Sparrow Pond Cottage

You couldn't find a nicer cottage for a week's stay. Very well equipped. The hammock was used. Near to the lovely beach, and not far from Charleston. Freshfields Village was handy for groceries. Lunches at Bohicket Marina (Rosebank Farms), and the Sanctuary Hotel were great. The Visitor's Center at Kiawah was most helpful.

Great Vacation - April 2011 Easter Week

My 3 kids and I stayed at the house from April 23rd - 30th. We had a great time and the house was everything and more. There was plenty of room - bedrooms and bathrooms were a nice size, lots of extra touches throughout the house. Plenty of towels including beach towels. Everything you need in the kitchen, house was very clean when we arrived and ready for us. Great location on the Island in West Beach Village. Straw Market shops within walking distance, close to pool and easy walk to the beach. The new Freshfields Marketplace was so convenient - less than 10 minutes from the house and only 45 minutes to Charleston. The owner was great in communicating back and forth with me, answering my questions and offering suggestions for bike rentals and restaurants. My only feedback would be the outside of the house could have used a little clean up. Now we were there after some bad storms so they may have contributed to the abundance of leaves and other debrie on the outside porch and deck. The first thig I did was sweep it off and sweep off the chairs out there so we could sit in them. I also had to sweep down many cob webs in the corners as my kids kept complaining abou walking into them. This was minor and overall we loved the house and would definitely return and highly recommend.

Great Time!

We spent a very relaxing week in this beautiful cottage! We loved the convenient path directly to the beach and this beautifully decorated cottage has every amenity. Everything about this retreat was as advertised or better! We will book this cottage again and we will definitely recommend the owners and their beautiful property to all our friends and family. Relax all day at the beach and drive 5 short minutes to Freshfields Village for shopping and dining. Don't forget to plan a day to visit Historic Charleston. This was just what the family needed, a relaxing great time for all!!

Excellent Getaway with Everything You Want!

I spent a week at this Cottage and I have to tell you I will have to make this trip an annual thing! The community was very nice and the grounds were kept up very well. The Cottage itself was in excellent condition and everything was clean and working, I had a blast with my family! The beach is a short walk and very clean! The furnishings and bed linens as well as the towels were top notch! The walk in shower adjacent to one of the bedrooms was nicer than most 5 star hotels! No complaints at all. Very well maintained unit, inside and out! The pictures do not do it justice. Great experience!!!

Wonderful Property/Great Owner

My family and I spent a week at Kiawah in this property. It was beautifully appointed, well-maintained and very clean. The description on the page is completely accurate. We were within a short walk to the beach, pool and a short drive to a great grocery store. The owner's managment company even came by to check on us to see if we need anything. Everyone in the family enjoyed our stay in the cottage. The owner was a delight to work with and very professional and courteous. After having a bad experience in a rentail in DC earlier in the summer this was a great and welcome experience.

Rhonda and Melissa's Mother's Day Get-a-way

I must begin with WOW! My daugther and I had a wonderful first time visit to Kiawah. We were so impressed with the accomodations. This piece of Heaven was just what we needed; beautiful, cozy, delightfully decorated with very soothing colors that beckoned us to relax and feel at home. The owners provide a clean, well stocked kitchen (even a great omelet pan). There are hats, visors, beach towels & coolers. We were a 5 minute brisk walk to the ocean! Only a few minutes (by car) from the grocery store, great restaurants and friendly shopping (Freshfields). We enjoyed a nature Kayak tour; a visit to Angel Tree (a must to see!!!); a beautiful sunset at Mingo Point....all so close! We took an excursion to Charleston -- what an amazing and charming City! Next time we will do a horse and carriage ride for sure! Good places to eat: Fat Hen just a few minutes from Kiawah. In Charleston, eat at Fleet Landing right on the water --- fabulous service --- great food! We are already planning our trip back to Kiawah --maybe we will invite the "DAD" next time. :-)

This was our first trip to Kiawah Island as a couple. We celebrated our first anniversay at Sparrow Pond Cottages and were thrilled with the accommodations. This was actually a surprise anniversay present from my husband. As we entered the gated community we knew this was a special place. This cottage was decorated like a magaizine and had everything we needed for an unbelievable 4 days. We brought our bikes and rode for miles on the beach and saw a sight we had never seen! Deer on the beach. The wildlife is everywhere. We picked up shells, rode bikes, went to Mingo Beach for a beautiful sunset, and walked the miles of trails. We were planning on going into Charleston for dinner but the Fresh Market on Kiawah was all we needed. We bought all our meals at the market. The pastry chef made all the desserts and they were unbelievable. We came home talking about when we wanted to go back. We want the same cottage!! Thank you so much for a special anniversary we will never forget. We were so lucky to choose your beautiful cottage at the beach! All we needed were clothes to wear, everything else was furnished. We'll be back this summer. I highly recommend this cottage and my husband and I give it 5 STARS!!! Missy and Tom

The days flew by!!! Our family had such a wonderful time. We were a little nervous because we brought a friend of my daughter with us and we really wanted her / them to have a great time. Well ... everything was perfect! The location of your house, the sunrise, the sunset, the bike rides, the deer, the shopping ... oh, and the dolphins! AMAZING!! I can not believe how much we did in four days! Definately a family (and friend) favorite. We can't wait to go back!!

This was our first trip to Kiawah Island. We loved the fact that this cottage is in a gated community. It was perfect for our family. (more private and much better than a condo where you hear noise from adjoining units). This cottage was surprisely larger than we expected. The online photos are nice but it's really much prettier in person. You can tell that the owners take a lot of pride in this property. They have provided all the comforts of home - big soft towels, comfortable beds, a variety of pillows (so if you like firm, soft, etc) a full-sized washer & dryer, a variety of family-friendly videos and books for indoor times, even a small cooler to borrow for a beach picnic. The amenities at this resort are awesome! The beaches were uncrowded, with wide firm areas for riding bikes, but soft enough for walking barefoot. The last beach we visited was Bethany Beach, Delaware. That beach seemed to have a lot of broken up shells and small rocks which were not comfortable... Our boys commented on how great it felt to walk barefoot into the water at Kiawah because the beaches are so smooth and clean. Something for everyone - six golf courses (be sure and visit the Osprey Clubhouse and the breath-taking Ocean Course even if you don't play golf); tennis; beautiful pools; a nature center where the boys watched the staff feed snakes and aligators; plus the many bike paths for exploring the entire island. (Our rental bikes were conveniently at the cottage when we arrived.) We were very lucky to be here over the 4th of July. The fireworks on the beach were incredible, with a large full moon in the background and a gentle breeze blowing against our face as we sat in our beach chairs. There is much to do in the Charleston area, too. We took the boys to Ft. Sumter (where the Civil War began) and the USS Yorktown (aircraft carrier). Not only a fun experience, but very educational as well. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND renting this cottage when heading to Kiawah Island. If you're like us, you will be wanting to go back for more than a week next time!

What a lovely place to relax and feel at home. Absolutely everything you need is there. The cottage is bright and is only a walk from the beautiful beach. The beach is very private and picturesque. Be sure to take advantage of the bike trails so you can truly get a feel for Kiawah and see all the beautiful trees and homes. You are only a short jaunt from Charleston, an excellent place for sight seeing and eating.

This is a great cottage for a family! Plenty of room for a family of 5-6. Great access to bike paths and also to the beautiful beach and market. Cottage is on a quiet cul-de-sac and is decorated so cute with everything you need! Kiawah Island has loads of great activities for kids. We recommend bike riding to The Sanctuary Hotel for lunch or dinner and taking advantage of the events in Night Heron Park. Enjoy!

This is a wonderful, sunny, relaxing beach cottage fully equipped for an easy vacation week. I loved the hammock on the deck - a great place to sip a cool drink and read a good book. It is an easy walk to the beach where we found many different varieties of shells. We also enjoyed the shopping at Fresh Fields. I can't wait to return to Kiawah!
