We spent 2 mo. here & loved it. It's an easy walk to the beach & we love the location...close to restaurants, shopping, entertainment. Coligny Plaza is right around the corner. Bike trails are great. Cabana itself has everything you need to make this your vacation home. It's very nicely furnished & feels like a true beach retreat. The kitchen has everything we needed when dining in. Loved having 1 1/2 baths. Looking forward to spending many more winters @ #70.

We stayed at this property for two nights this past August (having made the booking for a full week approximately two weeks before). While the location is central (a couple blocks up the street from Coligny Beach), and it was nice to have the option to have our dog with us, in all other respects, the condition of the condo was extremely disappointing. The flooring in the foyer was coming up, carpet upstairs had not been cleaned in some time, bedspreads were worn and torn, all walls were institutional white, and there were large patches of mildew on the wall of the upstairs bath. There is no wireless access (you have to walk outside and up to the pool to use your cell phone). The patio outside the sliding glass doors is furnished with one plastic chair and a rusted grill, and the 'storage area' off the kitchen was filled with trash and junk. The overall feel is of a college apartment which has been furnished with leftover furniture from someone's attic or garage. While the housekeeping service had cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms, provided clean basic linens, and vacuumed, the couches in the living room were dirty enough that we threw sheets over them before sitting on them. The advertised upgrades to the bathrooms consist of new stock vanities. While the owners have no control over the age and exterior appearance of the units, with the availability of cute furnishings and accessories from places like Pier One and TJMaxx, and the low cost of paint and carpet cleaning, there is no reason to maintain a vacation residence in this kind of condition. We ended up moving out as soon as we were able to find an alternative. Our request for any refund was denied. There are units available for just a few hundred dollars more a week that are VASTLY superior. I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.
Owner response:I have owned this unit for over 10 years and keep it in good shape. I have numberous guests that return every year to the unit, and this review was the first negative one I have had. The comments are a bit over the top and were designed to be hurtful to me because I would not refund them there rental fee after they had reserved that week months in advance. As is my policy with every guest, I will send my maintenance company out the next day if you find something that needs fixed/repaired/replaced. My cleaning company also will go out right away if there is a complaint about how the unit was cleaned. These guest refused all offers for me to send someone out, they were just trying to get their money back. The unit had been rented just about every week since April, and being a pet-friendly rental in August, the unit had some wear-and-tear due to the amount of traffic. I do not advertise wireless internet, I have a cable modem that you can connect to. As for cell phone reception, that is out of my control. I paint the unit every offseason and I either have the carpets deep-cleaned or replaced as well. The sofa is only 1-year old and is in fine shape. The patio is a small cement slab and can only fit one or two chairs max. There is a small charcoal grill for guests to use, and a propane grill just wouldn't work because once the tank was empty it would just sit there. I know that I cannot please everyone, but for the price, the proximity to the beach, and being pet-friendly, it is a great option for a rental.

This property almost did not look like the pictures. The furniture was worn completely out. The other guest was right on with his complants. I even took pictures of the problems with the condo and never heard from the owner. Never want to rent this condo again. I had owned one of the cabanas (sold it) and had to look quickly for a condo for my grandchildren. Had to borrow items from the next door neighbors to use the kitchen. What was available was old and unsafe teflon. Terrible experience. Paid a good price but expected it to be what I was paying for.....Taught me a lesson...Look at it first....

We loved the villa...close to beach & shopping. Very clean pool out back if you don't want the beach. We'll definitely be back every year.

I finally had time to post my experience at your beautiful villa, but couldn't figure out how to do it. I would reccomend this rental to everyone(I already told friends about it). I was sceptical at first, but now want info for repeat rentals. My husband, my Siberian husky, and I look foward to renting again, hopefully next year. Had a wonderful week (June25-July2,2005). Thank-you again! GOD bless!! Renee Ankrom

Kris, We had a great time during our mid September stay at your villa. We had exceptional weather, and really enjoyed the villa and its location. I was able to play golf at Harbour Town, which was incredible. We also had a good time at the Salty Dog. We were nervous about driving 11 and a half hours with the baby and the dog but everything went surprisingly well. We loved Hilton Head and hope to rent from you in the future (maybe even this summer). Congratulations on your Girard HOF induction. Todd, Kristen, Brock, and Thunder

Hi Kris - Just wanted to send you a note regarding our stay at 70 Hilton Head Cabana. We really enjoyed our stay. The villa was certainly in a great location - we took advantage of the beach across the street as well as the shopping at Coligny Plaza and strolling around in Harbor Town. I certainly enjoyed the very nice swimming pool and beautifully landscaped courtyard area as well as the peace and quiet We were glad to be able to have our cocker spaniel, Daisy, with us on our trip and she and I enjoyed our walks around the complex, along the walkways and over to the beach. Hopefully, we will be returning to Hilton Head in the near future and would love to rent the villa from you again. Thank you for your help in making our trip so enjoyable. Patti Dancy

Hello Kris, We enjoyed our stay in your villa and greatly appreciate the fact that our dog Honey could enjoy it too. Your villa is a comfortable place to come home to after enjoying all the things to do in the area. The weather the week we were there was fantastic. We look forward to staying in your villa again in the future.

Hi Kris - Just got back from vacation and wanted to tell you that your condo was just great! It was very convenient to the beach/restaurants, very clean, quiet, and well-stocked with towels, dishes, etc. My two dogs loved the dog biscuits too! I left everything in order and the way I found it (except I left dishes in dishwasher since I didn't know if maintenance re-washes everything once I left)..... Thank you again and please let me know when I can expect the return of my deposit. Sincerely, David Cable

Hi Kris, Not only did I have the most spectacular weather, I really enjoyed my stay at 70 Hilton Head Cabana. I'm convinced that South Forest Beach is the best area to stay on the island. The trails are great for bike rides, and I spent some time kayaking, which I would recommend to anyone visiting Hilton Head. I hope to visit again in the fall.

Hi, sorry this is so late, my wife and her sister really enjoyed your villa. They said it was great. They enjoyed several visits with your neighbor, she invited them to her villa several times. They had a good time at Peckerheads, the food was good. We would be happy to stay with you again in the future. Thanks, Gil Kelly

Hi Kris, Just wanted to drop you a line to say what a great time we had in Hilton Head and surrounding area! We went to Sea Pines one day and walked on the trails. We took a boat cruise to see the dolphins out of an area near the Disney resort (can't think of the plantation name!), went to Savannah, GA and did a trolley car tour of the historical district (it was about 87 degrees!) and went to the Biltmore Castle on our way home. I know we did all the "touristy" kinds of things - but that's what we were! We spent several mornings at Java Joe's at Coligny Plaza and the bakery nearby. The weather was perfect the entire time. It started out in the 60's but quickly got into the 70's and even low 80's except for Savannah where it was much warmer. I picked up a real estate brochure and saw that there is a unit for sale at the Cabana's although there was no sign indicating one for sale. This has given us something to think about and thought we might ask some questions about the cost of condo fee's and the cost of heating/cooling/maintenance etc. If you don't mind sharing those details that is! Anyway, we had a blast - although we became "old people" while we were there! We were up very early in the mornings and in bed around 9:30 because it is so dark outside and so quiet! Thanks again and if we don't end up buying one of those units, we'll be renting yours again! Blessings, Elaine Gostick

Kris and Carla, We enjoyed our two-week stay at 70 Hilton Head Cabana. It was also great that our dog could come! Although the weather was "the coldest it's ever been in February" according to the locals, it was still warmer than what we left in Kansas! Thanks for a great time- the area was awesome, and we'll be back!!! Kelly and Harold
