  My husband and I were looking for a quick, relaxing getaway and, as he would say, I am a little "high maintenance" when choosing vacation properties. This property was gorgeous, and obviously very well taken care of. It would be nice for a large family vacation, but it was also great for just the two of us. For a couple, everything you need is on the main floor (master bedroom suite, great room, kitchen, decks etc.). Very private and quiet, and many outdoor spaces to enjoy. As the others have said, the owner was very helpful. My only hesitation in writing this glowing review is that the property will be less available when we wish to return (and we do)!

  If u want an updated, well decorated, cozy home for a week or weekend, this place is perfect. Lazy Bear Lodge was the perfect house for our girls weekend getaway. We went skiing and tubing at Wisp, and loved having a jacuzzi to come back to. Had a great time celebrating my 30th Birthday. We had a lovely time, truly a beautiful home that I will come back to next year.

  Owner response: Lazy Bear's true lodge atmosphere and full stock of quality amenities is ready to warm and embrace any type of gathering. Groups of good friends or family reunions to honeymooners recount fond memories of their lodge experience. Although Deep Creek maintains a true non commercial small mountain town feel, many guests have said they are so content at the lodge, they had trouble leaving to enjoy it.   We really had a wonderful time in Deep Creek Lake. Everyone loved the house (such comfy beds!), the resort and the surrounding area and we hope to be back, maybe even in the warm weather. We were impressed by how well maintained all the roads were, despite the constant snowfall during our stay. Thank you for your help and for providing such a well stocked, comfortable home.

• Four Years Strong!

  This was our fourth year coming down to the Lazy Bear Lodge for our fall get away. It has become a tradition that our family and close friends have come to look forward to. Don't know how our trip would be if it was any where other than Lazy Bear! Once again the owner met all our needs and wants and stayed in contact with us to be sure everything was just perfect. The fireplace outside is our go-to place from our coffee at 6:30 a.m. to our night cap at midnight. Weather was generous for our 3 day golf outing, always coming "home" after a great round of fun. If you are looking for a place that is very much a cut above the rest, you will not be disappointed. Not only is this home warm accommodating, this owner treats her guests like none other. We are hoping to be able to deliver yet another excellent review on our Five Year Anniversary at Lazy Bear in 2013.

  We cannot thank you enough for sharing your gorgeous home. As soon as you open the door, there's a feeling of calm that takes over. It was the most relaxing time all of us had in a LONG time. We slept in, ate well, hiked to Swallow Falls (in the snow), melted away the aches and pains in the hot tub, and watched AWESOME football. Life doesn’t get much better than this! A couple of the girl's commented; "This property exceeds your expectations! The owner was very generous with the amenities and making your stay so comfortable. Fabulous memories and fantastic time had by all…wonderful privacy & peace…very scenic…the owner and realtor’s office were very accommodating and attentive to our needs.”

• Fun getaway

  My family (2 adults and 4 children) plus another couple and their child stayed at the Lazy Bear after Christmas. The house is beautiful, well decorated, clean and well appointed. Kitchen really does have every type of utensil you could use. Beds are comfy and plenty of room for all. Kids loved the pool table and air hockey table. We all loved the multiple fireplaces and hot tub. I did have a few minor concerns and one major concern. Minor - it does state in the description that you need to bring your own paper goods - no problem there but, also make sure you bring staples like dish soap and handsoap. These are not provided in any bathroom or the kitchen. There was thankfully, some dishwasher powder, but that was it. Same goes for laundry detergent which is not a big deal but I do think handsoap could be provided. Also, we specifically asked Coldwell Banker who is the realtor, if we needed a 4 wheel drive vehicle and we were told, "Absolutely not, the road coming in to the development is a bit steep but the driveway is flat." That is a complete untruth. The night we arrived, we received a couple of inches of snow and our Mazda CX9 was no good. It took us over an hour to get out of the driveway and development and when we did, we went straight to Enterprise Rent a Car in Oakland and rented a 4 wheel drive. If we hadn't, we would have spent our vacation at the house and we would have had 5 very unhappy children who were looking forward to skiing. We spent close to $300 on a rental and if we had known ahead of time, we would have rented the car in Baltimore before we came, and spent a lot less money. Lazy Bear currently is the only house down in the development so I guess that may be why we didn't see a plow - maybe it was because it wasn't a ton of snow, but it was enough to cause a nightmare getting out. Once we had the 4 wheel drive, we had no problem. Just please take this into consideration when renting. We also alerted Coldwell Banker to this issue since we don't want anyone else having to do what we did. The property is nicely situated between Wisp and Oakland and we would consider renting again.

We run everything through our realtor for your convenience and comfort during your stay. We are very sorry for the misunderstanding you had about the terrain. Four wheel drive is always recommended in the mountains during the winter months. Many roads in the area are steep and will require four wheel drive to access any rental property or attraction. Lazy Bear Lodge supplies many staple items like a first roll of TP, spices, coffee filters and sugars etc. With each inquiry, we do furnish a list of the extensive amount of extras the lodge supplies for your your convenience. Any thing that might be required of our guests is outlined in our lease agreement for your planning needs. Lazy Bear Lodge takes great pride in going above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible.

  We had a fantastic time at the Lazy Bear Lodge. Not only is the home spotless but it's beautiful. We had everything we needed for children of all ages and we enjoyed evenings around the fire pit. Thanks for renting out your beautiful home! We can't wait to come back.

  We had a GREAT weekend at the Lazy Bear Lodge! Family from Pittsburgh and DC came together to enjoy some quality time relaxing and having fun! The house was well equipped and the kids especially enjoyed the game room downstairs with the pool table, air hockey and stereo. We built several fires, cooked some great meals, enjoyed time in the hot tub, roasted marshmellows in the outdoor fireplace, played on the playset, hiked at Swallow Falls, shopped, etc etc etc. We hated to leave...especially our 5 year old who asked us to stopped the car as we were pulling out so that she could go back and hug the house! It was a great photo op! Hope to make it back again next year. Thanks for sharing your awesome home with us!

  This is our crew's third time to this home. (We call it 'our' home... but without the mortgage!) Our weekend went by in the blink of an eye - always a great sign of a great vacation. The home did not disappoint and the Wisp Golf Course was breathtaking with the peak leaf season! Again, the owner has become a friend that we have never had the pleasure of meeting ---but continues to make us feel our vacation is her priority. Dealing with so many people throughout a person's business life - that response is far and few between. We will of course be back.....same time, same golf course, same fun and memories.

  Just returned from the beautiful home known as Lazy Bear Lodge. This is our second visit to the home and once again we were not disappointed. Home is comfortable and accommodating. Weather was great and our golf rounds were enjoyable. Again, this owner is top of the line as far as caring for her renters and goes out of her way to make your experience great. Hopefully we will come in 2011 again. If you are looking for a home to rent in Deep Creek - look no further.
