful woodwork, roomy spaces, gourmet kitchen, private baths, and an incredible pool and grounds. We met the owners and found them to be exceptionally welcoming and gracious. The home is close enough to town to be secluded yet within a short drive to everything of interest. We were only able to stay there for two days but would have been very happy to stay longer. La Fortuna is charming and serves as a gateway to a wide array of adventures. We found great restaurants, and we enjoyed canyoning, hiking trails to waterfalls, high bridges tour through mountain forests, and a wonderful hot springs close by. The property is managed by a competent and friendly young woman who was extremely helpful and provided many suggestions and recommendations that enhanced our experience. We stayed in four VRBO rentals during our two weeks in CR. This was the most exceptional of the four. We would definitely recommend this home to friends and relatives.

First off, the pictures do not do this house are the property justice. We were expecting a nice house with a nice yard but this was much nicer than even we were expecting. The owner and property manager are fabulous. The yard is filled with all kinds of beautiful native trees with birds and even an igwana or 2 at times. Very comfortable, very secluded, very safe. I would stay here again without hesitation.

We (three couples) stayed at this house for three nights and loved it. The pictures truley show exactly what you get, and the price very reasonable. The location was perfect to get to all the activities in La Fortuna and then to have such a nice place to come back to after a day of adventure was great. The rental agent and homeowner were both very nice and extremely helpful. This was my first experience renting off VRBO and it could not have gone better.

First off, the house is absolutely gorgeous. 4 big bedrooms, 2 big washrooms. Perfect for 6 adults or 4 adults and 4 kids. Quiet, secluded and the grounds are immaculate. Sugar cane, coconuts, star fruit, oranges, etc all right on the property. Inside, the house is beautiful. Kitchen and dining areas are huge and modern. Nice TV and stereo system. Internet worked well but wireless was not working. Location wise, it is good. About 5 minutes from the centre of La Fortuna, east of town (away from the volcano) which seems quieter. Definitely need a car, specifically a 4x4 as the driveway in is muddy and bumpy - kinda like everywhere in Costa Rica! But a very handy location and extremely peaceful. Really felt like we were in Costa Rica and not some generic villa complex. Only complaint was that the linens and couch were very musty. It was very rainy when we were there so everything was damp and wouldn't dry out. There is no dryer so drying your stuff can be a challenge. We used hair dryers. If you are picky with towels and sheets, bring your own. But other than that, it was spectacular. We would stay here again if we ever make it back to Arenal/La Fortuna (and I hope we do!!)

the property and house are absolutely beautiful, however the owner lives there so he is very VERY protective of the place. Prepare to clean up very thoroughly after yourself and whatever you do, do NOT track any water into the house because the wood is very delicate. It felt strange staying there as we felt we were intruding on someone else's home. Also kind of scary at night, as the fencing isn't flush and it's very isolated. Great for a romantic retreat
