Paradise!

To celebrate our 10th anniversary, my husband and I chose to get away from it all at Rose Hill. It was heavenly - the house is spotlessly clean and filled with amenities and homey-touches galore. From the well designed and equipped cook's kitchen, to the eclectic music collection and comfortable beds, we couldn't have asked for a more peaceful and relaxing place to enjoy each other's company.

Nicely remodeled with old world charm Farm House

We (5 adults) had a wonderful time at Rose Hill Home from November 18, 2011 to November 20, 2011. From the day I started to reserve the farm house, the owner Carolyn was very hands on. She emailed me several times about useful information around the area. The farm house is nicely remodeled with old world charm. Very neat and clean. The farm house is very close to historic down town Lexington, VA, Natural Bridge, several Antique Malls, and a Super Wal-Mart. I really loved the remodeled kitchen and we cooked both nights. They have all the equipment you need, so all you have to bring is just groceries! It was a nice and calm treats for a busy family from DC Metropolitan area. We would definitely come back!!

We had a wonderful time at Rose Hill! It’s absolutely beautiful and relaxing. I found myself forgetting I was away from my home – it had every convenience and was so clean and well keep. Joyce does a great job of caring for the house and your guest.

Exceeded our expectations. Delightful home with every amenity you could possibly want in a home away from home. Beautiful rooms. A feeling of history surrounds you that the modern updates don't detract from. We are already planning our next visit. Hated, hated, hated to leave. The owners are a delight to deal with. Do not hesitate to book your next vacation here.

A wonderful experience

Our four days at Rose Hill were incredible. The scenery is as picturesque as it comes, and the driveway in to the house has panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. We were in town for a horse show at the Virginia Horse Center, and were pleasantly surprised to find that it was only a 15-minute car ride door to door. So much care has gone in to the upgrades and interior design of the house. The kitchen is brand new, and perfectly appointed. All of the appliances are high-end Kenmore Elite. The kitchen has been organized by an avid cook-it is so easy to navigate. Every tool, from baking supplies to salad spinners to colanders, are at your fingertips. The sunporch was our favorite room to lounge in. It has a beaucoloic view of the surrounding pastures, and we even watched the calves frolicing in the fields. The sunporch is thoughtfully decorated in rose and sage colors, which are very soothing. A mix of antiques and more modern furniture makes the entire home warm and inviting. The bathrooms are also new, and very modern. They have a spa-like feel to them. Moreover, the entire house is spotless. I had my toddler there, and she crawled around the entire downstairs for four days. Her knees and hands were immaculate. Not like at home! The exterior is in great shape, and the lawn was freshly mown. The owners supply a nice gas grill, and there is a patio table and chairs under a tree, which makes a perfect place for outdoor dining. Finally, all dealings with the owner and manager were ideal and friendly. I am so excited to return to Rose Hill. I think it may become a family tradition, because it is already a family favorite.

Great week in a beautiful home!!

It is seldom that you find a place that is so much more than expected. The description and reviews (good as they are) do not do justice to the home or the experience. We spent a week in May 2010 and found it delightful. Our wives hiked on the Appalachian Trail each day and the guys golfed and/or went fishing each day. The trail was close at hand and the golf courses were top-notch. Each day on our drive up the lane we would see deer, turkey and some uncommon birds. The house is very, very well appointed.(It lacks nothing!) The house manager was very friendly. She met us when we arrived and gave us a tour that was helpful. The house is exceptionally clean. One of us was ill and spent the whole day in the house in a pair of white socks and that evening he showed the rest of us that his white socks were still clean on the bottoms. To sum it up, we had a wonderful week, and we will return to Rose Hill.

Sisters Weekend Getaway

Guest: Diane T (Cincinnati)
Date of Stay: 04/28/10 Review Submitted: 05/13/10

My sister and I stayed at Rose Hill for a long weekend and absolutely loved it. It is a beautiful home that is large but homey and tastefully decorated yet very comfortable and inviting. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need and was spacious. We loved sitting on the sun porch and enjoying the views and the peacefulness of it all. We loved the location of this home as it is very central to Lexington, Charlottesville, Roanoke, etc. If we visit this area again we would stay at Rose Hill. Carolyn was also very pleasant to work with. Thanks for opening your home to visitors!

Excellent value, excellent service

We stayed at Rose Hill for two nights for a quick getaway to the country. Carolyn (homeowner) and Joyce (manager) were both very friendly and made the process of reserving the house very easy. The house itself is absolutely beautiful, well kept and well decorated. The sunroom was by far my favorite place to be, whether it was to eat breakfast while watching the calves play around in the fields, or to enjoy a glass of wine with the sunset. The home is also conveniently located, only 15 minutes or so to downtown Lexington, and within easy driving distance of great hiking opportunities such as Goshen Pass and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Given the size and quality of the property, the overnight fee is an excellent value when compared to other vacation rentals in Virginia. Can't wait to go back!

Dick and Frannie Love this Home

We ditto all the above comments and would add just two more. The owner is genuinely interested and concerned that the tenants are happy, comfortable, and are receiving what they expected. The manager is an angel as well. Secondly, more than once we decided to forego all the tourist stuff and spent the day reading, snacking, napping and communing with the cows. Our stay was two weeks and we were not ready to leave. Rose Hill is very "recommendable"!

My family and I stayed at Rose Hill for VMI Parents Weekend 2009. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. Being "city folk" it was wonderful to escape to such a beautiful and well kept home that felt remote, but only a few minutes from downtown. Additionally, the convenience of being able to provide a home-cooked meal for our cadet was priceless. The house and property were beautiful, I took more pictures daily on the drive up and down the driveway than anywhere else on our trip. Thank you for a wonderful vacation, and a wonderful place to make a home away from home for our cadet, even if for just a few days.

Our stay at RoseHill was a delightful one, The house and property is alive with history and beauty. The surrounding cow pastures kept us interested and entertained watching for wild turkey, ground hog, and deer. Guest Comment August 8, 2009We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rose Hill Farm in August. The house was a delight; beautifully decorated, well-equipped, and charming. Each morning, we went downstairs to sit in the sunroom and watch the cows come down the hill. After only two days, we felt we were beginning to recognize the different cows. The bulls were easy to spot. There seemed to be a pregnant cow among the herd, and an older, graying cow would always station herself in front of the pregnant one, as if protecting her. We came to Rose Hill for the nearby hiking, and we also thoroughly enjoyed that part of the trip. The second day, we hiked up to the Devil’s Marbleyard, where our teenagers scrambled up the huge boulders like mountain goats. We watched and laughed from solid ground below the boulder field.Rose Hill’s charms are already calling us back. We hope to visit in the spring when the rhododendrons and mountain laurel are in bloom, in the fall when the leaves turn, and in the winter when the snow is falling (though we’ll use our 4-wheel drive vehicle to navigate the driveway in snow!). Guest Comment June 2, 2009 We visited Rose Hill Farm for our daughter's graduation from Washington & Lee. The setting is beautiful and we particularly enjoyed sitting outside under a large tree to watch the sun set. This beautiful farm house is in a wonderful location, convenient to W & L and VMI, and a great place for families or couples to stay. We have known this farm for years and are thrilled that it is now available to rent. The kitchen and sun porch are recently updated and great for entertaining or relaxing. The two bathrooms have also been updated. We have tried to find something to improve about this place, but it's nearly perfect, a real slice of paradise just minutes from Lexington!

Comment Text: Relaxing and Memorable Family Vacation! Our family shares fun memories of our time at Rose Hill. Our vacations here have been some of the best we have had. Rose Hill is very comfortable and provides everything needed to relax. We have spent many afternoons reading and playing games on the beautiful sun porch while watching the cows graze in the meadows. Sunsets from the hillside are breathtaking. The newly remodeled kitchen makes cooking on vacation fun. We highly recommend this vacation rental. The historic and natural beauty of Rose Hill make it a unique experience. The owners are very helpful with lots of local knowledge and were a pleasure to do business with. We hope you enjoy your vacations here as much as we enjoy ours. We will be returning for more fun memories.

Lovely spot in historic part of country. Rose Hill is a warm, comfortable farmhouse nestled among beautiful hills and stunning landscape. Was rare and special treat to stay here and added a "total immersion" aspect to the experience of visiting the many nearby historic and important venues so closely tied to the early history of our country. I shall return to take in the sights and sounds of "living" on this splendid historic farm as I continue to explore the area! SK Morrison, Weston, CT.
