San Miguel de Allende (SMA) is a beautifully restored 400 year old colonial silver city, considered by many to be the prettiest town in Mexico, and it is protected by the government as an Historic Trust site to ensure that it stays that way.
SMA offers an extraordinary array of concerts, live theater, lectures and famous art institutes (Instituto Allende and Bellas Artes). Classes are offered in painting, sculpture, weaving, dance, photography, and ceramics to name a few. There is a wonderful English language library with the largest collection of books in English outside of Mexico City.
Weekly events are published in the bilingual newspaper, “Atencion”, each Friday.

We stayed for 6 weeks in 2010 and a month in 2011, Jan-Feb, the best time to be in Sand Miguel de Allende. The casita is perfectly adequate for 2 people. Both the owner and manager are responsive and helpful. There are many cultural activities available in SMA; we never ran out of things to do. The location is perfect to walk to the Jardín, as well as shopping areas. Buses are cheap (less than .50) or you can go anywhere in SMA by taxi for about $3.00. We recommend the casita for adults who have no difficulty climbing.
Owner response:Thank you for the review Susan, it was great to have you in the Casita again this year! I am just winding up a wonderful and busy three week visit before heading back to Minnesota this Sunday morning and would like to take this opportunity to provide an update on our continuing work to make the Casita and beautiful place to vacation in San Miguel: First, we refinished the night stands in the bedroom in a rich green that looks great with the colors in the room. We used the same shade of green to finish the coffee table in the entertainment. Again it looks great with the colors in the room! Paco just installed rubber gaskets for the window control levers for all of the windows in the Casita. The new gaskets look (and function) much better than the tape one of our guests put up last month. Tomorrow we finish the project to "screen-in" the sitting area just outside the Casita bedroom. Now Casita guests will be able to sleep with the slider open and get great cross-room ventilation. Lastly, I installed a new phone system that allows our guests to make unlimited toll free phone calls back to the US and Canada. Enough bragging (for now) please come back soon! John

what a find. We loved this Casita and thought of it as our home. The bed and shower were wonderful and a store to buy water or other essentials was two blocks away. The pictures are just what you see. My husband could not believe that we had hot water all the time. The maids cleaned and cleaned, even though we never dirtied the house. The owners were great about getting back to us with any question that we had and made sure that we were welcome when we arrived. This is all that is advertised and more, you won't be sorry.

My husband & I spent 5 wonderful wks. at this comfortable roomy casita. We especially loved the roof deck with its fabulous views of hillsides, church domes, and the purple haze of the Jacaranda trees in bloom. Lots of restaurants and markets in the area. And a short walk to the main square. Property mgr. always available--came at 9:00 p.m. when we discovered the pilot light out on the hot water heater.

I just spent a week at the Casita and it was quite lovely. The interior is gracious and attractive, the roof terrace has especially fine views - mountains and cityscape, the location not far from the center of town and near great shopping at the Mercado (indoor and outdoors)and along the streets that lead to town center, the hosts are most pleasant and helpful. The Casa next door, also owned by the Casita owners, afforded me friendly neighbors. It was a totally positive experience.
