There is a bar-height counter with stools, for casual breakfast dining, or gathering. Outside the back door is a stainless steel gourmet grill, for outdoor cooking.

We stayed in this house which was located across the busy freeway up a mountain. It has a nice view and is close to most places. Actually a nice location between old La Jolla and the pier just up the road. The house itself was fine except for an uninvited visitor at night. One must expect that not all will go perfect for any stay, but the response was less than stellar. We had the rat problem, a light went out in the bathroom and I could not get internet coverage for a day (I figured out this on my own). However, the rat problem was not solved and the light bulb took 2 days to fix. This property is managed by a property management company and not an individual, so this may explain why things were not taken care of immediately. Ironically a friend of ours from our town stayed in the same house and had the same problem for part of her stay. Also, be aware that you are on the side of a busy freeway and it is not recommended (I had already read this) to try to have kids or older parents try to cross the road. We use VRBO often and enjoy this area.
Owner response:I am so sorry that for 3 yrs this has upset you so much. We were told of the unpleasant situation of a rodent coming into the house. Unfortunately, because of all the palm trees and canyons in La Jolla - rodents can certainly be very common. We immediately signed a contract with a great extermination company that went to work right away to rid any rodents at all from the property. They are still under contract with us and come every week to ensure this will not happen again. Thankfully, we have not seen any rodents in the last several years. I do want to apologize though that it took 2 days to get new light bulbs this certainly is way to long to wait and again we like to be very prompt in responding to any needs of our guests. There is a white binder in all our homes that have the security codes and log in for the internet and wifi. Not only do we have the binder we also now have employed a company who you can call 24 hrs a day for any assistance what so ever with internet, phone and cable. Again I am very sorry that your vacation was interrupted by a rodent and dismal light bulb situation.

The house has a lot of character and has a great view of the ocean. Everything was as advertised and we had a great time.

Great location, quiet neighborhood, close to the cove, the beach to Scripps pier, shopping, restaurants, stores, gas, nice view of the ocean, well equipped, comfortable beds, dining room and living room and kitchen open for a great entertainment area. You'll like this place.
