We celebrated Mother's day a week early with Mama "Hattie" and her 4 adult daughters. We all live in the Seattle-Tacoma area and it was so nice to take just a quick ride to this beautiful beach home. It was so beautifully decorated in a beach theme with all all the modern ammenities needed for preparing meals, sleeping, and lounging on the huge deck. there is plenty of seating inside and out. We were fortunate to be there on the night of the "super" moon (May 5, 2012) and it was like having a front row seat at a outdoor performance. The next day was one of our first sunny spring days this year and again, we had that same front row seat for the "showing" of Mount Rainier. We had a wonderful time and hope for a repeat trip some day. Maybe for Hattie"s 90th BD!

We have stayed at this wonderful home twice and expect to return in the future. The house is recently remodled, light, airy, and has great views of marine traffic, Vashon Island, Point Deception, and Mount Rainer. Very quiet location, nice kitchen, hot tub with a view. You can walk for miles on the deserted beach when the tide is low. Highly recomended.

The view doesn't get any better than this! Breathtaking sky views, + Mt. Rainier, Commencement Bay and the Narrows. You could sit on the deck and never have to move all day. Beautiful house with all the amenities you could possibly ask for. Life is good!

Our family enjoyed a fabulous 8 nights over the Christmas holidays at this lovely Sunset Beach home. The house was well appointed and the view was spectacular. We loved our days relaxing with a fire and watching the seals. This is definitely a house that we would love to visit again!

My wife and I stayed at the Sunrise Beach House for the second year in a row. The weather was favorable for late October and the views were as beautiful as we remembered from last year. As always the house was clean and had everything we needed for a great time. Our daughter was in Seattle for a business meeting and joined us for two days. Now, she wants to reserve the house next year herself. We have many retired military friends in the area and used the house as our base. The sunrises and sunsets were beautiful almost everyday. We live in Arizona and will definitely go back next year.

This home is so much more than the photos depict. It is very well appointed with very generous supplies of household items, we needed for nothing and had more than we needed. The owners care for this home with pride and it's decorated with all beautiful furnishings and accessories, the patio is simply awesome, we entertained three evenings, it was so very comfortable with plenty of covered seating even if weather was not perfect. We simply cannot wait to return. The setting is unbelievable, we hated leaving and couldn't wait to get back and enjoy it some more. Yes, we would whole heartedly recommend this beach house.

I don't sit still well - this beach cabin was the first place I have stayed that made me want to just sit and do nothing. The couch out on the deck overlooking the water was the perfect place for reading, or just watching the boats go by. In the evening it was the place for cocktails and dinner. While there are some interesting shops and restaurants to explore nearby, my spouse never even left the property the whole time we stayed there because it was just so nice to be there. The house was nicely decorated in Caribbean beach colors, the kitchen was well equipped for cooking, and the owner was very good to deal with. We'll be back.

We are from Southern California. We stayed at the Sunrise Beach Cottage for 10 days in July. The pictures and descriptions accurately describe the cottage and the location. The view outside the front windows and cottage deck of Mount Rainer was a wonderful way to wake up every morning. We also liked the fact that the cottage is located about 5 minutes from downtown Gig Harbor. While other rentals in the area say they are located in Gig Harbor, in reality they are often located a significant distance from the downtown area of Gig Harbor. We loved touring the area, however we always looked forward to returning to the cottage to sit on the deck and read or look at the view. Our dog Lily enjoyed posting herself on the deck to see what kinds of people and wild life passed by. We also enjoyed getting to know some of the very friendly neighbors on Sunrise Beach. We will be returning.
Owner response:Hi Lily! Thank you for writing a review. We look forward to your visit next summer. -John

Do you want to get away from it all and enjoy a wonderfully set up house on the beach? Then this is the house to rent. Easy to take care of, open floor plan, windows with views of the sound. We enjoyed feeding the birds only thing I wish I had thought to bring was a fishing pole.Deck runs the whole length of the house and is wonderful for relaxing and reading. The beds were very comfortable, loved having a washer and dryer so clothes were all clean for the trip home. Enjoyed the hot tub and star gazing and then enjoyed sitting by the fireplace inside afterwards. Enjoyed finding treasures on the beach . Did not get a chance to try out the outdoor fireplace for smores but want to next time we come to stay. We highly recommend staying at Sun Rise Beach in Gig Harbor, WA.

We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. The home is wonderfully designed with multiple comfortable places to relax. On a clear day I think it has the best view in the entire Tacoma/Gig Harbor region. And, it's just a short drive to downtown Gig Harbor, which is a great town to walk through. We hope to stay here again.
Owner response:JJ - thank you for enjoying our Sunrise Beach house and taking such good care of it! The view is incredible. Shelley and I hope you can stay again sometime.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your beach house and cannot thank you enough for your hospitality and graciousness. All the timely help you provided when we needed it remains greatly appreciated. The coziness and warmth of your cottage, especially during the "snowy" nights, were more than we could have imagined. The overriding theme about this trip that will remain a lasting memory between my wife and I was how close our family united, due in part, to the close yet completely comfortable living and dining spaces. We enjoyed so many things together like playing Monopoly, watching movies or just reading and "scrap booking" in front of the fire. All of these things contributed to an amazingly memorable holiday vacation. A couple of other highlights were our family walks up the hill and teaching my kids the thrill of a "monster-slam" service return at the ping pong table. We highly recommend your beach house to any family wanting to establish memories and create bonds that will last a long, long time. Many thanks and warmest regards, Patrick, Angela, Stephy, Dani

After a long journey , this was just where we needed to be. We drove our newly married daughter out to meet her husband in Washington. He is in the Navy and will be stationed in Bremerton. A very sad time for us, but a time to be so happy for her and the new life she was about to begin with her husband. Five of us, 3 days in a car with her little puppy!! Most people would probably not believe us but we had an awsome time making our way to Washington . When we arrived , the moving company wasnt ready for us and so we needed a place to stay. This was it, the perfect place to enjoy each other until it was time for us to fly back. Well we were only going to stay a night or two.We ended up staying much longer, we enjoyed being at this home so much. It was simply perfect! We couldnt ask for a more perfect place. Our time with our family was just made perfect by all that surrounded us here. The view was out of this world , the wildlife was awsome. The comforts of home and so welcoming. This house was so comfortable and clean. The owner was very attentive and even led us to town so that we wouldnt get lost. I am so greatful they shared this wonderful treasure of theirs with us......

My wife and I currently live in Arizona but had previously lived in Washington State for 20 years. For my birthday, we decided to visit old friends and favorite spots in the Tacoma area. After looking at numerous properties on VRBO, we decided on the Sunrise Beach House in Gig Harbor and we were not disappointed. The home is well appointed with nothing missing. Any interior photos cannot show the size or expanse of living area or kitchen area. The view was fantastic and we were there in November! We were able to see Commencement Bay, Tacoma and Mt. Rainier each day. The sunrises and sunsets were unbelievable. The only caution is that the steps from the parking area down to the home itself could be difficult if anyone had ambulatory problems. Railings on the lower, old (probably original) rock steps would be a great addition in any weather conditions. We can't wait to go back next year.
Owner response:Thank you for being our guest! We love sharing the most beautiful view in the Puget Sound. The historical monument at Sunrise Beach notes that the original explorers stopped there and made a drawing of the view in their log books.

Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous beach house with us! The view of Mt. Rainer and sunrise was fantastic and is one of the most awe insipiring views in the Northwest. The house is so well equiped, comfortable and clean. You and your wife have covered every detail with excellent taste. Luckily our weather second week of October was fantastic but we did use the great heaters on the deck and the covered deck seating makes for a cozy place for reading or just taking in the view. Shopping in Gig Harbor was excellent as always and just a few minutes from the house. We will be back next summer!

We stayed for one week in Sept. and it doesn't get any better than this. Great location, beautiful home, nice neighbors, and WOW what a View. We found it very easy to get to any location we wanted to go to from here. Whether it be a shopping trip to downtown Seattle, or hiking in the Olympics . We enjoyed coming home here every night to the peace and quiet it was so tranquil. The kids took advantage of the wonderful deck and slept out on it every night. Also by staying here we were able to experience & enjoy some of the many wonders of Gig Harbor. The sea lions swimming by, the diving birds out fishing the fishermen, the deer strolling by, the beach, kayaking, and watching the sunset across the sound over Mt. Rainier. The owners were very accomodating and easy to work with. We are all ready looking forward to our next stay!

We spent a much-awaited 2-week holiday at Sunrise Beach and were truly pleased with the house, the location, the views - everything! The beach house is wonderful, we cannot recommend it highly enough! The views, whether from windows, deck or hot tub were great, walks along the beach enjoyable, seals floating past, sea eagles grabbing fish from the water, Mt Rainier in the background, the comfortable house itself... all added to our great stay. The place is also a good base for exploring and enjoying the Olympic Peninsula, Puget sound area and Seattle. We very much hope to have the opportunity to stay there again.

Every summer my sisters and I get away for a long week-end ... it's our Ya-Ya week-end. The only requirement is that we be on salt water and have room to enjoy our hobbies ... and then maybe some shopping. Sunrise Beach was everything we could have asked for. The house is beautiful and spacious ... being right on the water was great ... and the shopping in Gig Harbor was terrific. The photos don't accurately reflect Sunrise Beach ... it is so much better. We're three 50-somethings and this year we had a 6 year old with us who had a great time. It was quiet, restful and you could feel yourself relax right away. I can't think of anyone who wouldn't enjoy a week-end (or longer) and Sunrise Beach and have already recommended it to friends and family. We hope to get back there soon. Thanks for the great week-end.

Stayed for a long weekend in March. Terrific home, incredible views! It was a bit too cold to spend time outside, however, it didn't matter as the outside is practically inside thanks to the enormous windows and proximity to the water. The home is very comfortable and there is a nice iPod sound system that we very much enjoyed. The owner John was very easy to work with, we would stay there again w/out hesitation.

We had a truly incredible time and thoroughly enjoyed your beach house. What a wonderful place! All the colorful decorating touches were great -- from pillows to plates. And the bathroom is magnificant (not something you usually hear about a bathroom!). The wrap-around view right on the water was breathtaking all times of the day and night. We drank coffee on the dock over the water in the morning and sat around the gas campfire enjoying the lights at night. Besides the wedding itself, staying at your house was definitely the highlight of the trip. Thanks again for sharing. The Coleman family

My family rented the house in May 2009, The house is in a wonderful Location and the view is outstanding. We hosted a dinner on the Deck and Mount Rainer and a full moon rising was breathtaking. The house decor is darling and chic. This house will be revisited by our family again. The short distance from the city makes it a great getaway and Gig Harbor is Charming. This is a Pacific Northwest Gem. Owners are very sweet to work with too. Thumbs up!
