Clean, Safe, Cozy, and Beautiful

Guest: Megan K.
Date of Stay: 01/14/12 Review Submitted: 02/02/12

I stayed in this beautiful Montmartre apartment with a friend for eight nights in January, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an alternative to expensive, noisy Parisian hotels. The apartment was very clean and fully equipped with everything I needed (except for a hairdryer, which I could not locate). I enjoyed having the option of sleeping in and preparing a leisurely brunch for myself. There were several convenient bakeries, a nearby wine shop with a great selection, and a few smaller groceries which supplied anything I needed during the week. The furnishing was lovely, and I was kept warm and cozy, even during the winter. The wireless internet worked flawlessly the entire trip as well, which was an important feature for me as a writer who telecommutes. The only details that I would have appreciated some advance knowledge about were the following: (1) I didn't have the opportunity to meet Marianne, and this was disappointing after reading so many kind words about her and always receiving prompt replies to my emails. Instead, I was met at the apartment by Martine (who cleans the apartment) and, due to some communication glitches, she had to rush through the check in, which left me a little frazzled; and (2) the bed's mattress was a bit firmer than I prefer, which took a few restless nights to get used to. Even with these details, I would readily return to 12 Avenue Junot. It made the perfect home base for my week in Paris and provided a warm, welcoming, and memorable experience.

Owner response:Dear Megan. Thank you so much for the nice words and taking the time writing this review.I'm sorry we didn't meet this time,I always try to meet all our guests and juggle around with my work hours, cause I think it's an important part, we are not "pro renters",we both have jobs and are just dooing this on top so we can pay the home for Philippes mother.I had to work that Monday,I wish you had called me if there was any questions.I'm always avaliable on my cell phone. I think some guests by mistake have taken the hairdryer with them, so I have now bought a new one ,sorry for that, I did not realize it was gone.About the bed we have now bought a soft top matress, so guests who prefer a less firm bed can put it on and sleep tight ;-) I promise you Megan, next time I will check you in ;-) Kind regards Marianne

Seriously, You Won't Find a Nicer Apartment

Guest: Peter__ (Australia)
Date of Stay: 12/31/11 Review Submitted: 02/10/12

Well, maybe if you look, and look, and look, and look, maybe, just maybe there's a nicer apartment out there. But I doubt it. Do yourself a favour and stop wasting time and just book Marianne's. You will be completely satisfied. The location is great. I was originally looking for something a little closer in, but it was a complete non-issue: a) you're all of ten minutes (tops) from say, Opera by Metro or bus. Big deal. b) the local area is lovely and great to wander around. You can stroll to Sacré Coeur and Place du Tertre and all the touristy bits (you're a tourist - get over it), or head down to Rue Caulaincourt, a pleasant but somewhat more work-a-day area. The apartment itself is a delight. It was quite big enough for a family of four (children 13 and 10). It was comprehensively equipped, stylishly decorated and furnished, and very well maintained. We were there over New Years, and the it was more than adequately heated. It is on a courtyard, not on the street, so is very quiet. Marianne took great pains to meet us, get us settled in and orient us. My single grumble is that I found the mattress on the bed a little hard. Now I’m back home and I have post holiday blues and am terribly homesick for the flat on Avenue Junot.

Owner response:Dear Peter and Family Thank you so much for the nice words. I'm happy you enjoyed the apartment end the area.Montmartre is so special. We now have an extra soft top mattress to put on the bed if our guests prefer a soft bed.Till now we have had only positive comments on the bed but it is so indvidually how we prefer to sleep. Thanks for letting me know, like this we can make it even better. It was a pleasure meeting you and your family. Hope to see you all back one day Kind regards Marianne

A wonderful piece of Paris!

Guest: Christian (Sydney, Australia)
Date of Stay: 06/28/11 Review Submitted: 08/14/11

After a 30 hour door to door trip from Sydney it was wonderful to arrive at such a fantastic apartment! We were "at home" from the moment we arrived - this apartment has everything you need for a family of four - and we slipped into the Montmartre way of life very quickly. Ideally located to the sights of Montmartre and the Metro we spent 5 days exploring all Paris has to offer and then recharging our batteries each night in "our" little piece of Paris. This apartment is better than the photos, it has all of the character, books, maps, kitchen & bathroom supplies that you need to make your holiday both interesting & comfortable. I'm not sure when we will be lucky enough to be back in Paris but we will definitely return to Avenue Junot when we are.

Montmartre Gem

Guest: lindy w. (Victoria, BC, Canada)
Date of Stay: 06/12/11 Review Submitted: 07/25/11

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this apartment. The location is in a quiet neighbourhood of Montmartre, close to both buses and the metro. This spotless ground floor apt, located at the back of the building, is beautifully decorated with a simple but spacious layout. Kitchen facilities are superb. Plenty of pots and pans, cutlery, utensils (including some excellent knives) and dishes! A combo oven/microwave in addition to the stovetop, work perfectly - very conducive to shopping the markets and having a wonderful dinner at home. The large bedroom has a very comfortable king bed with nice linens and plenty of storage. The Italian tiled bathroom has a great shower with lots of hot water and thick towels. Equally important - the boulangeries, patisseries, cafes & grocery stores are mere steps away. Lots of very good restaurants keeps one in the "hood". A furnished courtyard is perfect for a morning cafe or dinner al fresco. Marianne is an absolutely delightful & charming host and very easy to deal with. On arrival, Marianne makes a point of explaining the workings of the apt and providing info on the surrounding area. Overall this apt was a perfect place to stay in Paris, very comfortable, inviting and definitely worth return visits - a gem! It is obvious that Marianne has made every effort make sure her guests will be happy with their choice. We would recomment this apartment without hesitation.

We have just returned from a week spent in this flawless apartment. Every possible requirement had been thoughtfully anticipated in this cool beautifully decorated and well equipped apartment. The apartment is situated minutes away from the metro which will take take you into central Paris and is only seconds from the shops and restaurants of Montmartre with it's village feel. The whole experience was a total pleasure from the initial booking to the time we left, and having to leave was the only problem, everything else was perfect!

Three of us spent 4 nights at this lovely Montmartre apartment. We were warmly welcomed on arrival. The property is in a very atmospheric area , a short stroll from the Sacre Ceour and the Metro station Lamarck. It is peaceful, light ,well equipped and very secure. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom is lovely and modern. The whole place was very tastefully decorated. There were loads of fluffy towels and even fluffy bath robes and slippers! Marianne, the owner, could not have been more helpful and hospitable. A perfect base for a stay in (my favourite area of ) Paris!

Date of Stay: 10/09/10 Review Submitted: 10/15/10

As a family of 4 adults, we have just stayed for 3 nights in this lovely apartment. Everything was beautiful, very clean and in perfect order and looked just as charming as on the photos. We also had a very warm and lovely welcome from Marianne . The location is perfect. Avenue Junot is a beautiful, peaceful, tree-lined avenue, away from the touristy centre of Monmartre but still near enough to explore within minutes. Very close (5 minutes) access to metro station. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby. I have already recommended to a friend and would love to come back.

My cousin and I enjoyed three wonderful evenings (October 06-09, 2010) in this delightful apartment. This apartment is charming as it appears in the photos. We received a very warm Welcome from Marianne and Martine. Everything was accessible. Such as the metro station (beware of the 122 steps, lol) restaurants and shops. This beautiful apartment comes highly recommended.

Date of Stay: 09/03/10 Review Submitted: 10/10/10

The quiet and very well-appointed Avenue Junot apartment is conveniently located in the heart of Montmartre close to a full range of shops, excellent restaurants, tourist sites and metro. All are within a short walking distance. Marianne’s bubbly personality and all her extra effort made the apartment truly special. She met us at the airport (especially welcome after a long flight) and drove us to the apartment. Here she introduced us to all the features of the apartment and the neighbourhood. Fresh flowers and a bottle of wine were awaiting us. Heaven!

Avenue Junot 12 was our home in Paris for 2 weeks. Although the apartment is located at the heart of Montmartre, it is very quiet and peaceful. Everything you need is available at the apartment and every day we enjoyed cooking our own diner in the excellent kitchen. Marianne, thank you for your warm welcome.

L'amour in Montmartre

Guest: The Pinks (Tyne and Wear, England)
Date of Stay: 07/04/10 Review Submitted: 07/13/10

If you are looking for a romantic hideaway in Paris, then I highly recommend this apartment. We spent our honeymoon here and we couldn't have wished for a more romantic apartment that you can completely relax in after a busy day sightseeing in Paris. The apartment has been rennovated beautifully and has everything you could need. Local ammenities are only a short walk away to get your morning croissants and coffee. The suburb of Montmartre is friendly and there are lots of local restaurants and bars to enjoy in the evening if you don't want to venture back to central Paris (the metro is close by if you do). It was great to meet the owner, Marianne, after all the helpful correspondance and she takes Customer Service to another level, with airport pick-up and drop-off's and a congratulatory bottle of champagne to welcome us. We would highly recommend this apartment.

Owner response:Thank you for the nice words !

I loved, loved, loved this apartment. Junot is a gorgeous, quiet, elegant street - great location, with plenty of good food to be found close by. The apartment was quiet, and cool (in the midst of a heatwave), such a delight to return to at the end of the day. The courtyard was a great place to eat in the evening. Would recommend it to anyone.

Date of Stay: 06/26/10 Review Submitted: 07/20/10

From the moment we arrived, we were graciously welcomed by Marianne who was waiting for us at 12 avenue junot. The apartment looked just like it did in all of the photos that we had seen prior to arrival. From the well appointed kitchen, living room and bedroom, to the peaceful neighborhood, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Local attractions, dining and cafes were all within walking distance and allowed for casual strolls around the neighborhood. Staying there, we felt the spirit of the neighborhood and felt more Parisian than the tourists we truly were. We look forward to out next visit!

A perfect week in Paris

Guest: AJ (Uganda)
Date of Stay: 06/20/10 Review Submitted: 12/27/10

This apartment was the perfect getaway for a girls' week in Paris. Marianne was an impeccably host, from her communication with us beforehand (we were coming from three different countries in Africa) to her care throughout the week. The apartment is stunning - light, airy, and with a large bedroom with a queen sized cozy bed, fully equipped kitchen, and comfortable living area. It even boasts an outdoor patio for your use. The apartment is spacious enough and tastefully decorated as well. Much attention has been placed to detail. It is located on a a quiet street, but within walking distance of cafes, restaurants, and the metro. Although it is located near Sacre Coeur in Montmartre, it is far enough away from the "touristy" scene to be in a genuine Parisian neighborhood. The apartment was spotless with all the amenities one could wish for - even coffee and a bottle of red wine! We hope to return.

We had a wonderful stay in Paris. This first floor (American) unit was beautifully decorated and had recently been renovated, with a lovely showered bath. Very open airy space located on a beautiful quiet residential street is located near convenient shops and restaurants. The Metro station is three blocks away. The owners were easy to communicate with via e-mail. Lovely apartment. We would stay here again.

Avenue Junot - an excellent apartment

Date of Stay: 05/15/10 Review Submitted: 05/21/10

My husband and I spent a week in Paris. Avenue Junot was exactly as described. It was a home away-from-home and provided all the amenities we were looking for. The apartment is very clean and updated, in the charming area of Montmartre. The area is quiet and very secure. We will definitely stay here again should we come back to this beautiful city. The apartment is a few minute walk to Lamarck-Coulaincourt Metro station (Line 12). From there you can get anywhere in the city relatively easily. On those days that you prefer to stay close to home, there are still plenty of bars, cafes, shops, boulangeries (bakeries) in the neighborhood. There is a supermarket in the neighborhood as well. We enjoyed strolling around Monmartre with no set destination. You never know what's just around the corner! We highly recommend it.

Owner response:Thanks Zouzou14 it was a great pleasure meeting you ,a bientot !

A flat that is well lovedWe visited Paris couple times a year and stayed in different apartments but the flat in Avenue Junot did really enlighten my time in Paris. You can tell Marianne and Philippe had given a lot of effort in maintaining a real home for visitors to come to Paris. The flat is nicely decorated, bright (albeit it’s on the ground floor) and the combination of the new and old had given you a warm and homely feeling. The flat is not only spotless but also well maintained and equipped while you could find everything you want in a kitchen. It is on the ground floor but you have to go through two doors with secure code and another door before you enter into the small patio before reaching the flat. The location of Avenue Junot is easily accessible by metro and there are a number of nice shops & restaurants on rue Caulaincourt (La Piazzetta Piu Grande – Italian, florist on no.56, supermarket - franprix) and the neighbourhood is so nice which makes your stay more enjoyable. It is a pity to see how people misused the knives (yet not a cheap brand) in the kitchen and cutting on the countertop while you could find the toolbox and cutting boards in the flat. I hope the people who are going to stay in the flat would be able to treat the things well as the flat is well loved by the owners – you can tell whether the flat is a happy one as you could feel the positive vibe when you are in the flat yet it’s not easy to find a flat with such a high standard that could fulfil someone as picky as me.We had not only received a warm welcome from Philippe upon our arrival but also being well taken care by Marianne on my check-out date as eurostar had suspended the service due to heavy snowing and my boyfriend had returned to London at the beginning of the work. Marianne had been so kind to offer in taking me to the airport in a snowy day. We look forward to stay in the flat upon our upcoming trip to Paris and thanks again for the kindness that you had extended.

Owner response:Thank you for the nice words,I'm glad you enjoyed your stay.kind regards Marianne

Avenue Junot - the perfect apartment

Guest: Calesa (Bath, UK)
Date of Stay: 11/28/09 Review Submitted: 12/07/09

The property at Avenue Junot is lovely, beautifully decorated and a lot of thought has been involved in making it a very special place to stay. We absolutely loved it! It is perfectly clean, spotless, and very very well kept, the light coming in through the large windows is beautiful. It is on the ground floor with windows to a inner court, so a very quiet location, although you are in the midst of a very busy area. It is a perfect location, fantastic place to come back at the end of a day exploring Paris. The final touch is the most lovely host, Marianne, who is extremely helpful and kind and makes you feel like you are coming to visit a friend! I will recommend this property to my friends or to anybody planning to spend time in Paris. The best boulangerie on Rue des Abesses is just round the corner (you will recognize it because of the large queue outside), and many good restaurants on Rue Lepic.

Spacious, very quiet, immaculately clean and very well located with everything within a short walking distance to everything . It was a fabulous base to visit Paris, for 2 weeks . Marianne was always more than happy to help with any inquiry or request. ( She really is very nice.) My wife commented that she was as comfortable in the apartment as she was at home. Enough said......... Highly Recommended.

Perfection in Paris

Date of Stay: 09/23/09 Review Submitted: 09/28/09

My husband and I have just returned from a 5 day break in Paris, having stayed at this fantastic apartment. It has everything you could possibly need or want .... and more! The location is perfect for exploring Paris as the nearest Metro is a short walk away, as are local shops and restaurants. Sacre Coeur is just up the road which is surrounded by bars and restaurants, although Avenue Junot itself is a peaceful haven to return to. Paris is our favourite city (we got engaged there) and have visited many times always staying in hotels, but we are so glad we booked this apartment and will never stay anywhere else again! Our hosts were charming, friendly and accomodating - they let us leave our luggage there as we had a late flight and even offered to take us to the airport. They have an information pack in the apartment and also give you helpful local information (eg make sure you wait for the lift when returning to the nearest metro as there are loads of stairs) Don't hesitate to book this apartment - it exceeded our expectations are we are planning our next visit.

My daughter and I stayed here and LOVED it! It was beautiful and perfectly situated for us. We debated on where to stay and we are very glad we chose Montmartre. We were only about 15 minutes from any of the tourist areas, but staying here felt like the Paris we wanted to see. This is a quiet and safe neighborhood, but it's close enough to walk to cafes, shops and the metro. We especially loved stopping at the markets to pick up groceries for dinner at night- cooking here made us feel even more at home. Marianne was great- I would definitely stay here again. (Hopefully soon!)

The apartment on Avenue Junot certainly lived up to expectations and even exceeded them. Totally charming and so beautifully furnished it felt like a real home. Our hostess could not have been more helpful. We would certainly return if we get the opportunity. Avenue Junot is an extremely quiet street but is only a short walk from the metro and all the attractions that Montmatre has to offer.

Outstanding Property- Best Vacation EVER!

We just wanted to let everyone thinking of staying at this property to BOOK IT!!! It was absolutely, without a doubt, the best holiday my husband and I have ever had. We were here mid-June of 2009 and are already planning our next visit. The apartment is even more lovely in person- every amenity you can think of is there. There are a million little touches - the current guidebooks to the city, plush bathrobes in the closets, and the extra pillows in the cupboards - all making the overall experience outstanding. Marianne and her husband were beyond hospitable, and helped us get our bearings once we arrived in Montmartre.I highly suggest having them pick you up from the airport if you are unfamiliar with the city...it can be a bit unnerving watching the drivers zooming in and out of traffic in the city.It was so amazing to sight-see in the city during the day, and retreat to our little oasis surrounded by beautiful homes, stores, and a park. We got to know a few of the neighbourhood spots quite well- the butcher, bakeries, and cafes are all wonderful. Anything else you needed was a short walk to the grocery store- pack lightly so you can shop, shop, shop! Again, we would like to thank our wonderful hosts so much, and we look forward to staying with them again soon. Kathy and Jason W.

Our stay in this lovely apartment was superb. Marianne & Philippe are great hosts. The apartment is the perfect size and the décor is soothing. It was so nice to come home to such a quiet place after the hustle & bustle of a day in Paris. The full kitchen, washer and Wi-Fi made for an easy 9 day stay for us. All the fresh bread and pastries, fabulous cheeses and roasted chicken you could ever want are within an easy walk from the apartment! There is also a charming inner courtyard with a table & chairs for enjoying a glass of wine after a busy day visiting the sites of Paris. We felt secure and comfortable our entire stay.

My wife and I stayed at Avenue Junot on our honeymoon in March/April 2009 as part of a fabulous trip to Paris. The apartment has everything you need, is clean, spacious and comfortable and is ideally located for all that Montmartre has to offer. The bed is particularly comfortable. We would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to visit Paris while staying in a peaceful part of the city. We'd also strongly suggest that people try the boulangerie Maison Laurent, just round the corner on rue Caulaincourt. Exceptional.

Weekend in Paris with mum and sister

Guest: Zippy125 (York)
Date of Stay: 03/20/09 Review Submitted: 03/24/09

We have just returned from a fantastic weekend in Paris, made all the better by our decision to stay in this fabulous apartment on Avenue Junot. The owners were welcoming and helpful without being obtrusive and it was lovely to be greeted by a lit & warm apartment and a bottle of wine late on Friday evening. The apartment was perfectly located for a weekend in Paris - the metro station was minutes away and there was a great local greengrocer and bakery so that we could wander out in the mornings and return with croissants and baguettes to enjoy in the apartment. Sacre Coeur was just a short stroll up the hill, as were the numerous bars and restaurants in the surrounding area. The apartment was brilliantly equipped with everything we needed for our stay, and more. The towels, bath robes and bed linen were all excellent quality and the apartment was beautifully furnished and decorated. We would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to all of our friends and will certainly be returning soon. Many thanks to Marianne and Phillip for making us feel so at home.

Marianne's apartment is exactly as advertised

We loved our 3 night stay in Marianne's apartment in March 2009. The apartment is exactly as it appears on the website. Clean, comfortable and convenient. It is just a couple of blocks away from the nearest metro stop, which is the Lamark stop. It is super quiet at night and was literally just a couple of blocks from the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, and the most amazing shops, restaurants and stores. We used Marianne's apartment as a home base to see the entire city: Notre Dame, Louvre, Versailles, Musee de Orsay, Arc de Triumph...we had a lovely time and a great stay. We had plans to use Marianne's wonderfully appointed kitchen but couldn't resist the call of so many choices and tastes that Paris has to offer. We would return to stay in Marianne's apartment in a heartbeat.

my husband and i stayed here for 8 nights last week and very much enjoyed our stay. we're so glad we chose to rent this apt (vs getting a hotel) for many reasons. it was like a home away from home: the neighborhood is quiet, close to the metro, the bed is super comfortable, the kitchen is fully stocked with all major appliances and plenty of dishes, cups, cutlery, silverware, etc. also, marianne was very helpful and even picked us up from the airport! the apartment is beautifully decorated, too, which i love. next time we're in paris, we're definitely staying here again.

This apartment has been recently renovated to a really high standard - it looks in real life exactly like the pictures. It was the cleanest place I have ever stayed - for all we knew we could have been the first people to stay there. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Montmartre and surrounded by lovely restaurants, cafes and shops - a great place to relax and watch the world go by. Marianne was lovely and could not have been more helpful! She really made us feel welcome and provided us with loads of local history and history of the apartment, which made our stay all the more interesting. I have recommended this property to friends.

We were in Paris for a short stay in late February. The apartment was beautiful and just as it is shown in the pictures. Marianne was extremely helpful and very gracious! After a long day of walking the streets of Paris (and the hills of Monmartre!) it was nice to come back to the cozy apartment and share a glass of wine. We will definitely be returning!

Just as Advertised

Perfect location. It was a quiet neighborhood and fun to explore, good grocery shopping, and fun to be so close to Sacre Coeur and the touristy area around it. The apartment was spotless, the beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen was fully equipped. Shower was great, internet access fast, and it was great to be able to return "home" rather than to a hotel room. Marianne was very helpful and a very pleasant person. We had our granddaughters with us (ages 9 and 12) and they loved having a place of our own, especially exciting for them to experience big city life with codes and buzzers at the building door and three locks on the apartment's door. The dining table provided a great place to eat, use the computer, and have family fun. We went to the top of the Eiffel Tower on New Year's Eve; what an exciting way to start the new year. We had snow twice but being from Utah, that wasn't a show stopper and it was pretty!

Wonderful Montmarte Apartment

Guest: Visitor to Paris (St Louis Missouri USA)
Date of Stay: 11/18/08 Review Submitted: 12/15/08

The Paris visit was the perfect trip, cold weather and all. We stayed at 12 Junot, a flat in Monmarte not far from Sacre Coeur and within walking distance of the Metro, 3 bakeries, green grocers, confectioners, a butcher, a cheese store and many cafes and shops. The apartment was incredible, as were the owners. It had just been remodeled, everything worked like it should, the bed was more comfortable than my own and it was furnished in lovely taste. The fridge had mineral water and champagne, there were fresh flowers on the dining table and books about Paris in several languages. We had only one meltdown and it was of our own making. Our host fished us out of a mess involving a rail trip reservation made on the next day rather than 10 days later. He, of course, spoke French. We, of course, did not. I’m looking forward to staying there on our next trip because there will be a next trip, Thank you for everything M. and P.. Susan

Perfect location in Paris, quiet residential street just blocks from the Sacre Coeur Basilica and an easy walk to great cafes, boulangeries, etc. Access to the rest of Paris is easy via the close Metro stop. We had a fabulous time here, everything you could want from a vacation rental in Paris. The bed was ultra comfortable, the location was quiet and peaceful, and the owner was wonderfully helpful with everything. Conveniences such as blazing fast Wi-Fi Internet access and free phone calls to the States were also highly appreciated. We will *definitely* be back to this place. Thanks!
