We stayed here in feb for only one night. The first thing you see is a note saying that if you write a positive review of the place, they'll give you a $40 Starbucks card. I believe in honest reviews and won't be bribed. Everything was built cheaply and is falling apart. The owner apparently lives in another part of the island and relies on a neighbor to clean, greet, etc. she's a very nice lady, but service isn't what you'd expect. There is no air conditioning or heating. It rains alot and the humidity is in everything with the windows open. There's a large herd of wild pigs that have torn up the yard and trail to the waterfall. They make noise all night beating around the fruit trees. The frogs are incredibly loud. The only running water in our unit was in the bathroom. It was inconvenient that you had to go to a separate building to even make coffee. The pool was dirty and cold. The shower head leaks when you use the tub. Curtains are falling down. Overall, just not a well kept place. Difficult to get to- don't try it after dark. There were standing puddles in the driveway that nearly consumed our car. We had to clear branches off the road before we could leave due to a storm. If you like rustic, this is for you.

We stayed in the Aloha Suite for 3 nights. Although the photos were accurate, the suite was sparsely furnished, the bathroom was hard to use because the door opened into the sink, and there was only an old wooden bench for sitting outside. The couch/day bed in the living room was uncomfortable. The suite appeared to be in the process of being remodeled or was just never completed. The pool was being filled when we arrived and there was no outdoor lighting or poolside seating, so we never used the pool. Overall an OK place, but our money could have been better spent elsewhere.

I brought my girlfirend here for a romantic get away, and we absolutely loved it! She was very happy to be in Hawaii, and very sad that we had to say goodbye! I found the Luxurious Waterfall and Pool Resort here on VRBO and was very pleased that I did. Office staff was great, friendly and very helpful and patient with us! The Suite site was beautiful! There was a very country feel, and we loved it! Not too much noise, beutiful scenery, & well made suites! Would recommend and surely return for possibly a honeymoon!

I absolutely loved this place and I would definitely come back again and again! Its kind of like being in the country! Best part ever when your on a getaway and dont want the noise of traffic, planes and other non sense bothering you. The suite we stayed in was the Wailea Suite, breath taking! everything that was expected! Office staff is very knowledgeable in giving directions and details! Didnt get no "I dont know, Im not sure" answers from them! Although I didnt get to check out the waterfall I believe that it was as beautiful as the pictures! Very much recommend this to anyone!

My brother & I stayed in the Aloha suite which is a one bedroom suite but there was a day bed in the living room which I slept on & might I say it was very comfortable. We spent a lot of our time in Hilo town, which wasn't too far from our house. We also spent a day at HVNP, which took us about an hour to get there from our suite but we did stop to get a bite to eat on the way. I think the most enjoyable parts of this vacation home were the scenery, the peacefulness, and the home sweet home feeling you get from this suite. The house was great, the Island was awesome, & the people are pleasant.

This suite is more of a country style suite. It was a step out of the city life for us into more of a relaxing Haven. To get to the waterfall was a bit of a challange but was well worth it. There is a beach park just about 5 minutes down the street which we enjoyed on our stay. There are also many food places just about 10 to 15 minutes away. I would recommend a Mexican restraunt that we really enjoyed right on the main street in Hilo town. It was a great experience for us, although we didn't get to spend much time in our suite, the time we did get to spend we enjoyed!

My husband and I just wanted something nice for our honeymoon without the NICE price! When we saw this listing on VRBO we were shocked to see the rates. I even contacted the owner's to make sure it was the correct rates. Our stay was a very memorable one, it was our honeymoon and my first time swimming under a waterfall! All I can say is that this was a trip to remember!!!

We had actually visited the west side of the island before we came to the east side, so we had a long drive and were just totally exhausted. When we arrived at the house all we wanted to do was hit the sheets and with such an easy check in that's exactly what we did. All we needed were our key codes and directions. The beds were so comfy & we had lots of pillows & blankets. The next day was when we really got to experience all this property offered. We walked around the yard which was huge & we ate fresh fruits that we have never had before. We took a walk to the waterfall which was absolutely breath taking! & then we spent the evening hanging out by the pool & cooking out. It was just amazing!!!

This vacation was exactly what we needed. We arrived late in the evening, but because of the excellent directions we were given we found the property with no problem. When we walked into the suite we were amazed at how berautifully furnished the suite was. However, when I woke up the next morning and saw the view I got to feel of what is would be like living in Hawaii and it was breathtaking. The caretaking couple living on site were very pleasant when we saw them and everything was just lovely. Mahalo nui loa for sharing your beautiful home with us!

We decided to stay at the Hamakua house for my daughter's 6th birthday. We couldn't have made a better choice. My daughter is already asking if we can come back for her next birthday. She really enjoyed the pool, while my husband and I enjoyed the scenery. This house was way better than what I expected (especially because the affordable room rates). Thank You, Thank You, Thank You Wainani Staff!!!

A very memorable honeymoon! We have been to Oahu so many times and decided to come to Hilo for our honeymoon and there were absolutely no regrets. The customer service was excellent and the home was beautiful. The girls in the office helped us with recommending activities and even offered a guide for their recommended places to eat, visit, etc. Thank you to the Wainani Staff!

My sister & I went on a mini-vacay. We live on the opposite side of the island in Kona & we just wanted to get away for a few days. We stayed in the Aloha suite, which was beautifully furnished & perfect for the 2 of us. I really liked the outdoor kitchen, we ended up making friends while we were there, thanks to this kitchen unit. The pool was extremely refreshing, especially since the whole time we were there it was beautiful! For the price of this suite it was a great deal!

A great vacation! We had arrived on the island on the last flight, got our rental car, grabbed a bite to eat and some groceries, and arrived at the property later that evening. The suite was beautiful! But, when we woke up and saw the view it was amazing. I could actually hear the waterfall from the lanai. Thanks for a great stay. The Crenshaws

My stay was absolutely gorgeous!! I recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation away from the hustle and bustle. Place was great, friendly staff that recommended plenty to keep me on the go! I was told this was going to be the rainy season but I did not see a drop of rain, I went to the rainforests and everything was lush. I met a couple that had been vacationing for a month and they said that there has been plenty of sun but a few rains here and there. Thankfully I did not encounter any VOG, something else I was told about.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon here and although the surroundings were beautiful the longer we stayed the more problems became evident. The pool filter system failed around day 5 of our 10 day stay and never was repaired while we were there. The water became murky and we were afraid to swim in it. The ad here specifies "adults prefered" but we had 2 sets of families next door with more than 2 children each time. The apartment next door has a African drum set which we were subjected to hearing every afternoon for 3 nights. We had to ask for toilet paper of all things! The BBQ propane tank was NEVER filled up and half way thru our much anticipated first BBQ the bottle was empty ~ not good. To make matters worse there was no lighting outside and the tiki torches were empty as well. We tried to contact the owners 4 times to aks for tiki torches , propane, and to have the pool fixed, and were met with a stone wall. Our questions were NEVER addressed AND our cleaning fee was deducted from our credit card the day we arrived.! I never ask for that until the last day here at my suite. The waterfall ~ oh ya ~ what a joke that was ~ no way for two 50 plusers to get down to it except for a "rope" looking strong enough for a cupole of 60 lb children to hold on to.I am pretty sure that is NOT a picture of the warerfall on the property as well. Our conclusion ~ ~ absent landlord, refuses to take responsiblity, doesnt care about clients or his staff... and ~ cheap cheap cheap! I am also a VRBO landlord and this landowner makes me feel embarassed to be part of this site. Hawaii is a beautiful place and the landlord is counting on you forgeting his shortcomings becuase of it ~1.......my advise ~ go elsewhere

This was our first trip to Hawaii and my wife and I were really looking forward to our stay at this property since this waould be our first time swimming in a waterfall and let me just say it did not dissapoint! We were expecting to do a lot of driving to different parts of the island that we wanted to explore but because the property was so beautiful we ended up staying on site more than we anticipated. We have already booked our next trip and will stay in the Wailea Suite again.

My wife & children couldn't stop ranting and raving about how awesome this place was! The pool was refreshing, especially with the humid weather. We got to take a walk down to the waterfall and we got some great pictures to bring back home with us. Everyone enjoyed themselves very much!
