  We were lookling for a nice, relaxing place with great views and away from everything, and this place was absolutely perfect. Very secluded, this home was very spacious, clean, and had every amenity that we wanted and needed. The views were spectacular and we really loved the fireplace in the great room. Also, the ping pong/pool table downstairs was a lot of fun. The decor was perfect as well, and we grilled out one night and it was a treat to grill out under a clear sky. A few pointers, though... This home definitely is secluded and could be a little difficult getting to in snowy conditions. While there is a wal-mart about 30 min away, there certainly isn't much in terms of shopping or other within 20-30 min, so I you need something be prepared to drive. That being said, blowing rock and boone are an hour away and well worth the trip. And, we didn't get any cell reception, but for me that was a positive, and there was internet so we weren't completely cut off from the world. I did, however, get some cell reception @ the top of the driveway, but that was the only place within a few miles where I got any. Again, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for family time, seclusion, relaxation, a view, and fresh mountain air. The owner is a pleasure to deal with and the transaction was as smooth as could be. He refunded me the full security deposit before we even got home. Thanks again, and can't wait to head back for another perfect vacation!!!

  Owner response: The Verizon cell service at the cabin is very good...all others are a bit difficult. A new convenience store just opened 5 miles from the cabin.

  6 of us comfortably stayed in the cabin for 3 nights. We thoroughly enjoyed being off the beaten path, but loved having wifi and a huge flatscreen TV for the Super Bowl. We spent a couple of days in nearby Stone Mountain State park hiking, and also in Doughton State Park. The fire pit was a fun evening gathering spot even though it was so cold - the fires were HUGE and warm, and plenty of wood was supplied. We knew we weren't going to be close to a grocery store (about 25 mins away), so we cooked ahead and took groceries. Kitchen was well stocked and easy to use. We'll keep you on our list, we'd love to come back.

  A group of old working friends get together each fall in different locations. We are from all over the US, with one of us from Canada. This year, it was my turn to act as host, and being from Raleigh, NC, I wanted to do something that represented NC in a unique way, so we visited Yadkin Valley Wine Country and stay at this cabin for 3 days. The cabin was absolutely perfect! The view was beautiful. The house itself was clean, up to date, and had everything you would need to just get away. We all made the comment how quiet it was on the side of the mountain, and how we could hear nature at its finest. From the game room, to the fire pit, to the full kitchen, we utilized every part of what this house has to offer. The owner communicated extremely well and was even available during the stay if you needed help in any way. It truly was a great reunion for our group, a time that we all were able to catch up from the past year, while at the same time enjoying the awesome surroundings. We all definitely recommend staying here...we plan to again!

  My family and I stayed at the Serenity over the weekend and had an absolutely wonderful time! The house is in such a peaceful, quiet setting and has amazing views of Doughton Park! We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the mornings drinking coffee and hot chocolate and taking it all in. During the days, we hiked at nearby Doughton Park and Stone Mountain and drove around on the Blue Ridge Parkway. At nights, we would roast hotdogs and make smores on the campfire. The house is gorgeous and has so many wonderful amenities, and the owner is such a pleasure to work. The Stone Mountain area is just as beautiful and less crowded than other parts of the NC mountains. If you want to escape from it all, try staying at the Stone Mountain Serenity! We can't wait to go back!

  This place was wonderful - perfect for couple with or without young kids! Accomodations were clean, applicances and interior decor was modern and upgraded - nice and comfortable. There are a couple of nice flat screens in the even it rains, a small library of movies that everyone can enjoy in the event you forgot to bring some for that rainy day! Beautiful view off the large deck - we most enjoyed the fire pit, speakers outside to enjoy music while hanging around the fire. It's very secluded which we loved - but if you need to get out and about- hit the town of Elkin - there are some fun little shops downtown and lots of scenery...mostly - our family was there to visit and relax - Stone Mountain State park is nearby with excellent trails for hiking and there is one for a view of the 200 foot Stone Mountain falls - they were well maintained, patrolled by the state, and traveled by others - so you didn't feel like you were in the middle of no where all alone - We had a blast! Bring chairs for the fire pit, if more than 2 adult couples - bring an air matress and pull out in the recreation room is not the way to go! No complaints = owner was easy to deal with! This place is definitely worth a try if you need time away to "just breathe" and visit with loved ones!

  This is an incredible piece of property. The pictures do not do it justice. We spent the weekend and wished we could have stayed longer. The drive through the surrounding country is beautiful with old barns, farms, creek views and pastures of sheep and cows. When we arrived at the cabin with all its modern convinces we had the best of both worlds, quiet mountain experience with all the comforts of home. We roasted marshmallows in a fire in the fire pit. We enjoyed the quiet beautiful star filled night skies. We hiked in the nearby Stone Mountain Park. We will return.

  We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay this past weekend and soooo wished it could have been longer. The house was clean, well stocked and very comfortable. Also, I have to add that I love how the towels and trash bags were provided as well as soft soap for the bathrooms. So much less I have to pack next time!! The view from the deck was awesome! We especially loved the simple decor and lack of clutter. Wide open space is great for entertaining kids and much easier to keep clean! We roasted hot dogs over the fire on Saturday night and grilled chicken on the Weber on Sunday night! After a day of hiking at Stone Mtn. State Park, the beds were never more comfortable. The only thing that would improve this cabin would be a hot tub to soak in after a long day of hiking! Our kids loved the ping pong/pool table and Connect 4 games. My husband loved the Rambo movies :) The owner, Brian, was great to communicate with. We are already planning our next trip back!

  Our family really enjoyed our vacation at Stone Mountain Serenity. We stayed for four nights and wished we had planned to stay the whole week. The house and view was even nicer than we thought it would be from the description and photographs. It was great being so close to Stone Mountain State Park and Doughton National Park. The information the owner provided was very helpful with planning our day trips. We loved being outside on the deck and enjoying the peace and quite. When we were inside we could still enjoy the views from the cabin. The owner always responed to my emails and returned my deposit the day after we returned home. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family. We hope to come and stay here again.

  Thanks so much for sharing your cabin with us. It far exceeded our expectations!! When we first pulled up in the drive we could see there was a great view, but when we walked into the cabin and saw the view throught the huge front windows, we were blown away. Spent most of our time visiting the local vineyards (which were beautiful by the way), but everyone wanted to get back early to enjoy just relaxing on the front porch. We want to come back again soon and take in some other activities like hiking and checking out the state park. Again, thanks for the good time and look forward to renting again in the near future!!

  My expectations were met and more...We plan to return at another date thus our timing coincided with most attractions being closed for the off season. However, we enjoyed our stay and are very thankful to the owner for letting us rent his place. It is a remote place but with time and a car you can get to anywhere you plan to go. My husband, our 12 year old and I had a wonderful time.
