We took our 5 children and their spouses along with our 4 Grand children, and 3 other family members. All 19 of us were quite comfortable and had a great time. Every thing on the property was in good working order( except the hand rail is loose from the middle floor to the top floor, better check that out ). All appliances and plumbing worked great (lots of very hot water) and were very functional. We also had 4 small kids and the stairwells are steep. Please make sure you have some type of gate. Overall this was a great place and a terrific value. I don't think you can find a better value for a large group any where in the area, and everything is very close. Kudos to Jerry and Bonnie. We'll be back.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Our small group from church came up for a weekend retreat. This included adults and kids and it was great set up as most family units were able to have their own room. We had plenty of space to mingle and play. The cabin was clean and basic. The kids loved being able to run free out back in the gated yard. Having 4 bathrooms was extremely helpful too with our sized group. A walk to the lake was only about 10-15min and it was a beautiful walk through the neighborhood. Plenty of parking for our group was an added bonus! And best of all, the price was right, making it affordable for families and college/young adults to afford coming that weekend! Jerry, the owner, was amazing to work with and very accommodating. My only major suggestion would be, if you have young walkers/crawlers, bring a couple kiddie gates for the 2 stair wells. They are steep and potentially precarious to little ones. Tip: This may be something the owner would love to keep on hand for renters convenience as well.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.
Owner response: That is a great recommendation. Why didn't we think of it. We are arranging to have baby gates installed now. Thx so much. Jerry and Bonnie.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house provided sleeping space for everyone and we have a great view of the surrounding woods and mountains from the two house balconies. The house provided for all of our needs and we were able to have some great barbecues. The cool nights made sleeping wonderful. My grandchildren loved all the forest creatures they saw around the property and along the hiking trails that were a very short walking distance from the house. The house was close to all the many activities in the area but far enough off the main roads to be very quiet. The neighbors around the house were very friendly and informative about the activities in the area. Jerry was very helpful and informative during the entire rental process. It was a great vacation and my children and grandchildren look forward to staying at Big Bear Lake again. I would recommend this property to my family and friends.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

The property was clean, comfortable and spacious, and the big thing for our group was that the price was unbeatable. A huge plus was that Jerry was easy to work with and very accommodating to our needs. The pictures are accurate and give you a good sense of what to expect, and they have a floor by floor layout to help you plan the sleeping arrangements more easily.Did you find this review helpful? Jerry is definitely a pleasant person to work with! He made it possible for us to plan a Big Bear snowboarding trip for a large group of young adults at an excellent price. At a time where everybody is tightening their belts, it was great to be able to get away from our everyday lives for a small vacation on a budget. There was plenty of space to spend time as a group or getaway and have some privacy. Very cental location, the house was not too far away from local restaurants and grocery stores (approx 2 miles) and a quick drive to Big Bear Mountain as well. You must be prepared to bring your own linen and towels but pillows and blankets (similar to fleece blankets) are provided. You may need to bring extra blankets depending how you handle the cold. The driveway is pretty steep so be careful when backing out your vehicle. Overall, a wonderful experience and would absolutely would rent again.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We had a great friend and family reunion here!!! We were sooo EXCITED to find an affordable place that was nice too, it’s homey, comfortable and clean! Loved the huge porch on the 2nd and 3rd level. We loved finding this place because we have a friends/family reunion so each family has 3-5 ppl per family, so it was wonderful to find a house that not only had 6 bedrooms but that had beds and sleeping accommodations for 4-6 + ppl in each room. Cooking was great in a very well stocked, large kitchen. Location was good, we went to the lake, zoo, and more all within 10 minute drive. The only heads up I would add to the description of the property is we were VERY upset to find that one bedroom does not have a door. It looks as if it was more of a den that was converted to a bedroom and it just has a curtain draped across the opening to act as a door. We have multiply family that meet up so it was disappointing to find out that someone had to be stuck in a room that really does not have privacy! I would rent house again, but I would look at it as a 5 bedroom house with another room that you could be used to throw kids in to sleep or people that do not care about privacy or hearing the noise in the house. That aside WONDERFUL WONDERFUL vacation!!!!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers.
Owner response: This main floor has the living room, dining area, full sized kitchen, and the one bedroom commented on by our guest. This main floor is where guest go to mingle when they aren't in their bedrooms. Because the doorway to this bedroom is about seven feet wide, it allows for overflow from the other rooms and provides space where guests can freely walk about and divide into smaller groups for conversations or other reasons. For large groups this is a valuable and desired asset. We frequently have coed groups from youth organizations. This “open” bedroom allows chaperones to insure that boys and girls don’t mix. Finally, we direct virtually everyone to our web site to make their reservations. On that site there is a floor plan that has all the bedrooms diagramed. It also shows the type and size of beds in each room. It shows the enlarged doorway and that it doesn’t have a normal hard door. There is not enough wall space to allow for a pocket door. A curtain was the only way to solve the problem and maintain the utility of this space. There are very few large chalets and even fewer licensed for so many guests in Big Bear. This mingling space is unique to large groups, especially when it is ten degrees outside. I agree with this guest that the curtain doesn't offer the privacy that a couple may want or need. This is the first negative comment that we've ever received from a guest about it. Hopefully this review will clear this matter up for future guests and we thank this guest for helping with this subject. This guest left the chalet nice and neat and is the exact type of guest we need and want. We hope they will come back. Though this review was for a stay in 2010, they did rent it again this winter. Thx, Jerry.

Had a wonderful weekend in Big Bear at this cabin. It's homey, comfortable and super clean! Loved the view of the mountains from inside the Master Bedroom and the Living Area (and from both balconies). Enjoyed cooking (& baking) in the well stocked, large kitchen. The beds were comfortable and there was an ample supply of pillows and blankets. The owners informed us of everything we would need to know. It is located 10 minutes from Big Bear Village. Most importantly EVERYTHING was clean!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

This was an answer to our prayers! We surprised my parents for their 50th Anniversary by secretly arranging a get-together in Big Bear with some of our favorite family friends. Yep, 18 of us locked up together in this cabin for the weekend...and it was great! The cabin was nice, roomy and comfy. We had a wonderful time and would rent from Jerry again in a heartbeat! (What a nice guy!) A few random observations: the kids loved eating out on the porch; there are some really cool-looking beetles in the area; the driveway is really steep so take it slow; don't try to walk up the driveway when you're pregnant, carrying a big cake and wearing slippers; there's no shade at the lake and they charge admittance per person; the living room couches are super comfy and put people to sleep if they aren't careful; if you want a sharp kitchen knife, you probably should bring your own; it's great having so many bathrooms; the drive to Big Bear isn't that fun for those of us who get carsick; there are a lot of stores and restaurants very close by so if you forget something, chances are good that you can find it somewhere up there; whoever invented the electronic key system deserves kudos; and being able to stay all together in the same house really made our weekend as enjoyable (and convenient) as possible. Thank you, Jerry and Bonnie, for enabling us to have such a great time together.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1989
About the owner: We've lived in Southern California ever since being married 43 years ago. We've owned this property since 1989 and recently remodeled it. We love the Big Bear area and the fact that it is a four season resort.
Why the Owner Chose Big Bear City:
It is a four season resort that is close to all the great vacation spots in Southern California. It's close to beaches, amusement parks, and mountains.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We are ten minutes to either of the ski slopes, the village shopping area, marinas, national park, trail heads, wilderness walk, and many other attractions.
Okay, everyone knows about snow skiing but few know about mountain biking. In the summer ride the ski lifts to the top of the hill and bike down. Hang on, it's fantastic.
We love the beautiful mountain and lake views, driving all the way around the lake, lake side restaurants, pontoon boats, fishing, and shopping. We like to eat at the ski loges and the energy infused atmosphere there. Big Bear has a great performing arts pavilion which has contributors from nearby Hollywood. The quality of live entertainment is unexpected, but superb.
