Perfect Location for Family Gathering

This was an ideal house in a beautiful location for our family gathering. My wife and I drove from the Bay Area with our 3 young kids, and met our parents from Arizona and brother in law and nephew from Texas. We all had plenty of space for sleeping, lounging, playing and eating inside and out. The interior of the house has a wonderful old-world feel (yet with all the necessary modern comforts) with an inviting family room and large dining room for big family meals. The rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds, couches and chairs all well matched to the character of the house. The kitchen had all the cooking and eating materials you would need to prepare delicious meals. The outdoor area is a star too. Our kids loved the playground - which kept them busy and allowed the adults to enjoy relaxing times in the sunny grass areas. The yard also has plenty of room for all kinds of games from throwing the football to tag with the kids. The lovely trees and foliage provide the perfect backdrop to feel like you're away from all the craziness of the outside world. Not only is the house comfortable, but it is perfectly situated in one of the most beautiful spots in California, or anywhere else for that matter. We could easily get to the beach, zoo, downtown Santa Barbara, Stearns Wharf, Montecito Village, all no more than 20 minutes away. It was also easy to do longer day trips to Santa Ynez wine country, Nojoqui Falls, and many other beautiful vistas and fun activities within an hour's drive. We are so pleased to have had our family get together in such a wonderful place, and would happily recommend it to other large groups, with our without kids. We would love to come back! I would also like to say the owners and rental staff were friendly, courteous and helpful too, which made the experience even better. Not to mention the excellent Babcock wine right there in the in-house wine cabinet ready to enjoy.

We stayed at the Vinter's house for a little over 3 weeks and we, our family and friends loved it. The owners were very helpful and responded to our requests. The house is comfortable, well stocked and clean. The sunshine pours into the house in the afternoon and it is very inviting. It was especially nice to have the lovely yard, and our dogs approved!! The visit to the winery was very enjoyable and we loved the wine ... and now need to order some more! thanks again Lisa and Bryan ... hope to do this again in 2013!

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is such a lovely estate home. We all loved being here. It makes one feel like we are in old southern Italy. And so private, with a feel of seclusion. What an amazing stay we had at Valdemosa! This truly is such a special retreat - so relaxing and calming, and family friendly too! Lewis just loved the playset and was mesmorized by the beautiful fountain. Our friends adored the guest house and we all had such fun romping on the gorgeous lawn and enjoyed the remarkable garden. Every single view out of the house had amazing charm and beauty - what a gift during our stay. Loved going to the winery too - please thank Mike, Terrie and Joanne for us - they were all lovely. Thanks for sharing your house. Our week was enchanting just as the website promised. We are particularly pleased with the playset in the backyard, as Schuyler could swing and dig in the sand while the adults talked. We went to the beach every day and made use of the running trails. When our whale trip was cancelled, we quickly found the Condor Express in your notebook. Thanks for everything.

Dear Babcocks- What an incredible house! This was the perfect setting for our family to get together to celebrate my big 60! Everyone had a wonderful time thanks to this fabulous house and grounds. We all felt "at home" the minute we walked through the front door. THe dogs loved the big yard and the grandkids could have played on the swings 24/7. What an incredible house! This was the perfect setting for our family get together to celebrate my big 60! Everyone had a wonderful time thanks to this fabulous house and grounds. My son Greg gave me the best birthday present ever - and my daughter Karen too! My four grand children, my kids, my husband, thoroughly enjoyed a beautiful weekend in your lovely villa. Letter to Babcocks: "What a wonderful retreat and marvelous home to celebrate our 4th child's graduation from Westmont College! With fires raging all around, we remained smoke free here at "Valdemosa" under blue skies, with a moon that was full with spectacular red-orange hues. Everyone enjoyed the gardens; from 2 year old Shane playing in the sandbox and swings to my daughter's stroll through the rose garden; to a simple game of bacci ball on the grass - and finally a sip of Babcock wine on the patio in late afternoon. The home was spacious for all, filled with eclectic pieces of furniture and an eye for classic decor. As a Westmont alum myself, I'm a great lover of gardens, hedges, and all things Mediterranean that Valdemosa so well embodies. Thanks so much."

A guest who attended our son's wedding and reception at your lovely home last month called it a "fairy tale wedding". Your warm, spacious and elegant home was the reason. Family and close friends spent 3 wonderful nights there. We were pleasantly pleased when the home and grounds were more beautiful than the photos depicted it. The kitchen, baths and bedrooms were generously outfitted. We hope to return again some day. I have a feeling the bride and groom definitely will.

I just wanted to let you know that the house worked out perfect for us. We really enjoyed our stay. Phone message first night of stay: "I just wanted to say that I hope you won't be disappointed, but there's no way you will ever get us out of here! We love this house! The VRBO web site doesn't do this wonderful house justice - which is fine with us as it is our secret retreat now in Montecito. We have been doing our annual "Day After Christmas Day Family Bocce Ball Tournament" for 40 plus years, and this was the best ever course layout and accommodations. We'll be back...
