Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2008

The home was built from the ground up. The Dorrington/Arnold area offers a slower lifestyle and takes you back to a simpler time. The history of the area as well as the variety of activities ensure a great time whenever you visit. Visitors can relax and enjoy the relaxation of the mountain lifestyle, or fill their days with sightseeing and outdoor activities.

Why the Owner Chose Dorrington

Dorrington is at 5000 foot elevation which means it gets a good amount of snow in the winter. It is about 20 minutes from Bear Valley skiing. The cabin is part of the Snowshoe Springs development which has a local swimming hole in the summer. Going to the swimming area feels like a real old-fashioned getaway - pack a picnic, bring the inflatables and fishing rods and spend the day in an Alpine-like setting surrounded by lush forest.

The Unique Benefits of this Cabin

Big Trees State Park is great for all the seasons. It offers both easy hikes and more challenging ones - the ranger station has many educational activities and is great for kids! In the winter, the area offers sledding. In the summer, New Melones has great boating and tubing, and Lake Alpine is lovely for a picnic or rowboat ride.
The cabin itself is decorated in a rustic, alpine style. Knotty pine accents throughout as well as genuine log furniture pieces. The linens, blankets and couches are cozy. Whimsical bear and wild west decorations impart a touch of humor. Brand new kitchen ensures that all the amenities are there - no roughing it!

We have gone to this house for several years in a row now. It's just the most comfortable and inviting house we've ever rented. The owners are also really great and very helpful. I would highly recommend this house.

My wife and I stayed at this new mountain home this past autumn. We rented canoes and boated on a nearby lake. It is clear that the owners take very good care of the property. This winter, we hope to stay again and ski!
