We stayed the week of 7/9-7/16 2011 and had an amazing time. The cabin was very nice and clean, and the hottub was a definite plus. It was easy to get to and just far enough out for peace and quiet, but close enough to get to places you wanted to see. The owners were very nice and called after we got there to make sure everything was OK. They responded to any questions very quickly and were very nice to work with. I would most definitly stay here again. I have saved it in my favorites for my next trip.

The cabin is very musty/mildewy smelling and not being well ventilated. Lots of mold. I'd avoid if you have allergies. We had to wash everything when we arrived home because the mildew permeated everything we had with us. The pictures on this site are several years old from what we could tell. For instance, no box springs on the king bed. It was over 90 degrees with high humidity the week we stayed, day and night, and the one a/c wall unit in the living room was not able to cool back into the bedrooms sufficiently. It wasn't even on when we arrived - it was stifling inside. Can't close bedroom doors at night and have air. The mole cricket situation is crazy. There were no fewer than 4 in the bathtub every morning, and all over the house. I'd expect this in a rustic cabin, but this is portrayed as a comfortable chalet, not a hunting cabin. There is internet, if you can find the password, which was never provided to us. Thankfully we are resourceful. Also, there is no cell phone reception and the phone in the cabin phone does not allow for outgoing calls without a calling card. Who on earth uses a phone calling card these days? It's $5.00 extra per month for included long distance on my phone bill. Why not give this access to your guests when you know they cannot use a cell phone at your property? Lastly, and most troubling to me, the owners themselves are not organized. We made our final payment more than 30 days prior to the due date. Starting a week before the date we would have needed to pay, we were asked no less than three times via phone calls and email when we were going to make our payment. Then we received paperwork with the wrong family name (not even close to our name), and asking for an additional payment for pets and extra people. To be followed up by yet another request for our final payment. Oops! We're really more organized, this is not usual, I was told. When we left the property, we left it in exceptional shape. I even washed a rug in the kitchen. After nearly a month, I inquired about our security deposit fee. Error, I was told. It was overlooked. Check's in the mail. After another 10 days, I followed up again. I was told we wouldn't receive our deposit back because of broken beer bottles, use of all sheets, evidence of an additional person sleeping on the couch, etc. I picked up the phone a this time. Guess what? Once again, they were confused. Wrong renters. Check's in the mail! We finally received. Not worth the trouble!
Owner response:This was a very disappointing, dishonest review, we believe was given in anger. Our chalet is professionally cleaned weekly, has wonderful ventilation and has been upgraded since these photos were taken....new oak floors, and new white carpeting in the bedrooms, and new tile in the kitchen. WE keep a landline and internet so that renters can always be in touch with loved ones. WE have rented for 13years now, all positive experiences & reviews, and the same manger.cleaner. WE held back returning the deposit based on our managers comments, denied by renter, and then returned her full deposit nevertheless. I am just sorry she felt it necessary to file this attaching review. Here is what my housekeeper reported : ".I have been the housekeeper and the "contact-person" there since 2001 as well as manager of several other vacation-rentals here in the Great Smokey Mountain/Franklin area. I put a sincere and professional effort into each accommodation to make all of the guest comfortable with a clean and efficient vacation rental. In the event of (the occasional) complaint or "break-down",I have clearly posted both my cell and office #'s with instructions to contact me immediatly so that I can quickly address any situation. This brings me to the question in point of why if Ms.Driver was so unhappy with the house, why did she not contact me with her complaints? She and her party stayed 5 days and nights then contacted me via my office phone to let me know they were checking-out with no explanation why and no complaints...In fact very pleasantly. It is understood by most guests that the rental is in the mountains, under a canopy and off the beaten path;a romantic and beautiful setting, yet, this type of setting comes some "natural-pit-falls" ie: the occasional spider or insect will find it's way into the house.I am empathetic with guests that are alarmed to "happen" across such, yet this is not a,(what I deem) a "Theme-Park"/controlled situation.I will also emphatically add,in the 9 years I have been in this rental home,I have never seen a roach or any evidence of roaches;I strongly dispute this guest's accusation of these! The heat in the house is "base-board heat" which is common in most of the vacation rentals here in our area..very "self-explanatory"a control-box with dials,( on the wall) in each room, numbering from 1-6 for the desired temperature. The house has been recently y updated with all new hard-wood flooring..there are no "weak" places anywhere."

We really enjoyed our stay in this house. It is so very comfortable, with everything you could possibly need. Relaxing on the porch, watching the birds and soaking in the hot tub were our favorite things to do after a day of hiking. It was so quiet, too, a nice neighborhood. We will put this house on our list of favorites!

What a wonderful vacation we had. This cabin is so comfortable and cozy, it is a must for anyone who wants to enjoy some quiet and relaxing time. We went to Mason Mine, we went to Splash Country, Ghost town in the sky and some other attractions. The cabin is in a great area and the Hot Tub at night is just beautiful. It is a great price for the money. Thank you Mr and Mrs Sussman for sharing your vacation home.

Fantastic getaway! The perfect mountain home for enjoying all the Nantahala Forrest has to offer. Comfortable, beautiful, and perfectly located close to everything we wanted to explore. A great value too! We stayed for a week and I would highly recommend this home to anyone who wants to enjoy hours on the large shaded deck or in the outdoor spa but also wants to get out and hike, raft, or explore all the natural beauty easily accessible from the home.
