Just 5 minutes outside the heart of Gig Harbor and 15 minutes from the Narrows Bridge is Sunrise Beach. The view is so beautiful that it takes your breath away! The Sunrise Beach enclave of 22 homes was established at the turn of the century. It was accessable only by boat until 1960.
Originally built in 1924 at the water's edge the home was completely remodeled in 2006. It boasts a beautiful kitchen with large great room all with 180+ degree views of the Puget Sound. The home has slate floors, granite counters and stainless appliances. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and the second bedroom has bunk beds which are un-stackable. Large comfy couch can sleep two and Aerobed inflatable mattress in the closet for larger groups. Large bathroom with two sinks, double headed slate shower and washer and dryer. Detached large two car garage with tv/bonus area in the back. Great getaway for the kids. This garage has no facilities but has two convertible futon couches. The home's large wrap around deck is right on the bulkhead! Full under cover outdoor couch on the deck summer months with infrared heaters to let you enjoy the beautiful view longer.
At low tide there are miles of walking beaches each direction to collect shells and other treasures. At high tide the water gently splashes against the bulkhead. Sunrise Beach county park is a short walk away. The best diving spot in the area with a 30-60 foot deep reef running 200 feet along the shore (Google Sunrise Beach WA Diving). Dive boats drop divers most weekends at the reef - fun to watch or join them. A Buoy for mooring your boat.
Feels like the San Juan Islands (80 miles north by boat)without having to travel and negotiate the ferries. Tacoma waterfront restaurants are 15 minutes away by boat and they have docks. Eagles, seagulls, seals, and the occasional whale travel Colvos passage between the beach home and Vashon Island. Kayaks and big boats travel by constantly. 180+ degree view of it all inside or outside of this beautiful home.
Large new hot tub next to the water to enjoy a glass of wine while watching the beautiful sunset reflecting off of Mt. Rainier and the full moon rising shortly after. Wake up to the increadible sunrise on Sunrise Beach! Email us for more incredible photos. Your stay will be unforgettable.

Sunrise Beach Gig Harbor Beach Front Home with Mt Rainier View
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Gig Harbor
The view was first discovered and documented by Captain Vancouver's 1792 expedition. There is a large historical marker from 1930 on the spot the expedition made a sketch in the journal. The Tacoma Historical Society in 1930 matched the spot to the sketch. The marker says "May 26, 1782; John Sykes Vancouver expedition sketched the bay and the mountain from this site. Aug 22, 1853; Theodore Winthrop crossed from the west passage to the Narrows. He saw the reflection of the mountain on the water and wrote: "The Siwash call it Tacoma"
The Unique Benefits at this House
The beach house is so relaxing. It is at the end of Sunrise Beach Drive so there is never any road noise. You are at the waters edge to just sit back and enjoy. The amenities of Costco, Albertson's, and Starbucks are 10 minutes away.

My wife and I stayed at the Sunrise Beach House for the second year in a row. The weather was favorable for late October and the views were as beautiful as we remembered from last year. As always the house was clean and had everything we needed for a great time. Our daughter was in Seattle for a business meeting and joined us for two days. Now, she wants to reserve the house next year herself. We have many retired military friends in the area and used the house as our base. The sunrises and sunsets were beautiful almost everyday. We live in Arizona and will definitely go back next year.

I don't sit still well - this beach cabin was the first place I have stayed that made me want to just sit and do nothing. The couch out on the deck overlooking the water was the perfect place for reading, or just watching the boats go by. In the evening it was the place for cocktails and dinner. While there are some interesting shops and restaurants to explore nearby, my spouse never even left the property the whole time we stayed there because it was just so nice to be there. The house was nicely decorated in Caribbean beach colors, the kitchen was well equipped for cooking, and the owner was very good to deal with. We'll be back.

This home is so much more than the photos depict. It is very well appointed with very generous supplies of household items, we needed for nothing and had more than we needed. The owners care for this home with pride and it's decorated with all beautiful furnishings and accessories, the patio is simply awesome, we entertained three evenings, it was so very comfortable with plenty of covered seating even if weather was not perfect. We simply cannot wait to return. The setting is unbelievable, we hated leaving and couldn't wait to get back and enjoy it some more. Yes, we would whole heartedly recommend this beach house.

We are from Southern California. We stayed at the Sunrise Beach Cottage for 10 days in July. The pictures and descriptions accurately describe the cottage and the location. The view outside the front windows and cottage deck of Mount Rainer was a wonderful way to wake up every morning. We also liked the fact that the cottage is located about 5 minutes from downtown Gig Harbor. While other rentals in the area say they are located in Gig Harbor, in reality they are often located a significant distance from the downtown area of Gig Harbor. We loved touring the area, however we always looked forward to returning to the cottage to sit on the deck and read or look at the view. Our dog Lily enjoyed posting herself on the deck to see what kinds of people and wild life passed by. We also enjoyed getting to know some of the very friendly neighbors on Sunrise Beach. We will be returning.
Owner response:Hi Lily! Thank you for writing a review. We look forward to your visit next summer. -John

Do you want to get away from it all and enjoy a wonderfully set up house on the beach? Then this is the house to rent. Easy to take care of, open floor plan, windows with views of the sound. We enjoyed feeding the birds only thing I wish I had thought to bring was a fishing pole.Deck runs the whole length of the house and is wonderful for relaxing and reading. The beds were very comfortable, loved having a washer and dryer so clothes were all clean for the trip home. Enjoyed the hot tub and star gazing and then enjoyed sitting by the fireplace inside afterwards. Enjoyed finding treasures on the beach . Did not get a chance to try out the outdoor fireplace for smores but want to next time we come to stay. We highly recommend staying at Sun Rise Beach in Gig Harbor, WA.
Owner response:Hi Karen! Thank you for the review. It was great to have you back again.

We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. The home is wonderfully designed with multiple comfortable places to relax. On a clear day I think it has the best view in the entire Tacoma/Gig Harbor region. And, it's just a short drive to downtown Gig Harbor, which is a great town to walk through. We hope to stay here again.
Owner response:JJ - thank you for enjoying our Sunrise Beach house and taking such good care of it! The view is incredible. Shelley and I hope you can stay again sometime.
