About as close to perfect as you can get...

I have rented a lot of vacation homes in many states and this one is just about the best. If you are looking for adventure or just want to relax this is the place to be even if your traveling companions include the newer "grands", ages three and one, plus their parents and a friend. Had the older "grands" been with us also, ages fourteen and eighteen it still would have been perfect. It is spacious enough that all needs are easily met, including "having to bring work with you" that so many of us now do. This is not to say that this is a family only style rental, it is ideal also for adults only. With the central location, all of the year round activities the area is famous for are within an easy drive. This trip we did not do our usual antique/junk hunting but did try out the new water park where you can buy a day pass and it was great for the youngest to the oldest, but leaves you too tired to think about making dinner. Luckily there is a restaurant, Dana's, just down the road from the community that not only is happy to see you, and has good food but they will deliver for those not wanting to sit up straight. The lure of the outlet stores, which I believe is called "The Crossing", proved a little too strong and with deeply discounted prices we made a few more trips than we thought we would. Speaking of lures, I forgot to bring my fishing rod and one of the neighbors told me the lake was great fishing for bass - next time. I had planned on visiting the Casino which really is only ten minutes down the road but a warm fire and good few good books added to the comfort of the house was too much to overcome. You do need to bring your own sheets, pillow cases and towels - there are plenty of blankets but even with the washer and dryer it is easy to underestimate how many towels you will use but that is easily remedied at Wal-Mart where the bath towels are only $3 each. Food shopping is a bit more of a challenge, quality and price wise at both the Wal-Mart and I think the other local store was a Stop and Shop. The fresh veggies at the Wal-Mart were over-priced but if you went to their "organic" section, they were cheaper and fresher. Neither store is a store for fish lovers. I would suggest doing what I usually do but didn't this time, which is to ask a local where they shop. Would I recommend this property to a friend, or even more frightening to a relative? With no question about it, the answer is a yes. Dnynia

Unfortunately the weather was poor the weekend I rented this house but other than that it was a very good time. The house is very spacious and well lit and right next to the lake. The hot tub is wonderful and the living room is the same. The basement was not finished yet but that was the only downside to this home. Overall it was a great stay and i'd recommend it to any group, of all ages

Great house and great communication from the owners. We enjoyed the view from the hut tub, and pool table, and great room. Parking was ample and check-in / check-out was simple and easy. Looking forward to renting again next winter.

13 of us rented this property for a weekend ski trip, and we were extremely satisfied. The house was clean, and very well equipped when we arrived. It was a short drive to Camelback mountain and had numerous ameneties. The rental process was very efficient and the owners responded very promptly and thoroughly to any questions. This was the first time I've ever rented a house and I am still surprised as to how smooth the process was from start to finish. I will definitely look into this property again next winter. If not this property, then I will certainly reach out to Lisa & Jay (the owners/agents) for other options. I highly recommend this property.

the house was exactly what we expected - beautifully decorated, clean, and spacious. i particularly love the living room area with tall windows overlooking the lake. great view. the hot tub was a definite plus, especially after a long day of snowboarding/skiing. local activities (camelback, crossings outlet, restaurants, etc) are minutes away but if you prefer to just stay in, there's a plethora of great entertainment/activities within the property as well. my group and i are in our early to mid 20s and we had an amazing time. we would recommend this house to friends/family with young/elderly companions as easily as we would to those our own age. we'd definitely love to come back in the near future, potentially when it gets warmer, take advantage of the grill and lake activities.

We really enjoyed our stay at this house. I rented this along with my family with people ranging in ages 1-62 and everyone had a great time. There are close activities close by including the Mount Airy Casino less than 10 minutes away and Camelback Mountain for those who wanting to tube, ski, or snowboard. This worked out great because the kids wanted to go tubing and some of the adults wanted to relax and go to the casino. The only thing I would recommend is that you bring your own linens, unless you want to spend time doing laundry. Also bring extra towels for those wanting to use the hot tub. I would love to come back in the summer time and enjoy the lake.
