Enjoy the gulf and sand dune views from this beach front home that borders Grayton Beach State Park. Matarangi is just a short walk from many funky and eclectic shops and restaurants. Redecorated and renewed in December 2010, this stunningly designed modern beach home offers the perfect accommodations for a family vacation with 6 bedrooms and 5.5 baths, sleeping 14 people. The sixth “bedroom” is a large kids TV/game room complete with built-in bunk beds. Enjoy our pristine white-sand beaches, the emerald green Gulf of Mexico or relax in your private heated pool (heating costs are additional). Nearby is Western Lake, a rare coastal dune lake that offers fishing, boating and swimming in calmer waters near the outflow into the gulf. Even though Matarangi is gulf front, the beach must be accessed via a sandy path through the Grayton Beach State Park, about 150 walking steps away.
Matarangi is centered around a large, second story, open family room with kitchen, living and dining areas overlooking Grayton Beach State Park, the beach and the gulf. Huge windows afford incredible sunset views. The family can gather on the large balcony off the family room which is equipped with ample Adirondack chairs, and a gas grill. Living area features a large sectional sofa, coffee table, sofa table, lamps and a wood-burning fireplace. Stocked with books, games and puzzles, TV, DVD, whole house stereo and wireless internet connectivity, you will never run out of things to do. The large dining table seats 10. The breakfast bar has 5 barstools as well. The open, well-stocked kitchen features a gas range, two dishwashers, microwave and Subzero frig with icemaker. There is a roof deck as well with more Adirondacks and the same beautiful views.
The King master bedroom is elevated and overlooks the dunes, beach and gulf. It has a platform bed, 2 lamps, chest of drawers, LCD TV, and a private bath with jetted tub, separate shower and double pedestal sinks. Four of the other bedrooms and a powder room come off a central hallway. Queen bedroom #1 has bedside table and lamp, chest of drawers, LCD TV, and a private bath with a jetted tub. Queen bedroom #2 has bedside table, 2 lamps, chest of drawers, TV/DVD and a private bath with tub/shower. Queen bedroom #3 has bedside table, lamp, side chair, LCD TV, and shares a bath with a tub/shower. Bunk bedroom shares the same bath and has one bunk (2 twins).
On the ground floor is the extra large kids TV/game room. This open room has 2 built-in bunks (4 twins), huge TV, stereo, DVD, sofa, side chair, coffee table, bathroom with shower, and ample dressers and built-ins for storage of personal items. There is also a washer and dryer in a closet in this room as well as a full bathroom with shower.
The 12 x 19 private heated pool is protected by the house. (Pool heating costs are additional.) Ample parking for at least 4 cars.

Pictures do NOT do this house justice! The view from the ENTIRE house is incredible. The home has been featured in national publications and was designed by a well-known architect in the area. You can tell that much time and care were put into the planning of the design of this home. It is very modern, yet still cozy and homey. The big couch is perfect for curling up and hanging out. You can WALK to the world-famous Red Bar, and all of the neighbors are so friendly you will never want to leave. After the view, the best part about the home is the artwork! The owner is an artist and much of the work is hers. I looked her up online because I want to find out how to purchase some of her work. This is a FAMILY home. I honestly felt like I was renting from friends because they had a photo album of pictures from when they were building the home that we looked through. I loved everything about this home. Each bedroom has a private bath, so it's perfect if you have a large family. The kids den downstairs is perfect!!
Recommended for:Tourists without a car, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We are a group of librarians, teachers and writers and we loved your collection of books. But we loved the view of the ocean and the sunset most of all. It beckoned us to go outside and walk along the beach. We also like the well equipped kitchen. Teenagers in our group loved the downstairs hangout and parents loved a separate space for them.

We are very depressed this morning that we have to leave this wonderful place! We have been plotting all morning on how we can overtake the property - squatter's rights maybe? You have such a wonderful house and what a great piece of property! We enjoyed our stay so much!! Everything is perfect here - don't change a thing. We had the best vacation of our lives and can't wait to return. As a chef, your kitchen was wonderful, the view while cooking was incredible!
