We were lookling for a nice, relaxing place with great views and away from everything, and this place was absolutely perfect. Very secluded, this home was very spacious, clean, and had every amenity that we wanted and needed. The views were spectacular and we really loved the fireplace in the great room. Also, the ping pong/pool table downstairs was a lot of fun. The decor was perfect as well, and we grilled out one night and it was a treat to grill out under a clear sky. A few pointers, though... This home definitely is secluded and could be a little difficult getting to in snowy conditions. While there is a wal-mart about 30 min away, there certainly isn't much in terms of shopping or other within 20-30 min, so I you need something be prepared to drive. That being said, blowing rock and boone are an hour away and well worth the trip. And, we didn't get any cell reception, but for me that was a positive, and there was internet so we weren't completely cut off from the world. I did, however, get some cell reception @ the top of the driveway, but that was the only place within a few miles where I got any. Again, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for family time, seclusion, relaxation, a view, and fresh mountain air. The owner is a pleasure to deal with and the transaction was as smooth as could be. He refunded me the full security deposit before we even got home. Thanks again, and can't wait to head back for another perfect vacation!!!
Owner response:The Verizon cell service at the cabin is very good...all others are a bit difficult. A new convenience store just opened 5 miles from the cabin.

What a cabin!!! The owner, Brian, has thought of everything to make your stay the best ever and was so good to deal with. The cabin was beautiful and the setting in the woods overlooking the mountains were incrediable. It was six of us that went to have a relaxing getaway for four days and visit some of the wineries. We visited a couple of wineries everyday which was alot of fun and convenient to the cabin. We had a fire every night in the fire pit out back talking and sipping wine and when we were inside we enjoyed the beautiful fireplace as much. The cabin was so spacious and open it was great for our group to spend time together and we only turned the TV on once for the guys to watch a game. It was a weekend of treasured memories.

If you are looking for a beautiful, clean & spacious cabin, a serene area to enjoy God's beauty & nature, relaxation, & making wonderful family memories, this is the spot. The cabin had everything you needed, with the extra touches. We enjoyed the wonderful deck overlooking the Blue Ridge mountains, and the close proximity to Stone Mountain State Park & cozy towns like Mt. Airy, Elkin & Galax. We enjoyed roasting hotdogs on the campfire & the amazing sunrises/sunsets. There are two, small local stores to get supplies (Stone Mtn. general store on Longbottom Road & Citgo store on Traphill Road, just past the post office). You can stop in Elkin to get your big supplies as you come in, or on a visit to the area. Some places we enjoyed were: The Andy Griffith Museum & Barney's Cafe in Mt. Airy, NC; Rex Theatre in Galax, VA,; The Depot Restaurant in Dobson, NC (as good as any restaurant I've eaten in Charlotte, NC), Stone Mtn. & Pilot Mtn. State Parks, The Blue Ridge Parkway. Of course the kids loved exploring the area, & the downstairs gameroom with pool & ping pong. This is a beautiful cabin & a beautiful area to explore.

My family and I decided on a last minute long weekend and found this place. It's not our typical vacation because my kids are the type that want amusement parks, water slides and lazy rivers. What we got was board games at the table, pool games and pingpong challenges and hours around a campfire talking, and talking and laughing and bonding. We had some great hikes at the park as well. Friday it rained all day and we just stayed inside and everyone was perfectly content. We watched a couple of videos from the redbox from Walmart, but other than that the TV never came on. The place is great, the view is great.

Stayed here for four days for Merlefest. Compared to the cramped, expensive hotel rooms we've used before, this was paradise and well worth the few extra minutes to get to Wilkesboro. All comments and descriptions were right on (except the comments about the bugs - there were none). Pictures didn't do it justice. The interface with the owner was easy as could be. Highly recommended!

The cabin really is beautiful with lots of features and plenty of room to enjoy your vacation. It is, however, infested with ladybugs. We found this out after arriving to the cabin. We contacted the owner who basically told us this was a problem with all mountain cabins, he was sorry to hear about it, but there was nothing to be done. That was it. My family and I have stayed at many mountain cabins in several areas of the Nc mountains, including this area and have never had this issue before. It was a real annoyance to have them everywhere, and with having our 7 month old with us, we had to pay careful attention that none of them wound up in her mouth or in her food. Like I said before, it's a very peaceful and beautiful place. But I feel you should know the entire story before deciding to stay here.
Owner response:The ladybugs hit the mountains for a couple weeks in early Spring every year and disappear as quickly as they arrive. I do spray the windows and door jams to prevent them from getting in the cabin, but some do get in the cabin during the month of March. The cabin is not infested with ladybugs and this is a specific seasonal issue. The above tenant stayed for eight nights and actually extended their stay an extra night, so I am a little confused why the review is so negative. The cabin, views and area are all absolutely beautiful and I guarantee you will not want to leave once you arrive.

My husband and I recently rented this house for 4 nights. My father in law and a good friend joined us. The primary reason we went there was for hiking and golfing. We played Old Beau and Stone Mountain Golf. Old Beau has always been a favorite of ours, but Stone Mtn had incredible views and you can play for the price of a golf cart at most clubs. Hiking to the top of Stone Mountain is well worth it also. Our favorite hiking place is Doughton Park. We will be back again for that. Brian was so nice to deal with and the house has incredible views! It had a great kitchen and great room area. Sunsets were beautiful each night. The game room was a lot of fun. We played ping pong, pool and Wii on the big screen TV ( we took our wii game.) I got my deposit back almost immediately without having to ask. THANKS BRIAN!!!!

What a gorgeous cabin and a breathtaking view! My two daughters and I stayed for 4 nights and we did not want to leave. The deck, gameroom, and eating on the picnic table were just a few of our favorites. Ping pong and pool took us into some late nights of family fun! Mornings on the deck with my coffee were so peaceful.. We had a fire in the firepit one night, but would love to go back when it is a little cooler. My only suggestion is get your main groceries before you go! There are small convenient stores not far from cabin, but foodlion or walmart are about 25 minutes away. Hiked stone mountain, visited Thistle winery, and Doughton Park....... lunch at Freebourne's, dinner at Mountain Surf Seafood, and grilled two nights. Ice cream twice at Stone mountain General Store. Absolutely wonderful vacation and cannot wait to go back!!!!!! Comfy beds, beautiful all the way around.....Outdoor speakers a real plus. Owner was so nice and very accommodating....Thank you so much and hope to be back very soon!

What can I say? I already miss this BEAUTIFUL cabin we have nicknamed "Washington". This had everything that was as stated. Clean, and even more beautiful than the pictures. Nice campfire area ,Beautiful furniture. we saw hummingbirds and deer.I would recommend this to families with children, because the kids room is cute with the cabin like bed and PS2. We went to the Stone mountain state park that was nearby.I recommend bringing everything you need to eat with you so you don't have to leave this beautiful home. Owner was helpful and nice.
