Keywords: Farmhouse with Attached Barn
This Saltwater Farmhouse is a classic 130+ year-old clapboard house with attached barn on 80 private acres, including woods and a hay field gently sloping to the rocky Maine coast. Reminders of its days as a working farm can be found in the carefully maintained barn, including stalls and antique farm equipment. Bicycles of all sizes, ping-pong, croquet, badminton and lawns large enough for soccer and baseball games will provide plenty of "at home" activities. Cooking out can be on the deck or a short walk to grill on the rocks.
Located on St. George Peninsula between the fishing villages of Tenants Harbor and Pt.Clyde, you are only a short distance from popular restaurants, kayaking, fishing, sailing, hiking, beaches, movie theaters, antique & novelty shops, Marshall Point Lighthouse, which was seen in the movie Forrest Gump, and ferries to nearby scenic islands. In nearby Rockland, the Farnsworth Museum with its collection of Wyeth paintings , is well worth a visit.
The farmhouse has 6 bedrooms, so there's plenty of room for family & friends. The dining room seats 10-12 for fun family dinners. The living room's lovely natural light make this a cozy room for quiet reading by the fireplace. A forced air furnace keeps you warm on cool Maine evenings. The back deck is just the place to begin your day, as you look across the hayfield to the ocean. Watch the local lobstermen as they check out their traps, then head into town to pick up fresh lobster for dinner.
The farmhouse can be your base as you explore the beautiful state of Maine, including Acadia Park to the north and Freeport with infamous L.L.Bean's to the south.

Perfect weather. Family here from 9 mo. to 89 years. What a glorious place to make and share memories. The week before we arrived we found that folks we know used to come here in the 90’s for Thanksgiving.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful acreage with us. Two rounds of ‘capture the flag’ with the whole family. Loads of fun and hiding places. All the local merchants are so friendly & helpful. Thank you for sharing your house with us. The field and shore are truly amazing; love how the field smells and the stones walls…reminds me of my childhood summers. We loved the trails and the children loved the tree house. August 09

July 30,09 What more can I say about this magical place? Theo & Abby call it their ‘other house’. This year was different because we had our puppy, who chased a turkey across the field on her first adventure down to the rocky shore. Watching her explore all week was a full addition. Market Basket in Rockland was a nice discovery. This was the 6th year that we’ve celebrated Delilah’s birthday here; love that we’re always here when it happens. Friends visited last year and had fun exploring Pt. Clyde and the property with them. Girls did some antiquing; boys visited the railway museum in Boothbay. Drift In Beach, sailing on the Appledore, ice cream in Pt. Clyde, lots of books, lots of artwork and a talent show in the barn. Lobsters, of course, biking , the Lighthouse…wow! What a long week! See you next summer.

July 16, 09 Really enjoyed our stay. Best were sea kayaking with Cody, chatting with the lobstermen at the General Store, kids playing and making friends with the lobsters, ferry ride to Monhegan, sitting on the deck and living room reading. So lucky to have one day of rain during our week. Wonderful place for a large group.

Thank you for time at this ‘family’ farmhouse. Did you ever see the movie “The Dining Room”? AS we sat here at the dining room table or in the kitchen, the scenes continually changed with members of the family 4 mo.-82 years of happy age. And then the wonderful walks thru the field to the ocean. Thank you for ‘places’ like this. B.

April-May 2009 "We’ve run out of words to say what this place means to us. After 17 years our month in Maine is still so special. The farmhouse welcomes us back with a sense of timelessness that is rare in today’s world. Thank you for sharing the peace and solitude. We’ll be back next year." - The CarpentersApril 2009 "The area of St. George & Rockland have shown change but the farmhouse remains a great place to be. Our family has spent Easter here the last few years. It has become a special place with lasting memories for us. The weather was great all week.. 50’s and 60’s. We did a lot around the property and took some trips. Hope to be back soon." - The Dempsons (Fran is now 9)July 2008 "This is the third year that we have been here and we love it. Sunny weather most of the week, so bike rides and going to the beach were what we did most. Walks down to the rocks were a favorite. I love it here!" - Jonathon Markett with the SmithsJuly 2008 "So…four or five years and it is still like a special surprise. This was the second year that we had our own lobster dinner outside, with makeshift tables and seating…lots of fun. Puppet shows on the stage, Abby’s aquarium show, the kids rode bikes everywhere and battled pirates on the shore. Perfect week at Drift-In Beach with a day at Popham Beach added in. Lots of Dip Net, ice cream. Owl’s Head Museum was a hit. Sailing in Camden was a super adventure. Love love it here." - The CampbellsJuly 2008 "We found the perfect place to start our life together on this farm. Sunny skies and bald eagles flying overhead as I met Dan and our guests to exchange our vows. Then the barn was filled with warmth as we shared laughs and tearful toasts with family & friends. I’ll never forget seeing all those stars in the sky and the moon peeking through the barn doors. What a peaceful beginning to our life together." - Mr & Mrs. Benjamin RussJuly 2008 "Thank you for your generous hospitality. What a perfect place to celebrate Independence Day. Annette & I will take some wonderful memories back to CA with us. It’s been a delightful experience, one we will not soon forget." - Joan SamsonMay 2008 "We had a wonderful stay and a beautiful perfect wedding. Thank you so much for sharing this spectacular spot with us. It was great to be able to share our weekend with our family around us . All of the guests were in awe o

We stayed at the farmhouse for two weeks this summer and although we didn't have much sun, it was wonderful. We worked around the house, putting in a new garden, having one side of the house painted, setting up satellite TV, working in the barn to fix the basketball hoop. We loved eating out at Cod End, missed the DipNet terribly but enjoyed seeing Scott. Loved seeing Aunt Cindy and Nat and the Tinsleys. Went to the movies on cold foggy days, snuggled up & read a lot. Loved every minute!
