Welcome to Cuesta Cottage! We hope you enjoy all that the Central Coast has to offer while staying in our cozy, relaxing house. Los Osos is off the beaten path: quiet and peaceful with access to it all.
From Cuesta Cottage you can walk to the edge of Morro Bay's water, just one half block away. Bring lawn chairs out for the sunset or sit at the picnic bench among the local's kayaks and sail boats.
Watch pelicans and terns dive right in front of you at low tide or enjoy the fullness of the bay at high tide. The cottage has a private front patio with a chiminea to warm and romance you and a side patio with a gas barbecue to grill on. Because it is so tranquil at night, you can hear the ocean.
Other short walks from the cottage include the Sea Pines Golf Course and its clubhouse cafe (2 blocks away), Cuesta-by-the-Sea boat inlet (2 blocks in the other direction), Monarch Grove where monarch butterflies overwinter (10 minutes), the Sweet Springs Nature Preserve boardwalk on the bay (15 minutes), and Baywood Park Pier with its restaurants and espresso bars (a 30 minute walk). Los Osos Elfin Forest also has boardwalks with nice lookouts just above the bay.
Montana de Oro State Park is 3 miles south as you drive past eucalyptus groves and spectacular views. Beaches, sand dunes, hikes, and wildlife abound there. The town of Morro Bay, its Natural History Museum, Morro Rock, the embarcadero, and the beach are a short 5 minute drive north.
Look for sea otters and seals in the bay by the rock and embarcadero. The aquarium and seashell shop are fun stops. Hearst Castle and the elephant seals sanctuary at Piedras Blancas is about 30 minutes north, and for wine lovers, there are many wineries to the east. Nearby Cal Poly San Luis Obispo offers a well-rounded performing arts program, and the town of San Luis Obispo is just beyond it.
There are many organic vegetable stands on Los Osos Valley Road right before you drive into town, so stock up on freshly picked fruits and vegetables and enjoy your stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cuesta Cottage which is just a short stroll to the bay and close to many wonderful activities. A bird watcher or kayaker's paradise! We wish we had a few more days to enjoy the area. The house was very clean and well appointed with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Be sure to visit the Morro Bay harbor area with art galleries and cute restaurants. We found a fish market and were able to buy some fresh fish and grill it that night!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend at Cuesta Cottage. It was a great location, comfortable home, and a perfect get away. We enjoyed walking to the bay and around the quiet neighborhood! We also appreciated all of the emails and efforts the owners made to make the house so welcoming. The home has a nice selection of books, DVDs, and music. This and other special touches made the house feel like home.

We recently were on a college road trip to tour Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and had the pleasure of staying at your house. We enjoyed our stay very much. The house had all the amenities we needed. Great patio for BBQ'ing. We love to hike and the surrounding area was beautiful. We would love to come back and stay again with the sole purpose of exploring the Los Osos area in more detail. Thanks again for great accomodations, and we hope to be back very soon.
