"The Wild Goose Lodge"

This "Adirondack Lodge" has long been known as a gathering place for many local residents and it is now available for rent on a weekly basis. With rich history beginning in 1953, this camp was first started as a hunting club in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains located on Route 26 (formerly known as Route 99) in Loon Lake, NY, 6 miles north of Route 3, in between Saranac and Saranac Lake.

The original camp experienced a fire in 1993 and was rebuilt in that same year. At 5000 square feet, the camp offers 8 private bedrooms that each have double bunk beds in them. It can comfortably sleep up to 32 people. There is a 24' X 32' Great Room with a beautiful Fieldstone Corner Fireplace, a separate TV/reading room, a commercial-grade kitchen that has room for several guests to cook at the same time and a bar separating the kitchen and great room. On the lower level there is a 30' x 32' game room with a pool table, electronic dart board, and card table, TV and seating areas. To help make your stay just a little more relaxing there are 3 full bathrooms, laundry room, and private steam room to unwind in after a day full of activities.

The Wild Goose Lodge is located 25 minutes from Saranac Lake, 35 minutes from Lake Placid and 45 minutes from Plattsburgh. There are year-round activities available close by in Wilmington which include Whiteface Ski Center, Mount Vanhovenburg Ski Jump, Bob Sled Rides and Cross Country Ski Trails, excellent Trout Fishing in the Saranac and Ausable Rivers (not to mention all the ponds and smaller streams), access to State Land for hunting, fishing and hiking and quiet county roads for bicycling. "Leaf Peeping" through the Adirondack Mountains is popular among everyone when the fall foliage is at its' most colorful peak in October.

While staying at the Wild Goose Lodge you may want to visit Lake Placid to experience the Olympic History that this Village has to offer and you'll be truly impressed by all of the choices of fine dining that are available. Schedule your stay at the Wild Goose Club around Nationally Acclaimed events like the "Lake Placid Horse Show" that runs from the last week of June through the second week of July or the "Iron Man Triathlon" also in July. Not to mention the various festivals and events held at Whiteface Mountain year round!! The Wild Goose Club has become a popular sight for small corporate meetings, family reunions, and for groups of people that would like an affordable way to travel and vacation together without staying in convention hotel rooms.

Experience life in the heart of the Adirondacks!

    • The Wild Goose lodge was a real godsend to us. I admit I was a bit leary renting a place sight unseen. However, the owner/rental agent, Mr. Tahy, was incredibly nice and helpful- going above and beyond our expectations to find answers to the questions I had. The place was beyond our expectations! The lodge was gorgeous, private and left us feeling like we had our own private hotel for the week. The pictures don't do it justice. We've already recommended it to several friends and hope that it will still be available to rent in the future, as I'm sure it will continue to gain popularity. The kitchen is topnotch the rest of the place was a combination of comfort with a touch of extravagance. There are very few places that are for large groups, are reasonably priced, and lets you feel like you are really on a relaxing getaway all at once- the Wild Goose is such a place.

    • The Wild Goose was perfect for our group of 8 adults and 8 kids, with plenty of room to spare. It was big enough to easily fit all of us and also had plenty of rooms to sneak away and have quite time if you needed. Awesome kitchen makes it easy to prepare food for your group and save money by eating in. Very well equipped with kitchen tools. Screened in porch was perfect to allow us to enjoy the outside without the bugs. We had tons of fun and lots of laughs in the game room. We were all very please and can not wait to go back again next year to make more memories at the Wild Goose.

    • I have spent time at this property on several occasions, including a wedding reception and a few winter snowmobile outings. This is a fantastic, quiet, wilderness area to relax in. I look forward to any return visits in the future.

    • My family rented the lodge from July 7th to 13th in 2009. The facility was absolutely fantastic. It was everything we had hoped for and more. It was even more spacious than expected and allowed our large group of five families (14 adults and 11 children aged 4 to 18) to spread out and enjoy ourselves. The kitchen had an impressive 6 burner commercial stove with grill for pancakes etc. The very spacious kitchen has two large commercial fridges and a large commercial freezer and an additional fridge which were more than ample for all of our food. There were plenty of seasonings and utensils, pots and pans to cook with. Two sinks and two dishwashers were also a major plus for cleanup. It was great to not have to bring sheets and towels also. The towels were very nice and some of the bed linens were brand new. There is a great new stone fire pit in the back of the house that we used nightly with many camp chairs and half a dozen adirondack chairs to sit in. We loved the front and back porches for morning coffee and just listening to the sounds of nature and relaxing. The large yard was great for horseshoes and volleyball. The game room in the basement of the Wild Goose lodge was very large and the kids enjoyed the pool table, shuffleboard and fooseball tables on colder or rainy days. We didn't watch tv but there are a number of large flat screen televisions throughout the house. I can't imagine a more well appointed house for a large group. We were celebrating my mom's 80th birthday and she had a wonderful time, as did all the other adults and kids. Some rooms did get a tad stuffy at night and bunk beds were a bit of a challenge, but did not detract from our stay. It was fantastic to have washers and driers available to keep up with the needs of a big group. The only thing missing is a lake. But we still had a fantastic stay. Saranac Lake was just a half hour away and Lake Placid only an additional 15 minutes. Several great hikes are well within an hours drive. The Adirondack Interpretive Center at Paul Smith's College was fantastic and has excellent hiking trails that are easy to manage for all ages. The Buck Pond Campground Beach is very nice. We checked it out one cool day but did not get a chance to swim. Day passes are only $8 per car and canoe rental is available for $20/day. There is also a great hike there called Little Haystack which was a great challenge for the adventurous. I would highly recommend the Wild Goose Lodge for large groups. It is truly a wonderful facility and the price was very reasonable.
