What an amazing home! We have stayed at quite a few rentals, and your home is by far the nicest we have stayed in thus far. The view are amazing, to say the least! We had a tough time tearing ourselves away from the property to explore the surrounding area. We did manage to get into Beaufort a few times to explore. We did the historical walking tour, which was very interesting. We also had lunch at Plums a few times--the soup is delish. We also went to Hunting Island one day, and also took a picnic lunch to the Sheldon church Ruins---this was beautiful and peaceful. It rained the first three days we there, but that was not a problem with the view and amenities. We actually did nothing but relax, which is what we needed badly. We never did make it out to dinner, as we fixed gourmet dinners in the well equipped kitchen every night, along with a bottle of wine and a million dollar view. Who needs to go out with that? it was also a pleasure meeting with the owner, John--very sweet and full of southern hospitality. We have definitely found our home away from home, and cannot wait to come back!

We had a terrific 7 day stay- the description was very accurate & were very pleased with every little detail of our stay. Beautiful property with awesome sunrises & peaceful sunsets. We had the great opportunity to listen to a great horned owl for 2 nights! Outstanding area to explore with our kayaks which also included kayaking at Hunting Island. Our short trip to Parris Island Marine Graduation events for 3 days was a very easy drive. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property. It was absolutely worth our 12 hour drive from home. We will be back for our next adventure..

Peaceful bliss! Upon arrival, my husband stood at the large picture window looking out over the pristine marsh and declared, “I haven’t felt this relaxed in years!” This upscale cottage is amazingly roomy yet charming with a warm, cozy comfort where one could spend hours and days just stumbling about. We watched the sun rise over mugs of steaming hot coffee from the dock that extends out from the back yard. We enjoyed our 23rd anniversary with simple app’s and chilled wine prepared in a very accommodating full kitchen and admired the spectacular view from the dining area. Downtown Beaufort is a short distance away. We rode our bikes from the cottage to the Beaufort waterfront area and sat in a swing people watching before heading to one of the many local restaurants. This cottage was a pleasure and a joy and one of the best anniversary’s we’ve had. We departed rested and happy and look forward to our next visit. Thank you, John!

The property exceeded our expectations - everything was in order and the views in the early morning and evening once the tide had rolled in were incredible. The cottage was very clean and spacious - we were even able to walk into Beaufort a few times for drinks and dinner. I recommend Saltus and Q on Bay for dinner to anyone staying at the cottage - although Saltus was expensive, the steak I had was one of the best I've ever eaten. Thanks to John for the opportunity to rent the cottage for a week - we had a fantastic time.

John, Thank you so much for a lovely stay! This location is truly magical! Even though we had some hot weather, it seems we were always treated to a breeze which cooled things off rather nicely by 6 or 7 each evening. We walked to town a couple times, and that was fun to do with our dog. The Common Ground was more than happy to give us a cup of water for the dog. We had breakfast one day at Magnolia Bakery & Café with dog in tow! Also a pleasant time, since we could sit outside with the pup. We enjoyed the Indie Film Series offered by USC-Beaufort during the summer. One evening, Saltus River Grill had ½ price sushi to go with a documentary about a sushi chef! It was great to sit on their patio and look out over the river. The food was quite good. We loved heading over to Hunting Island State Park’s beach which is a short drive away. Additionally, we enjoyed day trips to Savannah and Bluffton, but were always happy to return to our beautiful “home away from home.” It is SO peaceful at the cottage! The river and marsh seem to change by the hour, and we truly enjoyed just watching the colors change, hearing the fish jump, and spying the visiting birds on the dock! Our two weeks here were probably some of the most relaxing we have ever enjoyed. The cottage is well equipped with cooking supplies, and also cleaning supplies. We found many items left by you, Theresa, or other guests which made our stay enjoyable as we didn’t have to worry about buying extra things (trash bags, tissues, laundry detergent, dish soap, spices, to name just a few). And, we left a few supplies of our own to “pay it forward!” This cottage is so thoughtfully laid out as well – if we were staying longer, there was plenty of storage. It seems you thought of most everything to make staying here just as carefree as could be imagined. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if we find ourselves visiting Beaufort. Thanks again! ~ Gregg and Carol (Potomac Falls, VA)

John, what a perfect place to welcome-in 2012! From the tastefully appointed cottage ...to discovering new restaurants/shops/strolling the boardwalk & local beaches. It all exceeded our expectations. I found the people of Beaufort to be one of its best assets - very friendly and helpful! And oh my gosh...that million dollar view!!! It was like watching an ever-changing watercolor painting just outside our windows... unforgettable!

My husband and I stayed here while visiting Beaufort this past spring. We had spent the previous year living in the area and wanted to return for a visit. The accommodations were as described and better than the photos represented. Positives: Great location just north of downtown Beaufort with quick access to Lady's Island, Parris Island and downtown shops and restaurants. The neighborhood was great to walk our dog in and includes a park and public deep-water boat launch just 1/4 mile from the cottage. The facility was very well maintained and perfectly clean. The overall character of the place was very nice, historic, tastefully decorated, well appointed and offered a pristine view of the Beaufort River. This was an ideal rental property for two people on a getaway, doable if you had kids but probably not a good option for two couples. I strongly recommend this facility if you appreciate a great view, neighborhood charm and well cared for grounds and building. We look forward to staying here in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this beautiful, comfortable cottage. The cottage is very nicely furnished - right down to the perfect lighting in every room. We were content to relax in the living room with an amazing view of the river and we also enjoyed exploring downtown which is a short drive away. One evening at dusk, we built a fire in the firepit and watched the last light fade away over the river. Our meals were memorable (dinner at Saltus and lunch at Wren's and Plum) as well as the meals we prepared in the home's cozy kitchen. We fell in love with Beaufort - the area is so graceful and beautiful. We look forward to coming back in the spring and summer when we can enjoy the outdoors even more.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The cottage is immaculate and luxurious, in a peaceful setting only minutes from downtown Beaufort. I enjoyed walking in the neighborhood, and kayaking with Kim and David at Beaufort Kayaking. Also spent a fun evening at the drive-in theater on Route 21. (How often do you get to do that these days?) Highly recommend a trip to Hunting Island, and a meal at Sweetgrass Cafe at Dataw Marina (make a reservation, and you can get a pass to drive into the private, gated community where it is located). All in all, it was a restful, relaxing week, filled with gorgeous views. Thanks, John, for making this special place available. I hope to return soon!

                  Year Purchased: 2007

About the owner: Real Estate developer and Naval Aviator, who has always taken pride in taking on a project in a superior location and bringing it back to life for others to enjoy. We try to think of everything and welcome constructive comments and criticism. If you ask for it and we can make it better, it will be done. Audusta Place is almost a surreal setting on the Beaufort River. You would never know how nice it was if you didn't stay here once! A drive by simply doesn't give you a feel for how warm and comfortable this home is. We strive for cleanliness, convenience and lots of entertainment. With flat screens in two rooms, a dynamic surround system, a fully equipped kitchen, and very comfortable bedding, you should feel right at home with a breathtaking view of the Beaufort River and InterCoastal. The 'View' is breathtaking and at the same time very relaxing. The location phenomenal. We welcome small special events such as outside wedding parties for a nominal 'grounds' charge. Sorry, special events not permitted if the house is being used by guests.

                  Why the Owner Chose Beaufort:
We discovered Historic Downtown Beaufort after being driven off Hilton Head Island due to traffic and crowds. The very first visit was enough for us to invest in the area. We spent two plus years looking before we decided to invest in 811 Audusta Place on the Beaufort River. Although we preferred deep water, we settled for the view and free launching and boat access to the River 1/4 mile down the street. The neighborhood (Pigeon Pt.) is slowly regentrifying into a perfect long or short term residential area. We have a beautiful park within two blocks, well maintained tennis courts within a 10 minute walk, recreational ball fields about 5 blocks away, the National Cemetery adjoining the neighborhood, and Hisoric Downtown Beaufort a mere 5 minute bike ride away. Parris Island and MCAS Beaufort (The sound you hear overhead is 'The sound of Freedom!') are only 15 minutes to either gate. If you are a retiree, you should check out the new commissary and exchange on Parris Island. If you play golf, retired or not, you are welcome to play the Parris Island Golf Course for a very reasonable green fee. AND, YOU CAN WALK! You should sleep soundly, as there is no noise to contend with. No adjacent hotel rooms with adjoining rooms. No required presence for breakfast at 'their' serving times, no clutter or uncomfortable furniture. You should sleep soundly in a quiet setting, and wake up to your own schedule, your favorite brand of your coffee, and a sunrise setting along the Beaufort River at Audusta Place in Pigeon Point.
