Our family (2 adults and 2 kids, ages 10, 7 plus our dog Bear) have stayed here multiple times. Great location, quiet, scenic and the home is well appointed and comfortable. The value is excellent and the owner is very accommodating and attends to the small details. Just perfectly suited for a relaxing stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: We appreciate it, we do try hard.

What a beautiful house, in a quiet spot! We enjoyed our visit to Waitsfield very much. The house was perfect and cozy and had everything we needed. Our dog loved running in the snow in the yard and meeting the neighbors' dogs. We enjoyed meeting the kind and interesting neighbors, including local farmers. It was a short trip to Sugarbush for skiing, and we had one day of cross country skiing down the road at Blueberry Lake. We came back in the evenings for homecooked meals in the well-appointed kitchen (only missing a coffee grinder! We always forget to bring ground coffee!). The gas woodburning stove is a nice touch we appreciated! This is the first time we've stayed in Waitsfield, instead of Warren, and it was fun to explore the back roads and charming farms of Waitsfield. We'll definitely be back again. Thanks, Sheila!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

What a great ski vacation! A perfect location for us with both downhill and cross country skiing only minutes away. Our sons loved Sugarbush and Mad River Glen, and we loved Ole's. Your house was well equipped so that we cooked all our dinners at the house. We brought our own paper products - but we were astonished at how well-stocked up you already were. Besides the skiing, we enjoyed poking around the shops in Waitsfield - especially the pottery place. We had wonderful lunches at Easy Street and the Warren Country Store. We look forward to a return trip - maybe even this season. Thanks for hosting us.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We had the most delightful experience in this cozy, clean, comfortable home. We highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get away, yet be close enough to the quaint towns of northern Vermont for exploration. Even the neighbor was exceedingly friendly when we locked ourselves out! The paths around the house, the beautiful deck, the roaring wood stove....all made for the most wonderful stay for our family of 6. Thank you!!Owner response: In case anyone's wondering, Judy is no relation to the owner. Thanks, Judy, for your kind words.

I stayed in the property with three friends for three nights in August 2012. Booking the house was a breeze, and Sheila got back in touch with me promptly to answer any questions I had about the arrangements. The house itself is very comfortable, and really provides everything you need to feel at home. The deck outside is great, and the grill promises you could have some pretty great BBQs there. I had one friend who needed to (unfortunately) catch-up on some work, and found the wireless internet to work without a problem. The hous is located a short drive from mainstreet, where there are a number of cafes and outdoor rental shops. As we spent most of our stay occupied with our friend's wedding in the area, so didn't have too much time to explore the area. But did enjoy one morning jog, and saw a fair number of friendly walkers/bikers on the wayRecommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children.

This property has everything, the owner thought to provide anything you needed. The property is secluded about half way up a mountain. The location is great close to Stowe for shopping and playing tourist, only about 45 mins. to Burlington and easy access to anything in VT. The home is everything you could need for a rental. It has a great backyard and wonderful deck with BBQ that we used extensively during our stay. We bought local beef and pork from a farm around the corner by putting money in a jar in the fridge and taking the meat we wanted. The owner came out and talked to us about his whole beef and dairy operation. Learned about the animals at the Von Trapp farm across the street and the new cheese operation. Great time, we would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a getaway. The landlord promptly returned our deposit and made everything very easy and flexible. We've vacationed in the area five summers, and this is the first home to which we want to return. It was perfect for us: two couples who like comfort, home-cooking and each other's company. We were even more pleased than we expected, having read the ad and reviews by previous renters. For example, a previous renter asked for more seating in the living room. There is now a leather couch, with left and right sides that recline, in addition to two leather chairs, one of which reclines. The bedroom with two longs twins is perfect for a couple that wants two soft beds, while the master bedroom is perfect for a couple that prefers a firm queen. The house has a lovely garden, its first floor stays cool in a heat wave since it is shaded, the neighbors seem far away but have friendly animals (dogs and horses) that are worth a visit (so bring carrots for the horses). The kitchen is open to the dining room (which looks out over the spacious deck), which in turn is open onto the living room. We enjoyed the great DVD collection and flat screen TV. I found everything I needed to cook blueberry pie (with whipped cream), Moroccan chicken stew, and honey-oat-walnut bread. The landlady has anticipated your every need and provided for your comfort. If she has forgotten anything, she will compensate you without your even having to ask! This happened to us, and I was stunned and incredibly grateful. I hope that guests in my home feel as pampered as we felt in hers. We now prefer Waitsfield to Stowe. Stowe has some good restaurants, but many mediocre ones kept going by tourists. If you rent this home, don't miss dinners at Mint and American Flatbread, watching glass-blowing at the Mad River Glass Galery, tolting on an Icelandic horse, and quick trips to Small Dog Electronics and Lake Champlain Chocolates.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: All I can say is we strive to please. We are vacationers too and we know what we like; we figure we understand what people want.

We stayed here with the intention of skiing at Sugarbush. It was a doable distance from the resort and had a great entry way for removing snowy boots and clothing. Although we had poor luck with snow at the resort (I think it was unusual for them) the house served as a great place to hang out when not on the slopes and a nice place for other adventures to Burlington and surrounding areas. The description and pictures were accurate and the house was well maintained. The owner was also very easy to work with and contact. I would highly recommend this rental home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

About the owner: Animals rule! We welcome well-behaved, flea-free pets with the exception of some dog breeds (sorry, our insurance requires it). We realize there are good dogs and bad dogs out there of every breed, but the following breeds are generally acknowledged to carry the greatest risk ...pit bulls, akitas, rottweilers, chow chows, presa canarios, or any wolf/dog combination. Mixed breeds fine (who doesn't love a mutt).
Why the Owner Chose Waitsfield:
No better place on the planet than the State of Vermont! Sure, great skiing, but great all year round too with the wonderful outdoors yours for hiking, biking, fishing, tennis/golf, birdwatching, we just can't list it all ... get away from the daily grind, Vermont will help you hit your reset button!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The entire house is planned to be a walk in/walk out operation - just pack your suitcase, and stop at the grocery store, everything else you need is here already. It is VERY clean, and furnished specifically for family and social gatherings. Enjoy the unspoiled and varied scenery for dog walking, biking, or just kick back on the front or back decks and watch the wildlife. Waitsfield can cover all your shopping needs.
